God-Level Special Forces Soldier

Chapter 567: Chapter 564: Arrival at Jin City

Zong Jian, on the other end of the phone, felt a pang of sadness at his old friend’s somewhat melancholic words, realizing that his persuasion had not penetrated at all.

This point, Wang Peng is the same as he was back then; once provoked, he doesn’t care whose son or grandson you are—he’ll just go straight at you!

However, this time...

Zong Jian knew his old friend wouldn’t heed his advice, so he simply prayed silently for his safety!

But thinking from another angle, is Wang Peng’s poignant remark truly deserving of pity?

Perhaps as his old friend, Zong Jian might feel so; but when Wang Peng uses power, influence, and money to clean up after his treasured son, does he ever consider the feelings of the victims?

Your son is a son, but aren’t other people’s sons or daughters also their children?

Just because you have power and influence, does it mean you can act recklessly?

If that’s the case, then Wang Peng ending up with no friends at all is, bluntly speaking, simply his own doing!

Thinking of this, Zong Jian also sighed and directly hung up the phone...

This action, however, gave Wang Peng some comfort; if Zong Jian had offered some futile words of consolation like others, perhaps he really wouldn’t even have this one remaining friend!

Even though Wang Peng, as the Patriarch of the Wang Family, supposedly had friends all over, he merely saw them as companions who mutually exploited each other, standing in the same camp for shared interests.

Should they find greater interests elsewhere, they would unquestionably switch sides without hesitation; these friends bonded by interests only sullied and desecrated the true meaning of friendship in his heart!

...

Just then, the butler returned to the room, bowed, and said, ”The matter is clarified. According to those secret contacts, they were kidnapped by some mysterious men immediately upon receiving the news two days ago.”

”What puzzles them is that the kidnappers didn’t utter a word from start to finish, and throughout the kidnapping, they were blindfolded and unaware of the kidnappers’ faces. They also had three meals a day without suffering any violence!”

At this point, even a fool could guess who did it, but Wang Peng still stubbornly asked, ”Who do you think is behind this, messing things up?”

The butler sighed internally; as a brother and friend, Wang Peng was undoubtedly an impeccable choice. However, as a Patriarch needing adept handling, he indeed fell short!

If Wang Peng failed to see such obvious clues, the butler wouldn’t believe it; he just felt a mix of grief and anger over his misfortune.

Because of his weakness and kindness, those coveting his position didn’t even bother to disguise it, merely throwing a thin veil over their deceit.

They were aware that Wang Peng wouldn’t pull aside the nearly transparent veil, making the filth behind it appear before him.

Suppressing his discontent, the butler thought for a moment and said, ”If someone’s behind the scenes, it must be an insider!”

”Insider...” Wang Peng murmured, ”Insider!”

”It seems I have been too soft-hearted!” Wang Peng’s gaze turned cold, ”But before that, that person named Xiao Tian must pay the price!”

”Have there been any movements from those people on Kunlun Mountain recently?” Wang Peng, having decided on a course of action, asked.

The butler immediately replied, ”It’s still the same, though there are rumors of third-party forces showing signs of instability.”

”Oh?” Wang Peng raised an eyebrow, ”Tell me!” After all, it’s in Qing Province, concerning the Wang Family’s foundation, he had to be informed.

Moreover, he planned to pick someone from these third-party forces to kill Xiao Tian and avenge his beloved son!

”It is rumored that a woman killed one of them, but the matter was later suppressed.”

The butler analyzed, ”Although it didn’t cause a large-scale reaction, after this incident, it will likely make these scattered forces more distrustful of each other, severely diminishing the impact of a group plagued by mutual suspicion!”

Wang Peng said coldly, ”That’s their problem. Now, send someone to contact the people over there and have them reach out to the top twenty experts on the Dark List, offering ten million for that person named Xiao Tian’s head!”

Seeing the butler about to persuade him otherwise, Wang Peng waved his hand and said, ”I’m a bit tired; you may leave!”

The butler could only swallow his words and briskly walked out of Wang Peng’s room.

After the butler left, Wang Peng immediately arranged for a car and personally headed to the hospital...

——

The next morning, a bus departing from the Qing Province Public Security Bureau, carrying a group of people with dark circles under their eyes, arrived at their destination—Jin City Public Security Bureau.

With Zong Jian’s prior arrangement, the group was quickly greeted personally by the chief of Jin City Public Security Bureau. This extraordinary courtesy left everyone musing that following Xiao Tian comes with good treatment!

Of course, this thought could only remain unsaid; mentioning it to Yu Ningxue was utterly unwise.

Having slept poorly the previous night, everyone was soon taken to a clean and simple, yet not crude, hotel.

Once the group was settled for rest, Xiao Tian and Yu Ningxue followed the Jin City Public Security Bureau’s chief back to the precinct.

Since Zong Jian had only mentioned on the phone that they were comrades from Shanghai, the chief, surnamed Bai, named Bai Biaobing, wasn’t aware of Xiao Tian’s identity.

However, this hardly affected his regard for Xiao Tian and his companions; for Zong Jian, known for his old-fashioned ways, to personally call him, Bai Biaobing concluded that these people were far from appearing as they seemed on the surface!

The three settled into the chief’s office, where Bai Biaobing poured them hot water and said, ”You two must be weary from the journey; why not rest first? I’ve reserved a restaurant for lunch to welcome you!”

Yu Ningxue sipped some hot water from the cup and said, ”Let’s discuss business first!”

She then retrieved a file from her briefcase, bearing three stamps and four striking red characters.

The stamps were from the Shanghai City Public Security Bureau, Qing Province Public Security Bureau, and most astoundingly, the Huaxia Public Security Ministry.

Among them, the four bold red characters covered by the three stamps: Top Secret, left Bai Biaobing almost breathless!

In his twenty-five years of service, it was his first time seeing a classified document bearing the Ministry’s stamp!

Had the document number not been verifiable through the public security system, and had the person not been introduced by Zong Jian himself, Bai Biaobing might even suspect whether these self-proclaimed Shanghai arrivals were scam artists!

Being a top secret document, even if it were opened and laid before Bai Biaobing, he absolutely dared not take a glance.
