Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 596: Chapter 596: Strength is Supreme

Back when he first subdued the Black-striped Tiger, it was exceptionally afraid of Little Ape. This was, of course, because Little Ape’s bloodline had a powerful suppressive effect on it.

Now, the Black-striped Tiger had broken through to Tier Four, and so had Little Ape. However, the auras they exuded were vastly different.

Although both were Tier Four Demon Beasts, Little Ape’s aura was clearly a cut above the Black-striped Tiger’s. So, the moment it saw Little Ape arrive, a sheepish smile immediately appeared on the Black-striped Tiger’s ferocious face.

”Heh heh, Brother Yuan.” With a fawning smile, the Black-striped Tiger happily approached Little Ape.

Seeing this, Little Ape also gave a slight smile. ”You dumb tiger, can’t even kill cleanly. Big Brother is waiting for you. Go explain yourself to him.”

At these words, the Black-striped Tiger finally looked over at Lin Yun, who was standing nearby. Seeing Lin Yun watching it with a smile, the tiger took a few steps forward and spoke with excitement.

”Master...”

The Black-striped Tiger had grown enormous. Its body was over eight meters long and stood more than three meters tall at the shoulder, towering over Lin Yun. Standing before him, it looked incredibly fierce.

”I’ve heard all about it,” Lin Yun said to the Black-striped Tiger with a light laugh. ”Don’t come to the Imperial Palace to cause trouble anymore.”

Hearing this, the Black-striped Tiger assumed the Forbidden Guard Army had tattled to the Lin Family again and shot a glare at the surrounding guards. Faced with the tiger’s enormous, baleful eyes, every one of the guards instinctively took a step back.

”Don’t threaten them. Did you hear me?” Lin Yun said upon seeing this.

”Fine.” Even though the Black-striped Tiger was reluctant, it couldn’t defy Lin Yun’s words and agreed immediately.

Seeing Lin Yun again, the Black-striped Tiger asked, both nervous and excited, ”Master, now that you’re back, can I go with you this time?”

Initially, the Black-striped Tiger had followed Lin Yun partly because of the suppression from Little Ape’s bloodline, and partly because it wanted to become stronger.

But after spending a long time with Lin Yun, it felt more and more that its decision to follow him had been the right one. ’Without Lin Yun, I’d probably still be just another Tier Three Demon Beast in the Imperial City Mountain Range.’

Hearing the tiger’s question, Lin Yun smiled and nodded. Now that the Black-striped Tiger had broken through to Tier Four, its strength was on a completely different level. Besides, his father, Lin Xiaotian, had also reached the Celestial Spirit Realm, so no one in the Royal Family could threaten his parents anymore.

As Lin Yun stroked the Black-striped Tiger’s massive head, he was unaware that a young woman was staring at him blankly from the entrance of the Purple Gold Hall.

The young woman was none other than the Ninth Princess, whom Lin Yun had met once before. ’In just a few short years, Lin Yun has grown this powerful. Forget me—even my own father, the Emperor, would have to tread carefully around him now.’

After a long moment, the Ninth Princess snapped back to reality. Seeing Lin Yun about to leave, she hurried after him, calling out, ”Young Master Lin, please wait!”

Hearing her voice, Lin Yun turned. He saw the Ninth Princess running toward him and stopped.

”Ninth Princess,” Lin Yun greeted with a faint smile.

”Young Master Lin, my father, the Emperor, requests your presence in the Main Hall for a talk.” Looking at Lin Yun, the Ninth Princess sighed inwardly. ’Lin Yun and I are from completely different worlds now. In his presence, my father, whom I always thought was all-powerful, suddenly seems so much less imposing.’

Hearing this, Lin Yun glanced at the Purple Gold Hall. ’This place was once the apex of power in Yanhuang Country,’ he thought, ’but now, I could destroy it with a single wave of my hand.’

”Thank you, Ninth Princess.” Lin Yun did not refuse. He spoke politely and followed her toward the Purple Gold Hall.

He left the Black-striped Tiger outside to catch up with Little Ape, as the two hadn’t seen each other in a long time. Lin Yun then entered the Purple Gold Hall alone with the Ninth Princess.

The Purple Gold Hall hadn’t changed, but upon seeing it again, Lin Yun felt it seemed almost shabby. It was nothing compared to the Main Hall of the Flawless Palace.

Upon entering the Purple Gold Hall, Lin Yun saw the Emperor of Yanhuang Country. He was not seated on the Imperial Platform, because he knew that with Lin Yun’s current strength and status, his throne was nothing but a joke in Lin Yun’s eyes.

”Young Master Lin.” The Emperor bowed to Lin Yun. All traces of his former imperious bearing were gone.

”Your Majesty is too courteous,” Lin Yun replied calmly.

”Please...” The Emperor gestured for Lin Yun to be seated. The two of them went to a pair of chairs that had been prepared below the Imperial Platform. The Emperor understood the situation perfectly; not only was he sitting at the same level as Lin Yun, but his chair was not the Throne—it was an ordinary one, identical to Lin Yun’s.

”Young Master Lin, I was not aware you had graced the Capital City with your presence, so I failed to welcome you properly. I hope you will not take offense.” The moment he sat down, the Emperor adopted a very humble attitude, his tone deeply respectful.

”It’s fine. Your Majesty, if you have something to say, please speak freely.” Lin Yun’s tone was placid. He wasn’t about to get conceited just because the Emperor was being so deferential. To be frank, with his current perspective, the Emperor’s attitude was nothing to get excited about.

’He’s being so respectful, and he even had the Ninth Princess personally invite me to the Purple Gold Hall. He must want something from me.’

In the past, because Lin Yun had entered the Thunder God Hall, the Yanhuang Royal Family had put a massive bounty on his head. During that period, Lin Yun had to live as a fugitive, hiding his identity and unable to even return home.

However, that was also the period that forced Lin Yun to truly mature, laying an incredibly solid foundation for his future, especially regarding his Mental Realm.

As it turned out, the Emperor had called Lin Yun in for a simple reason: the matter of the Black-striped Tiger.

For a year now, the Black-striped Tiger had been coming to the Imperial Palace to wreak havoc every so often. No one in the palace could stop its wanton killing.

Although they had reported the matter to Lin Xiaotian, the word back from him was that he couldn’t control the Black-striped Tiger either.

And so, upon learning of Lin Yun’s return, the Emperor had eagerly invited him in. His intention was obvious: he hoped Lin Yun would make the Black-striped Tiger stop its rampages in the Imperial Palace.

After listening to the Emperor, Lin Yun smiled faintly. ”I will speak to the Black-striped Tiger about this. As long as the Royal Family doesn’t provoke my parents again, it will no longer come to the Imperial Palace to kill.”

”Of course, of course...” the Emperor said respectfully.

”Young Master Lin... There is one more matter. It concerns your father. He was once one of the three Grand Generals of Yanhuang Country. It is a great pity that, because of my mistake, it led to... I was wondering if your father has any intention of serving the country once more?” a slightly stammering Emperor asked after the issue with the Black-striped Tiger was settled.
