I Love Destroying Worlds' Plot

Chapter 1659 22.45 Third Red Star - While Waiting

The young man, Sirius von Shaka, didnʼt expect the mermaid king to react this way. Though he knew that he might never understand his side as they are of a different race, as a soldier who dreams to save his people, he truly couldnʼt keep watching this situation. His race was so terrified that they couldnʼt even come out of the house. Only those who are desperate for money would still come out to work even if the streets are deserted of living people.

Sirius von Shaka mumbles, ”But I became a soldier to save lives and protect my land. If I canʼt do that, why did I even become a soldier?”

”You can only become a martyr once you sacrifice your life for others. How about the lives you dragged with your selfishness and died with you? Your recklessness and naivety would bring death looming to your most important people. I am not a saint and I can never become one. As I am willing to sacrifice all lives in this world to protect the people important to me, how about you? Who are you going to choose between a crowd of strangers and your mother?” Questioned the mermaid king.

The question itself was like an icepick directly targeting his heart where it hurts the most.

Hei Anjing said, ”I am not telling you we arenʼt going to save them. Itʼs just that the time isnʼt right. The enemies havenʼt even shown their heads, much less their tails. Coming out at this moment is like asking them to kill you and the people important to you.”

”Until when are we going to wait?” asked Sirius von Shaka.

The former general answered, ”Until those unknown beings could no longer hold back and start to target those at the top.”

”At the top? Will they target you as well, general?” Sirius von Shaka asked.

Colonel Lou Wuye said, ”Itʼs not possible unless they can enter this territory, which is impossible unless the general and Lord Hei fall.”

”What do you mean?” Sirius asked in disbelief.

Yun Ming said, ”Have you never wondered why the people of this territory remain calm? This is because my master placed a big barrier that protects this whole land. If not for that, those unknown beings would have targeted you, the colonel, and even the general. The king had never removed the barrier once after erecting it. This is the only reason why the humans and the little mermaids in this territory are safe compared to the ones outside.”

Sirius was muted by this information. He had always thought that the reason this territory was safe was because those beings were terrified by the existence of the general in this place. Or maybe the former king and his royal knightsʼ presence in this land. Who would have thought his peacefulness was something the King of the mermaids, who had no responsibility towards them, had been protecting them all this time? Here he thought that these guys were wasting their time playing games, eating snacks, or watching dramas.

Zhi Yang added, ”The reason for these games and drama marathons was to keep Lord Hei awake. After all, once he fell asleep, the barrier would also fade.”

”Did you truly think we are wasting our time? Tsk!” Nokto Augustus sarcastically said.

Now the young man couldnʼt help but feel extremely embarrassed that his cheeks turned a bit pinkish. All this time, he thought that his superiors, especially the mermaid king, who now dislikes the human race, were just watching the calamity that fell on them. Now it seems that the one in the wrong was him for looking at things one-sidedly.

Sirius von Shaka immediately lowered his head before the mermaid king and apologized. ”Lord Hei, Iʼm so sorry! I didnʼt know that you are trying to keep yourself awake with these games and thoughts.”

”My words from before are true. Aside from the humans within this territory, I do not care about the ones from the outside. So there is no need for you to change your outlook of me. I am a cruel being,” said the mermaid king.

All of a sudden, Hei Anjing, who had just picked up his glass of milk tea, let go of the glass and held his head with a frown. Everyone suddenly felt worried about him. If he is suddenly acting like this meant something had happened to the barrier.

The God of Void asked, ”Baby, whatʼs wrong?”

”He is here,” said the God of Destruction as he sat in a lotus form and focused on repairing the hole in his barrier.

Nokto asked, ”Who is here?”

”Me,”

A voice resounded from their back and they saw a man who looks a bit similar to the original appearance of the God of Void but is more mature and has an aura that is so overwhelming that they almost felt with just him appearing in front of Nokto. Itʼs the World Eater, An Shizhe.

An Shizhe ignores the rest and approaches Hei Anjing and Ye Xiajie. ”Child, let me borrow your husband. Those ancient souls—a lot of it escaped before I devoured them all. This will also help him get stronger so he can protect you well.”

The World Eater wanted to hug the God of Destruction but lost to the big brat who instantly carried his wife to his embrace, preventing this old man from touching his wife.

Tsk!

”Just a little hug. So stingy~” said the World Eater, An Shizhe.

Ye Xiajie said, ”Old man, control your murderous aura. Just who angered you enough that you canʼt control your bloodlust?”

Seeing the weak and young ones almost kneeling before his aura, the World Eater took back his bloodlust. Only then did the younglings in the area be able to breathe properly. Among them, Sirius fainted on the spot. Yun Ming and Greeneʼs faces were white, and their whole body was trembling.

As for the Chief Warden, he remained unmoved on the outside, but he was definitely not calm inside. The tension in his muscles made him look a bit stiff. The bear beastman, Xiong, and the wolf beastman, Lang, instinctively morphed into their real forms, trembling yet still protecting their mate behind them. The two systems escaped to their dimension space before getting affected.

The world eater mumbles, ”Four with soul contract and three with your blessings. No wonder, they didnʼt faint like the mortal behind them. However, there is no use in protecting the weak. They are just a burden.”

Everyone was affected by his words and avoided meeting their gaze.

”Old man, itʼs because you are like this that those ancient gods were able to scheme against you as well as that Ancient God of End. You are simply too careless and arrogant,” said Hei Anjing, who just finished his meditation.

The World Eater said, ”Child, stop taunting me. I will return your husband alive with all his limbs intact~”

Hmp! This is Hei Anjing snorting at him.

Everyone thought that the world eater would get angry at the God of Destruction because of his words. However, it seems that the relationship between these three isnʼt simple at all. Hei Anjing noticed their subordinates and friends looking at them, then gestured for them to leave.

”Pick that kid and patrol the range of the barrier. Iʼve repaired it, but just in case another bug sneaks in,” said Hei Anjing.

The World Eater asked Ye Xiajie, ”Is your wife calling me a bug?”

”He might be angry that you destroyed the barrier he had been keeping up for days,” said the God of Void.

After the rest of them took their leave, the expression on the worldʼs face turned serious and asked, ”Child, answer my questions honestly.”

”Okay,” responded Hei Anjing.

The World Eater, An Shizhe, asked, ”Hunluan is alive?”

”Youʼve met his soul fragment. Why donʼt you believe it?” said Hei Anjing.

The God of Destruction didnʼt even speak in a roundabout manner and even questioned the former while he was still asking when he found the only proof that the Ancient God of Chaos is alive. An Shizhe suddenly appeared before the young couple and stared directly at the silver irises of Hei Anjing.

”You are truly fearless. Why are you so sure that I will not devour you at all?~” said the World Eater.

The God of Void was about to react but was restrained by his beloved and chose not to move. However, his eyes glinted with the same murderous intent An Shizhe wore naturally before. The only difference between the intent was that one is a calm and quiet one while the other is fierce and overbearing. If not for the current mood of An Shizhe, he would definitely be interested in such likeness as the God of Void has with him. But at this moment, he is more interested in the answer than the young man, who possesses a similar coldness as his beloved has.

”You will not and you canʼt. As for why, you can ask Hunluan the reason,” said the God of Destruction.

Hei Anjing also stares back without fear, only calmness and that hidden madness at the depths of his eyes, like the man in front of him. In the end, the one who gave up first is still An Shizhe. He raised his hand in surrender and stepped back, falling on the couch like a lazy old man.

Sigh~

”That nerve of steel is very similar to Luanʼer, but your playful nature is not like his (it is instead similar to my nature). He is a serious person at heart,” said An Shizhe. ”It is better that he is alive. Now I donʼt have to look for a way to resurrect him. But you are helping gather his soul fragments, right?”

Hei Anjing nods his head.

”I can meet him if I help you gather all his soul fragments,” the World Eater asked.

Hei Anjing said, ”You are not going to ask us to bring you to him?”

”You definitely donʼt know where he is. In the whole chaos, if he wanted to hide, no one could find him. Thatʼs how weʼve lived our lives before,” said An Shizhe.

He fell into his deep thoughts as if reminiscing about something in the past only he and Hunluan could remember. What the God of Void had seen and experienced before were nothing but fragments of the past. It was never the whole past.
