Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 574: Chapter 307: My Reverse Scale (Second Update)

”Hmm, what you owe me is enough. Spend a lifetime paying it back. I’ll settle Aiden’s favor.” Kenneth Osborne laughed and pulled her hand back, walking together toward Aiden Sheldon’s car.

Aiden’s bodyguard opened the car door for the back seat, signaling them to get in.

Aiden moved to the other side of the car, leaving the middle and the seat by the door for Kenneth Osborne and Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters being a woman, was slimmer, so usually, she should sit in the middle.

But she didn’t want to pay attention to Aiden, so she let Kenneth sit in the middle.

Once they were in the car, Kenneth sent the nearest address of the local marriage registration office to the driver.

After finding the address and confirming the route, the driver headed that way.

Due to the previous accident, the road was still a bit congested now.

Aiden asked Kenneth, ”When are you having the wedding?”

Kenneth laughed, ”Soon. Once we get the certificate, we’ll start preparing for the wedding. Will you grace us with your presence, Aiden?”

”No, I never attend weddings.” Aiden said coolly, picking up his phone.

Lawrence was annoyed hearing that, tugged at the corner of her mouth, and smiled, ”Is that so? You’ve never even attended your own wedding?”

She knew Aiden was married, and his wife Autumn Stetford was also someone of considerable background.

Of course, Lucas Harlow was Autumn’s half-brother, which Lawrence was also aware of.

Everyone knows the Stetford Family’s status overseas.

Would someone from such a family marry you without a wedding? That’s wishful thinking.

Aiden hadn’t expected Lawrence to catch the loophole in his words, feeling quite displeased.

However, he didn’t engage in verbal sparring with Lawrence but turned on his phone to continue a video call with Ruby.

This time, he directly called Ruby’s phone.

Ruby was constantly worried about Aiden’s safety, unable to rest.

The video call from Aiden came through, and she immediately clicked to accept.

”Dad! Are you okay?!” Ruby asked with concern.

”I’m fine. How could anything happen to me?” Seeing Ruby made Aiden feel much better, ”Betty, don’t worry about me. Get some rest. I’ll come to see you once I’m done.”

”Dad? You still have things to do? Didn’t you say you’d come to see me right away?” Ruby was so upset that she was almost crying.

On the video call, her oval face looked pitifully tearful, very endearing.

Aiden lowered his voice a bit, ”Dad has some urgent business. I’ll make a detour and then head back. You get some sleep first. By the time you wake up, Dad will be there.” As he spoke, he rubbed his brows with one hand, and the hand holding the phone trembled slightly, veering off to the side.

Ruby caught a glimpse of the man sitting next to Aiden—Kenneth Osborne—the same young man she saw earlier who demonstrated impressive physical prowess.

Ruby wasn’t an athletic enthusiast herself, so she particularly admired anyone skilled in sports, including those who could do martial arts, which she considered ”good at sports.”

So she immediately exclaimed, ”Dad! Who’s that person sitting next to you? Is it Mr. Osborne? Are you attending to something with Mr. Osborne?”

Aiden didn’t directly answer her but just shifted the phone towards Kenneth, saying, ”Yes, it’s Mr. Osborne. He has some business, and I’m giving him a ride. It won’t take long.”

When he tilted the phone, the camera inevitably showed Lawrence sitting on the other side of Kenneth.

Ruby saw this and surprisingly said, ”...Did I see that right? Dad, how come Sister Lawrence is in your car? Didn’t you hate Sister Lawrence?”

Upon saying this, she immediately covered her mouth and said regretfully, ”Sorry, Dad. Sorry, Sister Lawrence. I didn’t mean it; it’s my fault. My dad doesn’t hate Sister Lawrence at all; it’s just me talking nonsense. Please don’t blame my dad!”

Lawrence rolled her eyes and said lightly, ”Miss Sheldon, no need to apologize. You weren’t wrong. Your dad does indeed dislike me, and I dislike him as well.”

Then she flattered Ruby, ”Of course, someone as delightful as Miss Sheldon is certainly liked by everyone. I dislike your father, but I really like Miss Sheldon.”

Lawrence knew that anyone who wasn’t good to Ruby would drive Aiden crazy.

So she kept praising Ruby while directly criticizing Aiden, testing whether he’d only react when someone was bad to Ruby or whether he was simply narrow-minded and vengeful.

For Aiden, as long as no one upset his precious daughter, everything else was negotiable. Even if someone criticized him right to his face, as long as the rebuke had merit, he’d listen attentively.

Of course, even if the criticism had no substance, he wouldn’t pursue it against those who insult him.

Thus, Lawrence’s words were just a drizzle to him, something he didn’t really care about at all.

Once Lawrence finished speaking, she observed Aiden carefully and discovered he indeed didn’t seem interested in anything she said against him.

Whether mocked or scolded directly, he remained calm and unperturbed, making it unclear if he even took it in.

Lawrence tried for one round, and true to form, Aiden was unaffected, showing complete indifference to her ”dislike” for him.

Like people from developed countries, indifferent to whether people from developing countries like them.

Because they possess enough confidence, only they have the prerogative not to like others, to look down on others.

As for whether others like them, they couldn’t care less.

After understanding this logic, Lawrence finally confirmed that Aiden would only explode when it came to matters concerning his daughter.

Pampering his daughter to such an extent, Lawrence could only conclude that the world of the wealthy is beyond her understanding.

Ruby, however, was dissatisfied with Lawrence’s comments.

She pouted, saying angrily, ”Miss Winters, if you dislike my dad, then there’s no need to like me. I’ll always stand by my dad’s side. If you’re in a hostile stance against my dad, sorry, I won’t acknowledge you as a friend.”

”My dad and mom are my eternal weakness, Miss Winters, speaking ill of my dad in front of me crosses the line.”
