Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 311: Chapter 311 I’ve Already Given My Heart Away

From the looks of it, this human had most likely exposed his identity. After being captured by the Demon Race, he was about to become food for these demons.

If it were a member of the Demon Race, Ye Qingchen certainly wouldn’t meddle. But to encounter a human within the Demon Region and not lend a hand would be somewhat unjustifiable.

With this thought, Ye Qingchen said to Xiao Xiao, ”Xiao Xiao, let’s go have a look.”

The two of them concealed their auras and slowly approached the group of demons.

”Help me! Help!”

Liang Fei’s voice was already hoarse from shouting. He was well aware that in the territory of the Demon Race, the chances of finding someone to save him were almost zero.

But Liang Fei wasn’t ready to give up. He had only been captured because he’d carelessly fallen into a trap. Otherwise, with his strength at the Eighth Layer of the Martial Spirit Realm, how could these demons possibly be his opponents?

Moreover, Liang Fei couldn’t accept it. He had pestered and pleaded with his father just to get permission to come to the Demon Region. To die here before gaining any real experience, destined to be steamed in a pot by these demons—it was a bitter pill to swallow.

Alas! I am the son of Liang Xiong, Sect Master of the Three-Star Sect, Thunder Valley, and its future Sect Master. Even if I have to die, shouldn’t I at least be braised?

”You’d better save your energy,” the leading demon said, annoyed by Liang Fei’s cries. He punched him hard in the stomach. ”On my own turf, I’m the biggest demon around. With me here, no one is coming to save you.”

Finally, he even sprinkled a handful of salt over Liang Fei.

Better to marinate him in advance for more flavor.

”Young Master, that person seems to be human, right?” Xiao Xiao had also recognized Liang Fei’s identity and spoke to Ye Qingchen.

Ye Qingchen nodded. ”Encountering a human here is like meeting an old friend in a foreign land. Let’s rescue him.”

Xiao Xiao tugged on Ye Qingchen’s sleeve, her small head held high with pride. ”Young Master, why would you need to act personally for a few minor demons? Xiao Xiao can handle them alone.”

After saying this, Xiao Xiao rushed out without waiting for Ye Qingchen to say another word.

The demons were slightly stunned by her sudden appearance. The leader spoke, ”Friend, let’s be reasonable. This is my territory. If you leave now, I won’t pursue the matter.”

”Your territory? Does it have your name on it?” Xiao Xiao snorted, wasting no more words as she immediately attacked the small group of demons.

Pity these demons. The strongest among them was only at the Fifth Layer of the Martial Spirit Realm. How could they possibly be a match for Xiao Xiao? She didn’t even need to use a Martial Technique, effortlessly slaying them all.

”Fairy! Save me, Fairy!”

Liang Fei hadn’t expected his cries for help would actually summon someone. The joy of escaping death made him look at Xiao Xiao as if she were a legendary fairy. He could also sense that she was human, just like him, which made him feel an even greater sense of kinship.

Xiao Xiao was quite pleased with the title. She walked up to Ye Qingchen and tilted her head up, her expression clearly begging for praise as she announced, ”Young Master, it’s settled.”

Ye Qingchen smiled and ruffled Xiao Xiao’s hair, then walked over to Liang Fei and untied the ropes binding him. He sized up the young man and asked with some confusion, ”Friend, you’re at the Eighth Layer of the Martial Spirit Realm. How were you captured by these minor demons?”

Liang Fei looked slightly embarrassed as the memory surfaced. He sighed, then said fiercely, ”Those demons are too cunning! They used a drug to seal my cultivation.”

Xiao Xiao retorted dismissively, ”You fell for their trap and you’re calling them cunning? Isn’t it just because you were foolish?”

Liang Fei wasn’t angered by Xiao Xiao’s mockery. Instead, he beamed and bowed to her. ”The fairy’s lesson is well taken. I was careless. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Liang Fei, son of Liang Xiong, the Sect Master of the Three-Star Sect, Thunder Valley! May I ask for the fairy’s esteemed name?”

As he spoke, Liang Fei extended his hand for a handshake, but Xiao Xiao completely ignored him.

”Since you’re already calling me Fairy, just stick with that,” Xiao Xiao said, annoyed. ”Why do you need my name?”

Liang Fei awkwardly scratched his head, while Ye Qingchen was somewhat surprised. He hadn’t expected that the person he’d casually saved would turn out to be the young sect master of a Three-Star Sect.

But it was only a fleeting surprise. This was a world where strength was revered; identity was often secondary. Besides, in terms of status, Xiao Xiao was from a Nine-Star Sect, placing her several levels above Liang Fei.

Xiao Xiao walked to Ye Qingchen’s side. ”Young Master, we’ve saved him. We should hurry and find the Yellow Skin Demon King.”

Ye Qingchen nodded and prepared to leave with her.

But at that moment, Liang Fei ran over and blocked their path. He looked a bit awkward but still spoke up, ”The two of you have some nerve, daring to go after a Demon King. That’s an existence equivalent to a human Martial King Realm expert! You’re too weak on your own. Seeing as you saved me, this young master will accompany you.”

Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao both ignored Liang Fei’s so-called kind offer. They had saved him only because he was a fellow human; neither had any intention of bringing him along.

Ye Qingchen pulled Xiao Xiao along and they walked away. Liang Fei called out a few times, but they didn’t look back. Liang Fei pursed his lips and, casting his status aside, began to follow them.

Ye Qingchen could easily see that Liang Fei wasn’t following them to repay a debt of gratitude; he was clearly interested in Xiao Xiao. The way he was staring at her was so intense that his eyes were practically glued to her. Only someone with Xiao Xiao’s personality would fail to notice.

However, Ye Qingchen didn’t stop him. After all, Liang Fei didn’t seem to be a bad person. If he wanted to follow, then let him.

The three of them traveled together. Along the way, Liang Fei showered Xiao Xiao with attention, trying to talk to her at every opportunity. Xiao Xiao, however, treated him with indifference, choosing instead to constantly chatter with Ye Qingchen.

After two days in the forest, Liang Fei became more familiar with the pair and his speech grew bolder. Finally, emboldened by his infatuation, he shamelessly said to Xiao Xiao, ”Little Girl Xiaoxiao, I’m the young sect master of a Three-Star Sect. When we get back, I’ll have my father go to your family to propose. I’ll marry you with all the proper rites and bring you back to Thunder Valley! You’ll be the young sect master’s wife then, and eventually, the Sect Master’s wife!”

Xiao Xiao scoffed. ”I’d advise you not to waste your breath. You think I would marry you? What are you thinking? To tell you the truth, my heart already belongs to someone else.”

Liang Fei laughed. ”It can’t be your Young Master, can it? He’s only at the Fifth Layer of the Martial Spirit Realm. So weak.”

”If you like him, I have to say, your taste is really poor...”
