Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 317: Chapter 317: Fleeing for Life and Death

However, with Xiao Xiao injured, the Mist Spirit Boat she controlled was not flying very fast. The Feathered Demon King, a flying creature by nature, was much swifter in the air than the current Mist Spirit Boat, and it wasn’t long before it caught up to the four of them.

The Demon King did not hold back, launching an immediate attack. It unleashed the full power of its Martial King Realm cultivation, causing the Mist Spirit Boat to rock violently as if about to fall apart. Its attacks grew increasingly forceful, and within minutes, the vessel was shattered.

The four of them plummeted from the sky. At a thousand meters above the ground, a fall from that height would surely smash them to pulp, with no need for the Feathered Demon King to lift a finger. Just then, Liang Fei produced a Top-grade Spirit Ship, channeling his spiritual energy to summon the vessel and catch them. Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao were overjoyed and quickly urged Liang Fei to start the ship, but he fiddled with it for a long time without success.

Meanwhile, the Feathered Demon King renewed its assault. However, because this was a Top-grade Spirit Ship, its defenses were much stronger than the Mist Spirit Boat’s, and the Demon King couldn’t break through for the time being. Seeing Liang Fei fumbling, Xiao Xiao couldn’t help but snap irritably, ”Fatso, what are you dawdling for? Hurry up and start the ship! It won’t hold up for long.”

Sweating profusely in a panic, Liang Fei still couldn’t get the Spirit Ship to move. Finally, with a pained expression, he turned to Xiao Xiao. ”Xiao Xiao, actually... I stole this Top-grade Spirit Ship from my father. The ship hasn’t recognized me as its master, so I can’t undo its seal. Without control rights, I can’t pilot it.”

Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao were left utterly speechless.

At that moment, the Giant Ape Demon King arrived and joined the assault. Although they couldn’t pilot the vessel, it still carried the four of them on a steady descent to the ground below. Just as they landed, however, the Spirit Ship’s defenses finally gave out, and it was smashed to pieces by a single punch from the Giant Ape Demon King.

Exposed and with nowhere to run, they were once again injured by the two crazed Demon Kings. For the three who were already poisoned, this only aggravated their condition. A wave of excruciating pain wracked their bodies; it felt as if their very bones were being shattered. Just as the four fell into despair, yet another Demon King descended from the sky to join the assault.

”It’s over! We’re done for!” Liang Fei cried out in despair. Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao exchanged a helpless glance and shook their heads.

At this critical moment, Wang San stepped forward. ”Master,” he said to Xiao Xiao, ”I have a way to escape, but it will be a bit of an ordeal for you.”

Xiao Xiao replied irritably, ”If you have a way, then spit it out! If I die, you’re bound by our contract, and you won’t survive either.”

Swallowing nervously, Wang San quickly explained, ”I’m a rat demon, right? I’m a natural burrower. The only way out is for you all to follow me into a tunnel I dig!”

Without a second thought, Xiao Xiao ordered Wang San to start digging. Ye Qingchen and Liang Fei mustered all their remaining strength to hold off the three Demon Kings. Wang San’s hands transformed into rat claws, and he began to tear at the ground. While Wang San wasn’t powerful, his burrowing skills were indeed first-rate. In an instant, a hole half a meter wide appeared. Xiao Xiao pulled Ye Qingchen into the tunnel, and Liang Fei scrambled in right after them.

”Trying to run? After them!” the Giant Ape Demon King roared in fury upon seeing them escape. It tried to give chase, but the entrance was too small for the three Demon Kings to enter. Finally, the Giant Ape Demon King used its powerful arms to expand the opening until they could barely squeeze inside. However, their bodies were so large that the tunnel began to collapse as soon as they entered. Left with no other choice, the Demon Kings had to clear a path as they followed the hole the group had already dug.

Wang San didn’t dare to stop for a moment, digging with desperate fervor while Ye Qingchen used his Dual Pupil Martial Soul to guide their path forward. The three Demon Kings were relentless, continuing their pursuit through the collapsed tunnel.

These Demon Kings couldn’t believe it. No matter how good that rat is at digging, it has to get tired eventually, right? The moment they stop will be the moment they die!

Wang San understood this perfectly. Even as his hands bled from the effort, he didn’t dare to stop. After several grueling hours of digging, the group finally broke through into the Misty Sea just moments before the tunnel behind them was completely destroyed. Wang San continued to burrow through the seabed, searching for the Teleportation Array Ye Qingchen had told him about, while the three Demon Kings remained hot on their heels.

Finally, thanks to Wang San’s tireless efforts, the four of them arrived at the entrance of the Teleportation Array. Following the Demon Domain Envoy’s instructions, Xiao Xiao used a secret technique to activate it, leading Ye Qingchen and the others inside.

Soon after, the three Demon Kings caught up. Seeing the activated Teleportation Array before them, they were ecstatic. Although they had failed to catch Ye Qingchen’s group, they had discovered a Teleportation Array. And since those humans had used it to escape, its destination was obvious. Once they entered human territory, they could launch an attack, seizing more land and resources. The rise of the Demon Race would be imminent.

The three Demon Kings exchanged excited glances and started toward the Teleportation Array together. They were already fantasizing about wreaking havoc in the human territories.

”Stop!”

As they neared the array, an angry shout halted them in their tracks. The three were about to lash out, but when they saw who had arrived, they all dropped to their knees and paid their respects. The newcomer was none other than the Nine-Tailed White Fox, a being whom even the Squid Demon Emperor treated with reverence.

Mr. White Fox looked at the Teleportation Array, a flicker of puzzlement in his eyes vanishing in an instant.

The Giant Ape Demon King gathered its courage and asked, ”Mr. White Fox, this Teleportation Array leads to human territory. This is the perfect time to attack. Why are you stopping us?”

The other two Demon Kings chimed in, looking at Mr. White Fox in confusion.

Mr. White Fox sighed. ”I can see that this array leads to human territory. But do you have any idea who that little girl you were just chasing is? She is our Demon Race’s departed Vermilion Bird High God!”

”What? The Vermilion Bird High God?” Hearing this name, the three Demon Kings began to tremble uncontrollably. They had been chasing the Vermilion Bird High God?

Mr. White Fox shook his head and continued, ”The Vermilion Bird High God is in human territory for a reason; she must have her own plans. Do not act rashly, lest you ruin the High God’s grand design! Do you understand?”

The three Demon Kings nodded quickly, their gazes toward the Teleportation Array now filled with profound reverence.
