Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 575: Chapter 308: Registering the Marriage (First Update)

Although Lawrence Winters was well-versed and prepared for the peculiarities of this father-daughter pair, she was momentarily stunned by Ruby Sheldon’s outrageous actions.

Kenneth Osborne barely perceptibly furrowed his brow, then pulled Lawrence Winters back and said to Aiden Sheldon with a faint smile, ”Mr. Sheldon, I’m afraid we’ve embarrassed ourselves. Our Nora is simple-minded and has been doted on by our family since childhood, so she’s not good with words. I hope you and your esteemed daughter are generous and won’t mind a thoughtless young girl.”

He then addressed Ruby Sheldon, who was on the other end of the phone and was staring in disbelief, ”Miss Sheldon, it’s admirable that you want to show filial piety to your parents, but there are many ways to be filial. It’s not filial if you go around making enemies for your parents by arousing resentment. No child who wishes for their parents to be safe and sound would express filial piety in such a manner.”

Ruby Sheldon hadn’t expected Kenneth Osborne to ”discipline” her, and her face turned red immediately. She said hastily, ”I didn’t! I didn’t cause resentment for my parents! I’m just telling it as it is! Whoever dislikes my parents, I dislike them too!”

”Well, if you insist on saying that, then I can only wish you happiness,” Kenneth Osborne replied indifferently. He hadn’t intended to teach someone else’s child.

Ruby Sheldon’s lack of understanding was not his concern, as long as she doesn’t touch his reverse scale.

Kenneth Osborne looked up at Aiden Sheldon, who had been silent all along, and said in a calm voice, ”Mr. Sheldon, you’re a father, and I know you’re famously devoted to your daughter. With your protection, your esteemed daughter surely won’t suffer. Our Nora might not have a father to protect her, but she has me. Both of them are at fault in this matter; could you be magnanimous and forgive our Nora?”

Aiden Sheldon’s pupils suddenly shrunk. He instinctively asked, ”...Miss Winters doesn’t have a father? What happened to her father?”

Lawrence Winters was very pleased that Kenneth Osborne was speaking up for her, as she shrank behind Kenneth Osborne, fiddling with his fingers.

When she heard Aiden Sheldon asking, she laughed nonchalantly, ”When I was very young, my mom divorced my dad. But it doesn’t matter. I have my uncle, my mom, and of course, my wonderful Kenneth.”

She even gave Kenneth Osborne a peck on the cheek right in front of Aiden Sheldon and Ruby Sheldon.

Kenneth Osborne pinched her peach-like face gently and said affectionately, ”You’re being naughty. Aren’t you afraid of being laughed at?”

”We’re about to go register for our marriage certificate soon. What’s there to laugh about?” Lawrence Winters made a funny face and poked her head out from behind Kenneth Osborne, coincidentally seeing Ruby Sheldon’s complex expression on the phone held by Aiden Sheldon.

”Miss Sheldon, alright, earlier I was at fault, I indeed shouldn’t have said I disliked your father in front of you. I take back those words.” Lawrence Winters waved her hand at Ruby Sheldon on the phone, adopting a ’forgive and forget’ demeanor.

She even smiled at Aiden Sheldon and said straightforwardly, ”Mr. Sheldon, thank you for being our witness and sending us to register. I shouldn’t have said I disliked you. I ought to thank you instead.”

Aiden Sheldon relaxed his frown slowly, curling his lips at her, saying, ”...It seems implicating your family last time had some impact. That’s the spirit, under someone’s roof, one must bow. In life, what goes smoothly always?”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

Is Aiden Sheldon out of his mind?

She was just being polite, but he took it seriously...

If it weren’t a good day for herself, Lawrence Winters really would have a few words to say to him.

But years of experience made her hold her tongue.

Earlier, she was testing Aiden Sheldon’s boundaries, but now that she understood, it’s unnecessary to keep poking a tiger’s nose with a stick.

She could only smile amicably, lower her head, and focus intently on playing with Kenneth Osborne’s hand.

Kenneth Osborne’s hands were clean and warm, slender, straight, and without visible joints, but strong, unmistakably a man’s hands.

Lawrence Winters’ own hands were pale and delicate, with dimples on the back, soft like they had no bones. Kenneth Osborne often enjoyed pinching her hands.

The two of them couldn’t help exchanging flirtatious glances in the car, their hands intertwined closely.

Aiden Sheldon glanced at them, changed the direction of the phone’s camera, and said to Ruby Sheldon on the other side, ”Betty, I’ll be back soon. You take a rest first.”

Ruby Sheldon quickly said, ”Dad, don’t hang up! I want to keep watching you and talking to you!”

”Good Betty, Dad has other matters to attend to. You’re not well, and if you don’t rest properly, your condition will worsen.” Aiden Sheldon smiled at Ruby Sheldon, but he still turned off the phone.

Ruby Sheldon stared at the vanished video on the other end of the phone, then after a while, put down the phone and closed her eyes slowly.
