Chapter 494: Chapter 491: Perverted Lauren

At the moment when the two were locked in a fierce battle, both trying to force the other into revealing a weakness, Lauren, watching impatiently from the sidelines, suddenly displayed a frustrated expression. He abruptly removed the cross hanging around his neck and threw it as a hidden weapon between the two of them.

On the surface, Lauren’s hidden weapon seemed to have a random fifty-fifty chance, since Mingzhi Ginseng and the old butler were engaged in a seesaw battle, and it was uncertain who would get hit!

However, Xiao Tian knew clearly that the hidden weapon launched by Lauren was undoubtedly aimed at the old butler.

And the cross, used as a hidden weapon, was indeed extraordinary. Once thrown from Lauren’s hand, it spun rapidly toward the duo like a black disc.

The old butler’s face changed, revealing a hint of ferocity. Even Mingzhi Ginseng, who ought to be pleased, didn’t feel as happy as expected.

It wasn’t that Lauren’s move hurt him as well, but the dignity of a martial artist shouldn’t be trampled upon. Such a victory would be a lifelong disgrace, something he absolutely couldn’t tolerate.

Thus, Mingzhi Ginseng started assisting the old butler in dodging the incoming attack, causing the latter to look at him in a new light — wasn’t this guy afraid of a sudden strike from him?

In fact, Mingzhi Ginseng truly wasn’t afraid, because the current situation was obvious: the most formidable opposition had already been held in check by him, and the remaining ones lacked the power to interfere in the fight.

Moreover, if the old butler attacked him, he would use ninjutsu to dodge the blow, injuring the old butler severely on the spot.

Lauren noticed with displeasure that his supposed act of goodwill had turned two fighters destined to battle to the death into comrades, especially that elder from the Mizuno Clan, Mingzhi Ginseng; he acted like a total fool.

Offering help in good faith, yet instead of seizing the opportunity for a quick win, Mingzhi Ginseng helped the old man resist his own attempt?!

Momentarily, Lauren branded the Japanese as fools in his heart once more, then with a cold snort, he launched a razor-sharp iron playing card with a flick of his wrist, sending it spinning out rapidly.

Mingzhi Ginseng, with his back to the playing card, shuddered slightly, his ears twitched slightly, and an extremely dangerous and familiar feeling surfaced from the depths of his heart—akin to the first time he wielded a sword.

It was evident that the playing cards of Lauren had been coated with a potent poison!

Mingzhi Ginseng, realizing it was too late to turn and parry, suddenly positioned his long blade behind him while beginning to form seals with his hands, his body gradually becoming ethereal...

The poisoned playing card passed through Mingzhi Ginseng’s body, causing just a ripple in the illusory image before he reappeared, unharmed, in his original position. However, it was too late to block again!

The old butler, risking injury, swatted away the incoming cross, but the approaching playing card was too close for him to evade.

At the critical moment, a serene expression appeared on the old butler’s face, his body faintly emitting a glow.

Seeing this, both Mingzhi Ginseng and Lauren, who initially wore a mocking smile, felt a sinking feeling in their hearts — something was amiss!

The old butler, after a fierce battle with Mingzhi Ginseng, and having taken Lauren’s cross head-on, now felt like an arrow at the end of its flight, yet he still had confidence in gravely injuring at least one of them!

This was precisely the deadly scheme the old butler had in mind, which was what astounded Mingzhi Ginseng and Lauren.

Just as the old butler completed storing his energy for a final death strike, with Lauren and Mingzhi Ginseng both preparing to flee, a crisp ”Clang!” echoed across the ward, causing everyone’s eyes to widen in shock.

With that crisp sound, Lauren’s playing card was struck just half a meter before hitting the old butler, diverting it off course and embedding it into the wallpaper of the rear wall.

The iron playing card was embedded halfway, and within less than five seconds, the white wall began peeling around the card, revealing the red bricks underneath.

Eventually, when the wall was corroded, creating a large hole, the supportless playing card dropped to the floor with a metallic clank!

”...”

With this jaw-dropping scene unfolding, the Zhong Family’s experts collectively took a step back, only to find themselves against a wall, unable to retreat further as they nervously tiptoed away from the fallen playing card.

The cold sweat on the old butler’s forehead finally trickled down — what if that strike had hit him just now...?

He dared not dwell on the scenario any longer.

After a long pause, everyone’s gaze uniformly shifted to Xiao Tian, lying on the ground covered in blood. It was he who, at that critical moment, released a silver needle to strike the paper-thin playing card.

All that was visible to the crowd was Xiao Tian exerting a forceful flick, resulting in the menacing playing card altering its trajectory upon impact, while no one saw what Xiao Tian had launched.

Of course, part of the reason was due to their attention being elsewhere at the time, but this did not prevent their astonishment at his retained combat capability!

Only the old butler, Mingzhi Ginseng, and Lauren, the owner of the hidden weapon, realized how precise one must be in terms of strength and speed to accomplish such a strike, especially given Xiao Tian’s severe injuries. Had he been in peak condition, how terrifying would he have been?

Only now did Lauren carefully observe Xiao Tian lying on the ground, not expecting him to still possess fighting capability at this moment. Then, recalling Xiao Tian’s earlier efforts to restore his True Qi, Lauren nodded in understanding.

”You’ve probably used up every ounce of the True Qi you just regained, haven’t you?” Lauren stated, his gaze shifting to Lin Bingxuan, his eyes lighting up with wicked amusement: ”Such a beautiful lady, how about leaving that good-for-nothing and following me?!”

Xiao Tian slowly squinted, the dangerous aura he exuded causing Lauren’s heart to skip a beat, sensing the sudden drop in surrounding temperature.

Lauren was startled by the sudden chill. Though he knew it was merely psychological, it still led him to elevate his evaluation of Xiao Tian a few notches.

”Truly worthy of being the tenth-ranked Hunter on the Dark List!” Lauren sincerely praised, ”You’re the first to make me feel danger with just a look despite being seriously injured!”

This was one of the rare high praises to come out of Lauren’s mouth, although Xiao Tian wouldn’t likely feel honored knowing it, for only resentment and anger lingered!

Hatred for the Water Drop Organization tied to Liu Hanyan’s death, and fury for Lauren, a member of the Water Drop Organization, for teasing Lin Bingxuan!

Xiao Tian discerned the sarcasm and mockery in Lauren’s words, outweighing the lust and desire, but still sentenced him to death in his heart.

Feeling increasingly uneasy under Xiao Tian’s intense gaze, Lauren came forward attempting to lock eyes with him, only to surprise himself with his inability to meet those eyes!

”I know you’re strong. If the battle were in your prime, I wouldn’t stand a chance!” Lauren fairly evaluated, his expression changing as he suddenly stomped down on Xiao Tian’s hand pinned to the ground...
