God-Level Special Forces Soldier

Chapter 477: Chapter 474: The Rules of the Assassin Realm

Generally speaking, most assassins work alone. ”One million, help me take this person out!”

Lu Neng calmly stated his terms and handed Lauren a personal dossier, with none other than Ren Wenshan, who was blackmailing him, pictured above.

Lauren swiftly scanned the two sheets and named his price: ”Three million!”

Lu Neng was overjoyed inside, but outwardly he appeared very troubled. He gritted his teeth, acting as if he was making a huge concession, and nodded vigorously: ”Deal!”

Inwardly, Lu Neng mocked the foreigner for being an idiot; his business acumen revealed itself in that moment.

If one were to hire a top Huaxia assassin, they would have to pay a ten percent commission based on the employer’s profit.

Considering Ren Wenshan’s demand of one hundred million, the commission alone would be at least ten million, but hiring this Water Drop Organization’s Four Stars agent only required three million.

And their success rate was much higher than that of the local Huaxia hitmen!

Initially, Lu Neng’s offer of one million was without sincerity, intended not for agreement but to test the limits of the other side.

Even a child in Huaxia understands the basic principle of starting with a high asking price and bargaining down, but Lauren, not being a Huaxia person, had no knowledge of Lu Province’s number one’s deep strategy.

Despite being a Four-Pointed Star officer within the Water Drop Organization, and ranked as a mid-level cadre, with naturally high skills—otherwise, the Water Drop people wouldn’t send him to Shanghai to die in vain!

This highly skilled assassin, however, seemed a bit naïve and regarded no one in high esteem.

Of course, for Lauren to hold a stable position among the Four-Pointed Stars, he wasn’t completely clueless.

Upon seeing Ren Wenshan as just an ordinary, albeit somewhat cunning, person, he thought Lu Neng’s price reasonable. Yet, being a negotiation, it shouldn’t close too easily.

Therefore, he quoted three million, planning that Lu Neng would certainly bargain it down. His bottom line was two million.

With back-and-forth negotiations, as long as the price stayed above two million, he planned to agree, and the deal would be settled.

Unexpectedly, this Huaxia tycoon agreed on the initial offer, leaving Lauren secretly regretting that he didn’t ask for more!

However, since the other party accepted his quoted price without haggling, the transaction was valid, and Lauren couldn’t suddenly raise the price.

The basic professional ethics must be upheld; this is universal no matter the country, or the industry would fall into chaos!

There was once an exceptionally talented figure in the assassin world known as the emperor of the assassin realm, having never failed a mission since their debut.

This top assassin, with a hundred percent completion rate, once faced unexpected additional security during a target assassination, forcing them to change the original plan.

To maintain his perfect completion rate, he lay dormant for a year before finally seizing the chance, expending great effort to kill the target!

When settling the payment with the employer, he doubled the agreed fee, but the employer refused.

Recalling the hardships of the past year, the top assassin considered his demand reasonable, leading to a standoff with neither side backing down.

In anger, the top assassin killed the employer, leading to a collective outcry from peers across the industry, accusing him of tarnishing the assassin’s reputation!

With immense skills, fearing no industry backlash, the top assassin naturally rampaged on.

Peers, rallying under the banner of reputation protection, declared justice would prevail and attacked the top assassin.

Ultimately, the outcome was tragic; at first, the top assassin demonstrated unmatched skill, decimating the hastily gathered coalition.

This isn’t to say the top assassin was stronger than nearly a hundred of the industry’s famed peers combined, but because the nature of the profession makes one plus one not necessarily greater than two.

Used to solitary actions, most people were cooperating for the first time.

They genuinely feared all rushing in, worried that the top assassin might go berserk with a massive destructive weapon and take everyone down with him!

Mutual suspicion, combined with natural lack of coordination, assured defeat once sudden war erupted!

As time passed, the top assassin initially formidable, grew weaker, encouraging peers to intensify assassination attempts.

Their tactics became increasingly sharp, grinding down the top assassin’s strength while preserving their own, each hoping to take him down for fame!

Ultimately, the top assassin was indeed killed, but the victorious peers found no joy.

The half-month-long chase, with cries of justice, cost two-thirds of their lives, not counting late joiners.

Such a victory, even if a true victory, was pyrrhic and far from glorious.

Naturally, the peers were not as noble as their slogans, each harbored hidden jealously!

All doing deals for commissions, all lives on the line—why was his higher than ours?

Attempts were made to negotiate with the top assassin, seeking a compromise to restore industry balance.

But the top assassin sneered at their words, refusing to relent.

The tallest tree invites the strongest winds; for such balance-breaking existence, peers naturally desired his swift death, uniting to eliminate him.

This absurd drama eventually evolved into one of the assassin world’s unwritten rules: once a deal is established, regardless of unforeseen costs, the fee must not unilaterally increase!

Seeing assassination as a secondary career, Lauren dared not recklessly break the rule, risking pursuit by peers!

...

Not long after leaving the dark room, a call came to Lu Neng from an unfamiliar number, his face turned fierce, and he guessed the caller’s identity with uncanny accuracy!

”Master Lu, when will my money be transferred?”

Hearing Ren Wenshan’s indifferent tone, Lu Neng snorted coldly: ”I could transfer it all at once, but I doubt you’d dare move a penny!”
