I Love Destroying Worlds' Plot

Chapter 1656 22.42 Third Red Star - Warning

The sudden revelation about the identity of the mysterious Madam Ye had left everyone dumbfounded. No one had expected Madam Ye to become someone like a controversial person like the Mermaid King, and this is also the first time they had heard his name. The people of the federation were at first shocked and finally angry. Their hatred for the sea clan had now been extended to the little mermaids. Of course, they knew that the little mermaids had nothing to do with the massacre of the sea, but unable to vent their anger towards the real culprits, the little mermaids were chosen as the next target as well.

Strong-willed mermaids like the Mermaid King were the most likely target for this situation. As expected, as soon as the little mermaid king had exposed where he was staying, everyone, including the general and the military, was affected. They all demanded that the Mermaid King return to the sea and that he wasnʼt welcome on the land. They even threatened to petition to remove the general from his position.

The people in the open area started chanting.

”Donʼt believe any sea monsters!”

”Throw back the Mermaid King to the sea!”

”Let the General abdicate!”

However, there is no way the military will kick out the Mermaid King. They had longed to know about their Madam Ye and how powerful this person is. Even in his human form and in close combat, no one can defeat him within the military. It can be said that it was also thanks to the Mermaid King that no one had been suffering from mental riots thanks to his brethren who were living in their headquarters and helped treat them. In short, there are two leaders in the military headquarters: the general who leads the soldiers and the mermaid king who protects them from the rear.

They were also the first ones to learn that the little mermaids are capable of turning humans as long as they reach a certain threshold. Thatʼs why they can understand why their demon general had fallen for the mermaid king. Actually, the little mermaids who can turn humans are no different from them. Well, except they are a bit fragile; their healing abilities using water are top-notch as well. As for how the Mermaid King is capable of beating up all soldiers except for the general, the soldier chooses to treat him as an anomaly.

At the venue of the press conference, there were many reporters who acted similar to the protesters in the main city. They showered the general with the very same questions the media had been reporting live at this moment.

”General, are you truly going to protect the mermaid king?”

”He is just like those monsters from the seas! He kills humans!”

”The mermaid king cannot be trusted!”

”Are you forgetting your responsibility as the General of the Federation? You are supposed to be protecting us. Us humans!”

The mermaid king inside the fishbowl was watching the facade before his eyes. He was even smiling as if watching a play and that it had nothing to do with him.

Hei Anjing said to his beloved, ”AʼXia, the human race is as shameless and morally degrading as always.”

”My wife is always right,” said the general with a small smile on the corner of his lips and gently caressing his wifeʼs cheeks.

The others around him were split into three reactions. Those from the military almost couldnʼt stop themselves from covering their faces. How can they continue to watch their superiors acting like a shameless couple while in a live broadcast? The second group was those who couldnʼt believe what they were seeing and hearing. Left dumbfounded and speechless, theyʼve almost become statues. Finally, the last ones were those who were anti-sea monsters and were obviously targeting the mermaid king.

The reporters from the anti-sea monster said, ”You are truly in cahoots with a sea monster! You donʼt deserve to be a general!”

”Abdicate! Youʼre a supporter of those monsters who eat your kind!”

”You donʼt deserve to lead the human race!”

”Change the general! Remove him from his position!”

Hei Anjing mumbles, ”So noisy~ can we go home, my love?”

”Alright. Letʼs go home,” said General Ye as he took his lover out of the bowl, drying him up and finally placing it back on his chest pocket. He glanced at his subordinate, asking him to take over.

Some of the reporters started protesting as well. Regardless, those on stage remain calm and unmoved by their reactions. As if they already expected this to happen. In the end, the one who spoke up was the Colonel, who received a gesture from his lord, who was busy chatting with his wife and ignoring everything else.

The general took a seat at the one prepared on the stage and left the podium for the Colonel. Of course, the shouting of the reporters didnʼt stop as he took over, so he could only use force to shut them up.

”I, Colonel Lou Wuye, will take over from the generalʼs place. Though you are free to ask any questions you want, that doesnʼt mean you can speak without thinking. Have you forgotten who is protecting your precious lives? Moreover, to correct you for something. It is indeed true that Lord Hei is a mermaid King, but...”

”He is also the one who helped the military to return alive before the tsunami strikes. He was able to calculate its fall, and for your information, this knowledge had been informed to those people who choose to stay in the seaside lands. In short, some of your lives were saved by his warning. We wouldnʼt even come to the seashore if not for his words as well.”

”Sea monsters kill humans. This is indeed true. Have you forgotten about that former young master and his clan and why they ended up getting killed by the Mermaid King? This is because he had killed three little mermaids and death is a punishment they all deserved. Who are you trying to vent your incompetence for?”

Silence descends in the whole venue of the press conference, and even the cameraman in the area forgot to press the shutter to take the picture of the scene. It seems that almost everyone in the federation, out of anger, had forgotten that it was the military who had been protecting them all this time and that it was thanks to the revelation that it was thanks to the mermaid king that the military had successfully lowered the death count from the tsunami that hit the land.

How about them? What were they doing just now? Oh, right! They were just about to force their savior to abdicate his position. Not only that, they are even calling the one who had saved most of their people from the recent attacks a monster by them. But who is the real monster? The child who was born in a race but was forced to live on land. Or the humans who were saved by the child but treat the child as an enemy to be eliminated. It can be said that without the general, this little mermaid king would have definitely just watched humans die when the sea race attacked the land.

They couldnʼt help but look at the couple behind the colonel, who seemed to only have each other in their world. One is a man who had been protecting their race from the sea race, and the other is someone from the sea race who was thrown to the land for an unknown reason. The general had lost his family at a young age and, because of that, joined the military and finally reached the peak of the faction, becoming the only overlord and guardian of the human race. No one knows why the mermaid king is on the land. But once sea races enter the land, they will never be allowed to return to the sea.

Two people with a pitiful past yet reached the peak of their strength and finally found one another. It can be said that the love between a mermaid and a human is unacceptable. However, for some reason, no one in the area was willing to deny the love of these two men.

The colonel noticed the atmosphere and finally opened his mouth at the right timing: ”We will finally tackle the real reason for the military issuing this press conference.”

This topic instantly woke everyone up, and all looked at the colonel standing at the podium. Actually, no one here expected this. They all thought that this press conference was for whitewashing the reputation of the general. However, it seems that they were never right from the start.

A reporter finally opened his mouth among the stunned crowd. ”Colonel, what is the real reason for this press conference?”

”There are two reasons why this press conference was opened by the military. One is a warning.”

”Everyone from the Federation. No, all of the human race. The sea race has broken the treaty with the land, and they are all out to wipe out all humans on land.”

Actually, this is already obvious thanks to the second video that was showing sea monsters eating humans who fell in water.

”The second one is revelation. An unknown entity had come to the land. They are in the form of some spiritual shape. They can take over oneʼs body and kill its original soul. Living the life that was meant for another. These beings cannot be easily killed and need a holy element to exterminate them. Once they mingle with the human race, it would be hard to spot them from the others,” the colonel said.

Another reporter asked, ”Is there no way to differentiate them from other people?”

”No. Itʼs easy. Once you find a human with the scent of rot and decay, stay away. That is most likely a vessel with a soul taken over,” said Colonel Lou. ”Thatʼs all we want to say. The press conference will now end.”
