Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 555: Chapter 298: Fragrant Robes and Shadowed Hair (First Update)

Spring Spencer quietly looked at Ava Harlow, her eyes flickered slightly, and she pressed her lips, but in the end, she said nothing.

She stood up, spread her arms wide, and twirled in front of Ava Harlow, smiling as she asked, ”Mom, how does my outfit look?”

Ava Harlow smiled at her, nodded, ”Pretty good, very nice.”

But her gaze seemed unfocused, as if she were looking through Spring Spencer into some distant place, or perhaps she was looking at Spring Spencer and reminiscing about someone else.

Spring Spencer sighed inwardly, slowly sat down beside Ava Harlow, and softly reminded her, ”Mom, Dad is not someone who tolerates others. Although he has many women, he won’t allow his women to have other men in their hearts.”

Ava Harlow suddenly snapped back to reality, shivering involuntarily.

The wistful expression faded from the corners of her eyes and brows, and she returned to being the poised second mistress, more stylish than many wives of the nobility.

She glanced at Spring Spencer with a smile, and remarked, ”Actually, Mr. Spencer has so many children, but clearly you are the most like him in temperament; your mannerisms are cut from the same mold. — It’s a shame you’re not a son.”

If Spring Spencer were a son, Ava Harlow would have long been sitting in the position of Mrs. Spencer, rather than having Brooke Osborne, meek and timid, pluck the fruits.

Ava Harlow had always been uncontent in her heart.

Spring Spencer smiled without comment and said, ”I’m not as flirtatious as Dad, nor as ruthless.”

”...That’s true.” Ava Harlow shook her head, ”This time Summer Spencer accomplished great things, your dad will be even less pleased with you.

”That’s my fate.” Spring Spencer said with a faint smile, ”So, I have to rely on myself and be self-sufficient.”

She picked up a fruit knife and peeled an apple for Ava Harlow, slowly saying, ”Mom, do you think Mr. Sheldon really does business in this way? Sheldon’s company made a fortune on the stock market abroad more than a month ago; they even bought a port in a key foreign strait, which is a hugely profitable transaction.”

She placed the peeled apple in Ava Harlow’s hand and probed, ”I’m constantly looking for ways to make money, with the money you gave me and my savings, if we can find opportunities to invest with the Sheldon Family, we won’t have to worry for the rest of our lives.”

Spring Spencer knew Ava Harlow valued money even more, except she usually didn’t show it.

Unexpectedly, Ava Harlow immediately rejected the idea, frowning as she said, ”With money, are you still afraid of not finding good investment opportunities? The Sheldon’s business is theirs; it’s never shared with outsiders, so don’t try to involve them.”

”I just thought since you’re related to Mrs. Sheldon...” Spring Spencer said awkwardly, seeing no hope there, she closed her mouth.

...

At twilight, the lights began to illuminate the city.

The convention center building in the heart of Z City in the Southern Region was beautifully adorned.

The roof of the entire building, seen from the front, was stretched into a ”W” shape.

For the wedding, peacock feathers were added to the ”W,” and swathes of white fine gauze were draped downwards.

From a bird’s-eye view, it looked like a phoenix ready to take flight!

The archway columns at the entrance of the convention center were adorned with fresh flowers flown in from abroad.

Mostly roses, with dots of monthly flowers along the edges, serving as perfect adornments.

Inside the convention center, tables and chairs were arranged along the four walls, with 250 tables on each side.

A red-carpeted aisle was exposed in the middle, leading to the high-built altar at the end.

The altar also had an iron arch painted in white, decorated entirely with ivory lilies.

Seen from below, one could only see an arch made of lilies.

The groom and bride would stand under the arch, with the priest officiating the wedding.

On both sides of the altar, relatives from both the groom’s and bride’s families would stand.

Summer Spencer and Blake Leaf were the first to arrive at the convention center in an extended Rolls-Royce.

They needed to do their styling, change clothes, and wait for the ceremony to begin.

As they exited the car, looking at the renewed convention center, they were overwhelmed with excitement.

Blake Leaf held Summer Spencer’s hand firmly, solemnly promising, ”Summer, I will treat you well for the rest of my life.”

”Is that so? Then I’ll wait and see.” Summer Spencer was both blissful and proud.

Blake Leaf was a potential stock in her view, and when the time came, she would make everyone who doubted her choice have their eyes opened wide!

Hand in hand, they ascended the steps of the convention center.

As they passed the flower-adorned archway, the atmosphere became solemn.

They simultaneously felt a sense of sanctity.
