Chapter 455: Chapter 452: Storming the Sect Gates

”How did Kai treat you two when he was alive?” The second young master of the Qian Family looked at the two who were complaining and asked.

The two young masters of the Niu Family and the Miao Family both lowered their heads without a word. Indeed, Lu Kai treated them quite well.

”Now that Kai is gone, can’t you even manage a basic visit?”

...

The Lu Family’s steward watched the three depart, listening to their conversation with a sigh, turned around, and closed the door behind him.

When he returned to Lu Neng’s side, the steward looked at the man he had served for half a lifetime, understanding that he was contemplating his revenge.

”What about the Zhong Family’s young master?” Lu Neng’s eyes lit up with determination, his voice grand, ”Coming to my territory to kill my son, he must die!”

”Master, please reconsider,” the steward advised. ”If we kill the Zhong Family’s young master, the retaliation from them...”

”Does he have any evidence?” Lu Neng’s gaze became fierce as he looked at the steward. ”Would the Zhong Family dare to act against our Lu Family without proof?”

”This?” The steward pondered for a moment and said, ”I think it’s a bit far-fetched, after all, the incident happened on our turf. If we claim ignorance when the time comes...”

Lu Neng waved to stop the steward’s advice. ”At worst, the Lu Family can stay in Lu Province; what can the Zhong Family do to us there?”

”This time, I will let those high and mighty families in Kyoto understand that the Lu Family has not been enduring in vain all these years!”

Having followed Lu Neng for many years, the steward knew his decision was final and further advice was useless, so he turned to arrange manpower.

—

Xiao Tian stood at the base of the mountain where the Dao Yi Sect was located, looked up at the towering peak shrouded in clouds, his gaze firmed, and he began to ascent step by step...

The Lu Family, truly the local powerhouse, gathered nearly a thousand highly skilled fighters within less than half an hour, riding in nearly twenty containers, grandly heading towards Xiao Tian’s location.

Twenty minutes later, Lu Neng opened the car door and stepped out, with the Dao Yi Sect’s location ahead. The road was a mountain path of narrow stone steps, and vehicles could go no further.

”Are you sure that little brat from the Zhong Family went up the mountain?” Lu Neng asked the steward beside him for confirmation.

The steward lit the cigar between Lu Neng’s fingers with a match, assuring him, ”Absolutely sure!”

Then he checked the watch on his wrist and said, ”It’s been a while since he’s gone up.”

Lu Neng exhaled a puff of smoke to hide his face, ordering harshly, ”Chase! A thousand for a slice of that kid!”

The fighters who had landed from the containers like dumplings suddenly gleamed in their eyes, howling and rushing up the mountain.

Halfway up, Lu Neng was already sweating and breathless, asking, ”Could that kid be hiding in some corner refusing to come out?”

The steward scanned around; now that they were halfway, the clouds separated above and below. If the kid really was hiding, he wouldn’t be easy to find.

Just as he was unsure how to answer Lu Neng’s question, a commotion arose ahead, and the message was quickly relayed to Lu Neng’s ears: the lead person had spotted Xiao Tian!

Lu Neng was instantly invigorated and stood up, asking, ”What’s the situation?”

Two minutes later, a message came: The situation is complex; it’s better if you come up.

”What’s so complex? Didn’t I say when you see him, kill him without a word?” Lu Neng shouted anxiously, and the people ahead relayed the message up.

Another two minutes later, a message came again, but only four words: Didn’t make it!

Lu Neng opened his mouth to ask, but the inefficiency of this back-and-forth message relay was unbearable, so he stomped his foot and resumed climbing.

It wasn’t that these people were all idiots, but after reaching halfway up the mountain, they found that there was no phone signal at all, and the walkie-talkies were completely useless, making only static noise.

Helpless, they could only communicate this way.

When Lu Neng finally reached the summit with the steward’s help, he was as exhausted as a dying dog, panting too heavily to speak.

This was the Lu Family patriarch’s own fault for having too many plans. Initially, he thought of having two people carry him, but didn’t realize the narrow path could only accommodate one person.

So he switched to having someone carry him on their back, but these martial artists were all lean, each weighing no more than 130 pounds, making it hard to carry someone near 300 pounds!

Every five minutes or so, the person below would pant heavily and gesture they couldn’t continue, leading to endless switching of people...

Too exhausted to continue, the Lu Family patriarch came up with a brilliant idea: have everyone stop and pass him along while lying flat...

This ingenious plan did indeed prevent constant shifting, but after nearly a thousand meters, an accident finally occurred...

During the passing, an overly skinny man caught the nearly 300-pound weight. Though one person at each end helped balance, he couldn’t hold it and wobbled...

Thus, the Lu Family patriarch nearly bid the world farewell.

After such a perilous experience, the Lu Family patriarch dared not try shortcuts again, personally walking the last fifth of the distance.

When Lu Neng finally caught his breath, looking at the majestic gate of the Dao Yi Sect ahead and the yellow line underfoot, he broke into a cold sweat.

If he’d taken one more step, he’d be a corpse.

This was the rule set by the Dao Yi Sect, and even as the Lu Family patriarch, Lu Neng didn’t dare to defy it.

Had he provoked the Dao Yi Sect, even the thousand people behind him wouldn’t be enough even if doubled the number.

Recalling that three years ago, the major forces of Lu Province united to attack the mountain, with nearly ten thousand people, even carrying weapons.

The Dao Yi Sect just opened the mountain gate with a lofty ”please, come” attitude, and like mud into the sea, there wasn’t even a ripple. All those elite soldiers vanished without a trace.

Afterward, the Dao Yi Sect was unscathed, and naturally, no one dared to investigate.

Staring at the empty mountain gate, Lu Neng angrily asked, ”Where is he?”

”He... he’s in there!”

The strongest man at the front stammered.

”In there?” Lu Neng’s eyes widened with rage. ”Didn’t he face any resistance?”

”There were two gatekeepers trying to question him, but he seemed oblivious, punching each one three meters away.” The man swallowed hard, ”Then he barged right in!”

Lu Neng was stunned by this shocking news, taking a moment to process it, then asked, ”Did you see it with your own eyes?”

”Absolutely!”

With this confirmed response, Lu Neng became a bit nervous and hurriedly asked, ”Did the Dao Yi Sect people see you?”
