Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 600: Chapter 322: A Family Tradition

There weren’t many people coming to this place for lunch today, because it wasn’t yet the usual lunchtime.

Summer Spencer contacted Nathan, specially finding an opportunity while he was on a business trip to the Capital City, and chose a place that was quite discreet but not too hidden.

Isn’t there a saying, ”Great concealment lies in the city”?

Although they didn’t need ”great concealment,” settling this matter over a casual lunch should be of no difficulty.

She just didn’t expect that, at this moment, in this expensive and remote place, there would be a familiar face!

But actually, it wouldn’t matter even if Lawrence Winters heard it, as she was completely uninterested in Blake Leaf’s matters.

Even if Summer Spencer cheated Blake Leaf out of his entire fortune, it had nothing to do with her.

She had done good deeds so many times, only to mess up when it came to Blake Leaf.

Lawrence Winters hadn’t cursed Blake Leaf with voodoo dolls out of respect for the Three Billion Sister.

Therefore, she didn’t let any hint slip and returned to her seat beside Edward Foster with a smile, saying, ”Full yet? How about we get back to work?”

Edward Foster nodded and returned to the company with her.

After sending her to her office, Edward Foster said, ”Recently, the films are hard to sell. I’ve registered for this year’s TV station’s joint drama trading festival to gauge the market response.”

Lawrence Winters was slightly stunned, ”... Lucas’s new drama hasn’t sold yet?”

”Mainly because post-production hasn’t started yet, there are only a few rough clips, and I’m not very satisfied.” Edward Foster awkwardly shoved his hands into his pockets, a trace of anxiety appearing on his face more handsome than any woman’s.

Lawrence Winters blinked, smiling, ”Can you send me the clips? I’ll see what can be done to catch attention.”

”No problem. I’ll send the clips to you later; they’re all without post-production, so they might be a bit laughable.” Edward Foster smiled and shook his head, ”Have you ever seen raw clips without post-production?”

Lawrence Winters shook her head, smiling, ”It’s okay, everything has its first.”

After Edward Foster returned to his office, he quickly sent those clips to Lawrence Winters’ inbox.

Lawrence Winters clicked open the first one and nearly laughed herself breathless.

The first segment was the male and female leads confessing their love, supposedly the highlight of the show.

In the familiar immortal drama Lawrence Winters knew, this would be a scene with dreamy, god-like male and female leads confessing under flowering trees.

But in this raw clip without post-production, Lawrence Winters saw two ethereal, immortal-clad figures standing under a long, slender bamboo pole.

Behind them was a large green screen as the backdrop, the ground was an uneven, dusty, black-gray surface, the dust clearly visible.

Not far off, even wires got shot in, evidently a blooper.

In this chaotic environment, the male and female leads were still looking at each other with slight shyness, exchanging blush-inducing lines.

”Senior brother, I thought I loved someone else, that’s why I did so many things that hurt you. I now know I was wrong, I love you, I’ve loved you all along, can you forgive me?”

The junior sister wore a cherry-pink long dress, the palm-wide waistband making her waist look very slim.

The long dress was made of layers of sheer fabric, not noticeable when she stood still.

A light breeze blew, and the long dress immediately fluttered like rolling waves.

Such a beautiful scene, but unfortunately, Lawrence Winters also noticed the electric fan not far away.

The wind blowing from the fan did not feel beautiful, only absurd.

It completely destroyed the scene’s beauty and passion.

It was rare for Lucas Harlow, playing the senior brother, to still look deeply affectionate at the junior sister.

He listened silently, with little expression on his face, conveying all his feelings with his eyes.

When hearing the junior sister say she thought she loved someone else, his gaze was dim, his phoenix eyes tapering at the ends, his lashes slightly trembling, making people feel he might cry the next moment.

But he didn’t, he simply let out a light sigh, the gentle breath causing the junior sister’s thin bangs to part slightly, revealing a smooth forehead.

When hearing the junior sister say she loved him, his eyes suddenly grew bright, not like stars, but rather like the brilliant March sunshine.

Warm but not glaring, full of hope.

Finally, the junior sister asked, can you forgive me?

He still said nothing but extended his arms, gently embracing the junior sister in his arms.

His embracing posture was special, and his wide-sleeved ancient garments perfectly enveloped the junior sister’s entire back.

The whole person was nestled in his embrace, neither too tight nor too loose, just right.

His embrace seemed tailor-made for her.

By this point, Lawrence Winters was already oblivious to the chaotic scene around.

Those green giant backdrop screens, the messy black floor, and even the blooper shots not far away weren’t a concern.

She was fully immersed, even feeling a sense of empathy.

Only when the senior brother spoke, lowering his lashes, responding to the junior sister’s confession, ”... Okay, we’ll be together forever.”

The tenderness, affection in his expression, and his voice, low and resonant, struck directly at the softest part of the heart.

Lawrence Winters burst into tears at just those words, not even knowing why he was crying.

The film finished screening, and Lawrence was so absorbed in Lucas Harlow’s exquisite performance that it took him a long time to come back to his senses.

She took out a tissue to wipe her face, thinking, if this film doesn’t become a hit, she’ll gouge her eyes out and be blind for the rest of her life!

Swearing fiercely, Lawrence called Edward Foster, ”Edward, if you trust me, I want to give the footage to someone I trust for preliminary post-production work. I want to achieve the effect I’m looking for before presenting it to you for review. What do you think?”

Because the footage belongs to the company and is still confidential, it can’t be shown to outsiders without authorization.

Edward was quite surprised, saying, ”You want to find someone to work on it? Actually, I already found a company, a special effects company under one of my buddies. They’ve agreed to rush it for me and finish the post-production in two weeks.”

Lawrence didn’t know how long it would take to make the footage, but she didn’t want to wait.

She had a lot of ideas and wanted someone to help her bring them to life.

But she wasn’t sure if that person could help her.

So after pondering for a while, Lawrence said, ”Edward, how about this, if you can authorize me, I’ll try to get someone to do the special effects and post-production for the first piece of footage. The other three can be done by someone else. If nothing unexpected happens, I should be able to finish it by this weekend.”

The piece where they confess their feelings for each other, Lawrence had to have it in her own hands.

She knew that this footage would absolutely be the most captivating part of the whole series, so it had to be done perfectly.

Edward thought for a moment and said, ”Since you’ll be able to finish it over the weekend, let’s give it a try. I’ll authorize it, and send it to your email shortly.”

He didn’t even ask who Lawrence was going to hire for the post-production, just said, ”I won’t let your friend do it for free. Send me the bill when it’s done, and I’ll have the finance department take care of it.”

Lawrence was pleasantly surprised, and realized she could earn some money!

She hadn’t thought of this earlier!

”Thank you, Edward! I’ll make sure he sends you the bill!” Lawrence happily hung up the phone.

Edward was bewildered, thinking this girl was truly unpredictable.

Just as he hung up the phone, his mother called.

”Edward, who were you talking to just now? I heard you’re pursuing a girl, is it true?” Mrs. Foster anxiously asked the question she was most concerned about.

Edward hadn’t intended to say anything, but he wasn’t good at keeping secrets.

His feelings for Lawrence had been in his heart for a long time, but aside from trading barbs with Lucas Harlow, he hadn’t mentioned it to anyone else.

Now that his mother asked, Edward couldn’t help but say, ”Mom, I really like a girl. This time it’s different from any other.”

”You say that every time,” Mrs. Foster replied, pursing her lips, ”Have you forgotten those few starlets?”

”Mom, this time it’s really different. I can get up at five in the morning to drive half an hour and then wait in line for another half hour just to buy her breakfast, and then not dare to tell her it’s specially for her.”

”I create every convenience for her work, yet I claim to treat every employee equally.”

”Seeing her happy about something makes me keep doing it, hoping she’ll stay happy.”

Edward touched his heart, ”Tell me, how can this be the same?”

Mrs. Foster was almost moved to tears, ”Son, you finally understand what it’s like to love someone.”

”Mom, do you think I’ve found someone I can marry?”

”If it feels like this, then yes, only then will marriage be happy.”

Mrs. Foster was very curious about the girl who had won her son’s heart, ”...Tell Mommy, what kind of person is she?”

Edward was embarrassed to say he was pursuing a ”married woman”, so he only said, ”She’s a very complex person, and I haven’t even figured out what kind of person she is.”

”Sometimes she’s very money-minded, but sometimes she regards money as dirt.”

Mrs. Foster was puzzled, ”She’s money-minded, yet you say she treats money like dirt?”

Edward naturally said, ”Because she chose a man whose family background is far inferior to mine.”

Mrs. Foster was taken aback, almost choked.

She coughed for a while before saying, ”...Son, are you saying you consider yourself dirt?”

”I didn’t say that!”

”How could you not? Listen to yourself!”

”She regards money as dirt because she chose someone less than me. — By deduction, aren’t you that ’money’ regarded as ’dirt’?”

”Mom! That’s not important! What’s important is, she chose a man from a family not as good as mine, and with less money than me!” Edward was driven crazy by his mom.

Mrs. Foster laughed, then remembered something and suddenly said, ”...You just mentioned she already has a boyfriend? And you’re still pursuing her?”

”Why can’t I?” Edward stubbornly said, ”It’s in my DNA! When Dad was courting you, didn’t you already have a boyfriend too!”
