Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 437: Chapter 238: Secret Engagement

As he spoke, he quickly glanced over at the old Daoist.

However, the old Daoist wasn’t as shocked as he was. He just opened his eyes and looked at Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne with a smiling face.

Nick Zeller felt a bit of a headache, a sour feeling in his heart, and a little nervousness, worried that something might be discovered, and their peaceful and quiet days would come to an end.

But his master seemed completely unconcerned, showing no intention of helping him out of the situation.

Lawrence Winters didn’t pay any attention to Nick Zeller. She just looked at her mother, Gabrielle Winters, and murmured, ”Mom, I just accepted Kenneth’s proposal...”

Gabrielle Winters’s eyes turned into crescent moons as she smiled, ”Engagement is great! So good to be engaged! Now I’m relieved. I was worried you young folks would just date and break up, wasting energy and time. Now you’re engaged, get married in half a year, and by this time next year, I can hold my grandchild!”

Lawrence Winters couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her mouth.

She had only accepted the proposal, not prepared for marriage yet, and her mom was already imagining holding a grandchild?

This imagination is too strong...

Lawrence Winters said with an awkward smile, ”Mom, it’s just an engagement, just an engagement... We’ll talk about the future later.”

Nick Zeller quickly agreed, ”Yes, yes, yes, just an engagement. Don’t even mention getting engaged, even if married, there’s divorce...”

”Uncle Zhang!”

”Nick!”

Kenneth Osborne and the old Daoist both stopped Nick Zeller in unison, successfully shutting him up.

The old Daoist frowned and said, ”I think they make a good match, so don’t interfere.”

Nick Zeller felt he was being wronged like Dou E, and said in frustration, ”Master, don’t blame me for revealing your secrets! The first time you saw Kenneth, you even blamed us for not being careful enough, letting Lawrence get so close to him!”

Old Daoist: ”!!!”

He uncurled his crossed legs, got off the sofa, picked up a slipper, walked over, and slapped Nick Zeller on the head with the shoe sole, glaring at him, ”Your master isn’t dead yet, and you dare to disrespect me in front of everyone! Are you trying to get yourself killed?”

Nick Zeller, fearing his master, quickly held his head in both hands and pleaded, ”Master, please spare me some dignity! Spare me some dignity! I’m already so old, give me some face in front of the younger ones!”

”You care about your dignity?! Didn’t I care about mine just now?!” The old Daoist reprimanded Nick Zeller mercilessly, ”Saying whatever you want, treating me like what?! When I calculated his Bazi, I hadn’t even seen him! When I did see him, didn’t I just let it slide?!”

Nick Zeller had nothing to say and could only keep pleading, admitting his mistake and apologizing.

Only then did the old Daoist’s anger subside. He grabbed the slipper and went back to the two-seater sofa opposite.

After sitting down, he waved to Kenneth Osborne and Lawrence Winters, ”You two, come over here.”

Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne walked over and stood before him.

The old Daoist looked up, glanced at Lawrence Winters, then at Kenneth Osborne, and said, ”You’re engaged. This is a big deal. I won’t say anything discouraging, just wish you both can stay together no matter what you face in the future.”

Saying this, he returned to his room, took out two Jade Tokens, one for each, and placed them in the hands of Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne.

”These are a pair of Mandarin Duck Jade Tokens, engraved with peach blossoms and your birth dates. Keep them on you at all times and only take them off after you’re married, you understand?”

Lawrence Winters looked at the Jade Token in surprise and said, ”Grandmaster, you had these prepared for a long time? Did you know Kenneth would propose?”

The old Daoist chuckled, ”...Actually, I’ve made several Jade Tokens. When one proposal succeeds, I’ll give the Jade Token with that person’s birth date...”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

She looked suspiciously at the old Daoist, ”...Who else did you make one for?”

”Who else? Of course, it’s your little Edward and that celebrity...” The old Daoist laughed proudly, ”I spent quite some effort getting their birth dates.”

Kenneth Osborne was quite surprised, ”You mean you got the birth dates of Lucas Harlow and Edward Foster? That’s impressive!”

”Yes, Lucas Harlow’s public birthday is actually fake, not his real birthday,” the old Daoist said proudly. ”The first time I saw him, I realized it. Later, I sent someone to investigate over at Blue Heavy Industries and finally got his exact birthday.”

”What about little Edward?” Lawrence Winters asked curiously, ”Is his birthday fake too?”

The old Daoist chuckled, ”How could it be? Lucas Harlow’s fate is one of great wealth and nobility, but his Bazi is a bit light, so it can’t be shown to others.”

”His venture into the entertainment industry is also to ’borrow fortune’ from the popularity there,” the old Daoist nodded as he explained.

Lawrence Winters was even more puzzled.

She mostly learned Feng Shui from Nick Zeller, only knowing a little about divination, physiognomy, and Bazi.

But Nick Zeller was different; he’d been dealing with these things for over twenty years. As soon as his master spoke, he understood, quickly asking, ”Why borrow fortune? Does he have a bad fate?”

”It’s actually similar to how ordinary families give their kids a ’humble’ name for an easier life.”

”The entertainment industry is a place where all sorts of energies are used, but the popularity generated by people acting is the freshest and strongest. Those with a light Bazi can soak in this environment for a few years, borrowing sufficient ’popularity’ to make up for their Bazi’s deficiencies. —This is a high-level person’s advice.”

The old Daoist sighed particularly, ”This method harms no one and won’t backfire, much better than those who take crooked paths to borrow luck.”

Lawrence Winters suddenly understood, ”I see! With Lucas’s family background, even if he loves acting, he wouldn’t stay in the entertainment industry for six or seven years and be so low-key!”
