Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 583: Chapter 313: One’s Own Child Is Always the Best (First Update)

Ruby Sheldon returned home feeling downcast and immediately noticed her mom sitting solemnly on the sofa.

Her mom held a cigarette in her hand, although she wasn’t smoking it. The smoke curled up, blurring her face.

Autumn Stetford sat elegantly askew with her legs crossed, holding a fine jade cigarette holder, looking like a beauty from an old-style calendar.

Ruby Sheldon immediately laughed and ran over to Autumn, ”Mom! It’s so good to see you!”

She flung herself into Autumn’s arms, burying her whole self in her chest.

Autumn affectionately patted her head and said, ”Why are you back so soon? Did you have fun?”

”I’ve been there for five days, didn’t you miss me, Mom?” Ruby hugged Autumn’s neck, acting coquettishly. ”I’ve been thinking about Dad and Mom every day. I couldn’t stay any longer, so I came back.”

”Your sweet little mouth! Not many can speak as well as you.” Autumn’s eyes narrowed with a smile.

In fact, there are many who can speak better than Ruby, but of course, a mother’s child is always the best.

Autumn patted Ruby’s back and said, ”Go take a shower. I’ll take you out for dinner tonight.”

”Okay, Mom!” Ruby stood up happily, walked a few steps, then turned back to ask, ”Where’s Dad? Is Dad coming too?”

”Of course.” Autumn nodded at her, ”I’ll call your dad right now.”

”Great! I want to eat foreign cuisine! Garlic butter baked snails! Fig sweet wine pan-fried foie gras! The main course should be sturgeon caviar with sour cream crisps!” Ruby excitedly listed several dishes.

Each of these dishes costs four figures or more at a high-end restaurant.

The sturgeon caviar she asked for could reach five figures.

Adding imported wines, appetizers, and desserts, a meal for three could cost an average worker’s annual salary.

But for the Sheldon family, it’s trivial, like when an average worker goes to a restaurant for hot pot, not a big expense at all.

Autumn laughed, ”Perfect, I’ve been wanting to eat sturgeon caviar too. I’ll have Secretary Liu make the reservations.”

Ruby happily spun around, struck a ballet pose, and skipped down the hallway.

Just as she rounded the corner of the hallway, she heard Autumn’s phone ringing.

Autumn answered the phone and said sternly, ”Did you find out? Why did my private account suddenly lose ten million this afternoon for no reason?”

”Mrs. Sheldon, it’s like this, Mr. Sheldon authorized us to withdraw from your private account. Mr. Sheldon also has access to your private account.”

Autumn was quite surprised, ”Aiden did it? Does he need the money?”

The person on the other end chuckled, ”For the details, you should ask Mr. Sheldon.”

Autumn replied with an ”Mm,” ended the call, and started dialing Aiden Sheldon’s number.

Ruby heard the figure ”ten million” and somehow it felt familiar.

She couldn’t move any further and just turned back from the corner.

Autumn was focused on calling and didn’t notice Ruby had returned.

She dialed several times before getting through to Aiden Sheldon’s phone.

”Hey Autumn, what’s up?” Aiden Sheldon sounded busy, and his voice was a bit hoarse, clearly from staying up late at work.

Autumn felt a bit distressed and first said, ”Aiden, have you been working overtime again? Why don’t you take care of yourself? There’s no end to making money, and you don’t need to work so hard. Whatever you need, just ask me directly. What’s mine is yours. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have given you access to my private account.”

Aiden rubbed his forehead, smelling a hint of sweat on himself.

He indeed stayed up several nights, catching quick naps with his head on the desk and getting back to work as soon as he woke up.

Only now was there some progress, and he didn’t need to work temporarily.

His mind shifted from running at high speed to slowing down, experiencing a sudden slowdown.

So his reactions were a bit slow.

Aiden composed himself, understood why Autumn was calling.

He calmly said, ”You’re talking about the ten million I had moved from your account this afternoon, right?”

Autumn paused and said with a smile, ”If it’s you who needs the money, I wouldn’t say a word even if you emptied the account.”

”Why would I need your money?” Aiden chuckled, ”Did you forget what you said yourself? I did it for your benefit, so you wouldn’t break your promise—that’s why I had ten million transferred out.”

”Me? What does it have to do with me?” Autumn honestly couldn’t recall spending ten million on anything lately.

Though she is very wealthy, ten million isn’t a small amount, and there’s no way she could have spent it without any memory of it.
