Chapter 902: Chapter 898: A Fifty Million US Dollar Deal

”So, you’re saying only the Water Drop Organization can control the infected bodies of the virus?!” Xiao Tian exclaimed, feeling that if this was true, the situation could be on the brink of spiraling out of control.

Having dealt with the Biochemical Beasts multiple times before, Xiao Tian naturally understood the severity of the situation.

Given the Water Drop Organization’s usual approach, once they possess such a powerful asset, they’re capable of anything.

”Exactly!”

Adison Claire nodded and added, ”Moreover, although this mutated virus isn’t as infectious as the previous ones, it’s much stronger and more discreet, making it harder to detect.”

Words like the ability to create a mutated virus ten times more potent than the previous Biochemical Beast, having a certain degree of autonomous awareness, and more covert infection methods passed through Xiao Tian’s mind, making his expression even more somber, unable to utter a word for a long time.

”Enough has been said!”

Adison Claire smiled easily, as if a great weight was finally lifted from her shoulders, and said, ”If possible, I have one more request, hoping you could agree. In return, everything in my study will be yours.”

”Conservative estimates put the value at over fifty million US dollars!”

Xiao Tian raised his eyebrows, not so much moved by the figure of fifty million as he was curious to hear what Adison Claire’s request would be. So he spoke, ”Let’s hear it.”

”After I’ve erased the database, I need you to use every means at your disposal to kill me. If you succeed, you can take the fifty million.”

Adison Claire assured him, ”Rest assured, at least within ten minutes, I won’t mutate. But if you haven’t killed me after ten minutes, then you should leave immediately.”

Such a surefire condition seemed to have a high chance of Xiao Tian agreeing, in Adison Claire’s view.

Fifty million US dollars might not be a colossal sum for an organization, but for an individual, it’s a huge fortune, enough to spend lavishly for a lifetime.

However, Xiao Tian merely shook his head gently, showing no intention of agreeing.

Adison Claire immediately felt incredulous, wondering why this person would refuse such a beneficial offer, questioning whether he was really short of money, had a brain problem, or mistrusted her words?

As Adison Claire speculated about Xiao Tian’s mindset, she saw him suddenly extend another hand, a mysterious smile on his face.

”Wha-what are you going to do?” Adison Claire asked, feeling a bit intimidated, instinctively stepping back.

”Don’t move!”

Xiao Tian commanded sharply, pressing his palm three inches below Adison Claire’s navel, slowly transferring True Qi.

Adison Claire’s face turned crimson instantly, unable to say more, feeling a warm sensation circulating in her abdomen, gradually moving toward where the virus resided.

For a moment, Adison Claire was extremely tense, not daring to breathe, watching Xiao Tian’s furrowed brows, clearly hearing her own heartbeat.

...

After a while, sweat was dripping from Xiao Tian’s forehead with beads of sweat popping out with the rhythmic opening and closing of pores, like being sprinkled with a fine mist of rain.

Nevertheless, this was still the result after being partly isolated by the mask on his face; behind the mask, Xiao Tian’s face was soaked with sweat.

As droplets of sweat rolled off his cheeks and fell to the floor, soon there was a puddle at his feet. In the reflection of the puddle, his grave expression was visible.

Time passed slowly, for Adison Claire waiting for the result was agonizing, but for Xiao Tian, it certainly wasn’t easy, as his appearance clearly showed.

This meticulous unraveling gave Xiao Tian a newfound understanding of the Water Drop Organization’s relentless insanity.

The virus Adison Claire mentioned indeed existed, but it wasn’t as Xiao Tian initially thought, hidden in a container. Once an anomaly occurred, it would be remotely detonated to spread in her body.

The person who planted the mutated virus seemed to have anticipated this day, thus opting not to contain it in a vessel but using Adison Claire’s own meridians and body structure to wrap it.

This way, even if Adison Claire found someone capable of extracting the mutated virus, they’d hesitate to act.

Simply put, due to Adison Claire’s body enveloping the virus, if Xiao Tian forcibly intervened, he wouldn’t need much effort—just disrupting a small part would allow him to rearrange the tangled meridians.

However, this would trigger the virus’s spread, and Adison Claire’s fate would remain the same—infected by the spreading virus.

Furthermore, since Adison Claire didn’t possess True Qi herself, she couldn’t immediately cooperate with Xiao Tian to encapsulate the virus with True Qi once her meridians were arranged, making the process even more challenging.

Of course, it wasn’t impossible to teach Adison Claire how to control the flow of True Qi, learning as she practiced.

However, controlling another’s True Qi or an external force inherently carries significant risk. Slight negligence can lead to loss of control.

Xiao Tian’s Iron Chain Cross River belongs to a violent type of cultivation technique. If it goes out of control, Adison Claire might be killed by the rampaging True Qi shattering her internal structure before the mutated virus infects her.

On top of that, Xiao Tian was still uncertain about the existence form of the mutated virus. If it’s in liquid form, recklessly rearranging Adison Claire’s meridians might cause the residual virus to spread throughout her body with the flow of blood, counterproductive.

Considering various factors, Xiao Tian decided to temporarily put the matter aside, cautiously pulling back the True Qi along the previous path.

While wiping the sweat from his face, Xiao Tian said, ”I must tell you, I’m not confident that I can completely remove the mutated virus from your body, so...”

Before he finished, Adison Claire shook her head with a smile and said, ”It’s okay, I’ve prepared for this. Rather than living like this, I’d rather try something. Regardless of the outcome, I’m very grateful to you!”

Having received Adison Claire’s absolution, Xiao Tian didn’t feel much relieved. Perhaps in confrontation, having the opponent’s life in one’s hands, the power to decide life and death at a whim would make him ecstatic!

But at this moment, the only thing Xiao Tian felt was pressure...
