Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 412: Chapter 221: Turning the Tide

Finally, it was said that Arthur Johnson was vying for the public service short film by the country’s largest charity foundation, and evidence of Arthur Johnson’s usual charity work was compiled, allowing major fans to write short articles praising Arthur Johnson for the management group.

Compared to the previous screenshot where a fan fabricated rumors to slander Lucas Harlow, this screenshot is truly fatal.

Because Xiao You is Arthur Johnson’s assistant, this is indeed an official position!

It not only confirms that the act of smearing Lucas Harlow was instructed by Arthur Johnson’s official team but also proves that Lucas Harlow stepped on Arthur Johnson to ascend in the company!

This screenshot caused passerby perceptions of both people to sharply decline upon its release.

It really took down two with one shot, slapped Lucas Harlow with the left hand, then knocked Arthur Johnson off his high horse with the backhand!

It’s really amazing!

Even Lawrence Winters, who had been watching the whole time, couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up to the hidden mastermind behind the scenes.

Immediately afterward, since Arthur Johnson had offended many rivals in the past, and Lucas Harlow’s rapid rise disrupted many others’ benefits.

In an instant, whether they held grudges against Arthur Johnson, Lucas Harlow, or vied for resources with them, all stepped in.

The individual fan groups of each celebrity weren’t as powerful as Arthur Johnson and Lucas Harlow’s fan groups, but many celebrity fan groups tacitly united to collectively smear them, leaving them defenseless.

Arthur Johnson’s fans only now realized the problem, why the more they fought against the slander, the more it grew?

Moreover, because their previous cyberbullying of Lucas Harlow was so severe, even passersby couldn’t stand it, causing some to join the ranks of those blacklisting Arthur Johnson now.

As for Lucas Harlow, it goes without saying. His rise was too fast, and he didn’t have much connection with his fan base, failing to cultivate a sense of belonging among fans, nor a fan group ready to act on command.

Most of his fans were scattered individuals. Faced with such an overwhelming smear campaign across the entire internet, the timid ones could be scared off and immediately leave the fandom.

Those with some courage remained at a loss for what to do.

Therefore, it frequently happened that some passersby would casually jump on the bandwagon to smear Lucas Harlow as well.

Throughout the entire day, the trending searches on Weibo were dominated by scandals about Arthur Johnson and Lucas Harlow.

Moreover, the man behind it didn’t even need to renew their fees for it anymore, as it turned into natural searches.

By five in the afternoon, Lawrence Winters was still sitting in the office, staring blankly at the trending searches on Weibo on his computer.

What exactly was the purpose of blackening Lucas Harlow first, then Arthur Johnson, and then both of them together?

Lawrence Winters kept thinking but could only find one common point: both were stars of NewHuman Entertainment Ltd.

Could it be said that the target was not these two celebrities but NewHuman Entertainment Ltd. itself?

Lawrence Winters felt a stir in his heart and was about to call Edward Foster when he heard someone knocking on the door.

She looked up and saw Edward Foster standing at the door with a serious expression on his face.

Lawrence Winters smiled and said, ”Little Edward, I was just about to call you, come in quickly, I have something to say to you.”

Edward Foster walked in, casually closed the door to Lawrence Winters’ office, and also said, ”I also have something to say, and I have to say it first.”

Lawrence Winters nodded, ”Alright, you go ahead.”

Edward Foster said earnestly, ”Arthur’s situation needs to be cleared up immediately, we can’t wait.”

Lawrence Winters was surprised, ”I was also going to discuss this matter, but I think we can wait a bit, by tomorrow we’ll know what their intentions are...”

Edward Foster shook his head, ”No, we can’t wait until tomorrow.”

”Why?” Lawrence Winters was puzzled, ”The situation has already escalated so much, if we don’t come forward during the peak, clarifying now wouldn’t have much effect, it might even be criticized as trying to clean up...”

”That’s not how it is...” Edward Foster pressed his lips, rubbing his brow with his hand, sitting in the position opposite Lawrence Winters, and said softly, ”Arthur entered the entertainment industry to act on the condition that he wouldn’t cause such scandalous incidents or damage the family’s reputation...”

”If he gets a bad reputation, he has to leave the entertainment industry and go back home.”

Lawrence Winters tugged at the corner of his mouth, ”Does that mean if Arthur doesn’t make it in the entertainment industry, he has to go back to inherit a billion-dollar fortune?”

”I don’t know about the billions, but he does have to go back to inherit the family wealth.” Edward Foster said in a low voice, ”Arthur’s family is abroad, much more powerful than mine.”

Lawrence Winters gasped again, ”What?! He can really inherit the family fortune? And more powerful than your family?! Damn! Then why is he in the entertainment industry?! Is he just playing with everyone?!”

”He really loves acting, so he fought for some time with his family to realize his dream while he was young and then go back to do what he doesn’t like.” Edward Foster revealed Lucas Harlow’s background in advance.

He was unwilling, but due to the sudden all-out blackening, he had to account for Lucas Harlow’s family and also come clean with Lawrence Winters.

Because Lawrence Winters was the spokesperson for the company’s public relations department, if she didn’t know the truth, she wouldn’t be able to handle the matter correctly.

Edward Foster, though extremely reluctant, still told the truth.

As he spoke, he watched Lawrence Winters’ expression, and found that she didn’t immediately change her attitude, instead showing a slight dislike for Lucas Harlow...

Edward Foster had a sudden thought, wondering if he had unintentionally done something right?

His mood suddenly improved, and he said with a cheerful smile, ”How about this, I’ll use the company’s official blog to tag his family business’s official blog, expressing gratitude for his family funding a new drama for Lucas Harlow?”

Lawrence Winters: ”!!!”

”What?! Isn’t the money for the new drama invested by the company?! It’s funded by Lucas Harlow himself?!” Lawrence Winters was completely dumbfounded.
