God-Level Special Forces Soldier

Chapter 942: Chapter 938: What Kind of Person?

Xiao Tian coughed lightly and explained, ”According to the book records, Nether River Water is an excellent Holy Medicine for complete transformation, first appeared over five hundred years ago, and without any side effects, far surpassing the most advanced cosmetic surgery today!”

”Of course, Nether River Water is only effective on the skin; bones cannot be changed, and the size of the eyes and the height of the nose bridge remain the same as originally.”

Although Xiao Tian had just mentioned it, Xiang Yiting couldn’t help but be a bit surprised to hear similar words again. The field she studied was related to this, but even she had never heard any expert or professor mention it.

For a moment, Xiang Yiting had a very bold thought: If the component of Nether River Water can be analyzed and mass-produced, then the patent alone would be enough for the rest of her life.

Moreover, the cosmetics industry has always been a high-profit, popular industry. Once launched, it would be frantically snatched up, just like a money-printing machine, with cash flowing in continuously.

Getting more excited, Xiang Yiting immediately informed Xiao Tian, but the result was not as she hoped...

...

”The idea is sound, but mass production is impossible, even imitation is not possible!” Xiao Tian confessed honestly, pouring cold water on Xiang Yiting, who was fantasizing about a fortune-making plan.

Of course, Xiang Yiting didn’t want to give up easily and immediately pressed further: ”Why is that?”

”Do you know the cost of this small porcelain bottle?” Xiao Tian shook the blue porcelain bottle containing Nether River Water in his hand, smiled, and said, ”If calculated with today’s money, the conservative estimate would be around five million. Do you have five million?”

As he spoke, Xiao Tian emphasized more, adding, ”Note, this is without considering the situation where raw materials are unavailable; the actual figures would be no less than the cost price I just mentioned!”

”We can find investors to solve the funding issue; five million is a fortune for us, but for those listed companies, it’s not a lot, right?” Xiang Yiting argued.

Xiao Tian laughed out loud: ”Even if the funding issue could be solved, have you thought about one thing: why hasn’t such a good medicine like Nether River Water been handed down to the present?”

Xiang Yiting frowned; this was truly a question. According to Xiao Tian’s claim, without any side effects and merely a high cost, it shouldn’t be unheard of until now.

Thinking it over, Xiang Yiting tentatively asked, ”Could it be because people in the past didn’t care much about external beauty?”

Xiao Tian shook his head and revealed the answer: ”Because shortly after Nether River Water appeared, it was banned by the imperial court at the time. Once caught or reported, both the buyer and the seller were sentenced to death, with even more severe cases implicating family members.”

”The reason?” Xiang Yiting asked, frowning tightly.

”It’s simple!”

Xiao Tian showed a meaningful smile: ”Because it was too inhumane!”

”Inhumane?!” Xiang Yiting exclaimed in surprise, feeling that she vaguely guessed something, but only like seeing flowers in the mist, only glimpsing a corner without knowing the deeper matter.

”Yes!” Xiao Tian nodded affirmatively: ”Nether River Water, as you should hear from the name, the most important aspect is the water, and the problem lies precisely with the water.”

Saying this, after a brief pause, Xiao Tian asked, ”You should have heard of mass graves, right?”

”In certain historical periods, fearing the spread of the epidemic after it broke out, people infected with the plague were gathered and buried together.” Xiang Yiting summed it up simply, but then couldn’t help to question further: ”But, what does a mass grave have to do with Nether River Water?”

As soon as the words dropped, before Xiao Tian spoke, Xiang Yiting suddenly widened her eyes: ”Wait! You’re not implying that Nether River Water was extracted from a mass grave, are you?”

”Of course not!” Xiao Tian shook his head in denial and then said, ”But it’s almost the same since Nether River Water is indeed related to the mass graves.”

In fact, Nether River Water was initially discovered on battlefields filled with corpses and rivers of blood, where plants growing in blood-stained earth were unusually robust and extraordinary.

So someone extracted sap from those plants, studied its effects and components, and named it Nether River Water subsequently.

Regarding the mass graves Xiao Tian mentioned, it’s related to Nether River Water being banned.

In wartime, Nether River Water had certain conditions for formation, just waiting a few years for harvest.

But in peacetime, those conditions naturally ceased, and some unscrupulous people artificially created Nether River Water for high-priced sales, catering to various industries that needed it, with the medical and beauty markets being the mainstream.

Although to the vast majority, this was undoubtedly inhumane, in the eyes of those insane people, it became a profitless trade.

As a result, when the incident occurred, it naturally caused a great shock, leading to Nether River Water being absolutely banned, thus not being passed down.

Although Xiao Tian also harbored disdain for things considered evil, he still felt it should be preserved for any urgent need later.

...

After listening to Xiao Tian’s introduction of Nether River Water’s origins, Xiang Yiting was flabbergasted, and looking at the blue porcelain bottle again, her heart was filled with many strange feelings, without the enthusiasm she had before.

Her fortune-making plan was shattered, and Xiang Yiting looked like a defeated attacker, feeling deflated and dispirited.

Little did she know, after speaking, Xiao Tian also felt regret, fearing that after revealing the origins of Nether River Water, no one would be willing to use it anymore.

Of course, except for those who prioritize beauty above all else, even life.

”Now, are you still planning to take half?” Xiao Tian teased as he looked toward Xiang Yiting.

Xiang Yiting was about to shake her head but suddenly seemed to think of something and suspiciously sized up Xiao Tian, murmuring, ”It’s not right. You wouldn’t have made this story up to discourage my thoughts about Nether River Water, would you?”

Xiao Tian continued smiling: ”If you want it, you can have it!”

”Forget it!”

Xiang Yiting repeatedly shook her head, avoiding it like the plague, and then looked intently at Xiao Tian, as if questioning, yet self-questioning, ”What kind of person are you?”

Xiao Tian started in concern, realizing he had been overly excited just now and became somewhat careless.

Though Xiang Yiting is now regarded as one of his own, and Xiao Tian is confident she wouldn’t betray a friend, he knew better that Xiang Yiting was just an ordinary person.

Moreover, an ordinary person with outstanding potential yet to be discovered!

Therefore, even for her safety, Xiao Tian absolutely did not want her to know too much, so deflecting was the best option for now.
