Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 429: Chapter 233: Willing Victims (Second Update)

Brooke Osborne gave a wry smile and said, ”I don’t need support; as long as they don’t make trouble for me or scold me, I’m content.”

Although she had hardened her heart towards men, she still held a trace of filial affection for her parents.

Kenneth Osborne chuckled, ”I’ll ask them.”

The siblings hung up the phone, both feeling a subtle discomfort.

It seemed as if they had suddenly grown distant.

But that was normal, as they hadn’t contacted each other for months.

Brooke Osborne felt that as long as they stayed in touch frequently in the future, this distance would gradually disappear.

Kenneth Osborne, however, felt that from now on he and his sister would drift further apart.

This was also normal; Brooke Osborne had found someone in her life, had her own child, and it was time for her to live her own life.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Osborne had Nora.

Thinking of Lawrence Winters brought a smile to his lips.

After sitting quietly for a while, he picked up his phone and started calling his parents.

”Kenneth, is that you?!” the person on the other end quickly answered, ”You haven’t called your mom in several weeks.”

”I’ve been quite busy lately,” Kenneth Osborne replied with a smile, ”But I have been sending you messages on WeChat every week.”

”Yes, yes, but it’s not as good as a phone or video call, is it? Are you free? Let’s have a video call.” His mother said enthusiastically.

Kenneth hesitated for a moment and said, ”It’s not convenient, I only have five minutes, I need to talk to you about something regarding my sister.”

”Who?! That ungrateful girl?! Don’t say you anything! I’ll just pretend I don’t have this daughter!” His mother suddenly became furious, ”Do you know what people here are saying about her?! I can’t even lift my head up right now!”

”Mom, it’s actually not my sister’s fault. You can’t blame everything on her. The one at fault is that bastard Gregory Quinn.” Kenneth Osborne’s voice grew cold, ”Sister is your biological daughter, do you really not care about her feelings?”

”How could she not care about my feelings? You tell me? What was she thinking? Quitting a good job like that, Gregory Quinn is a respectable person, more than enough for her. If she wasn’t so useless, how could Gregory Quinn have ended up with another woman?” His mother berated Brooke Osborne incessantly, as if it had become a habit.

Kenneth Osborne knew that over the years, Brooke Osborne lived such days in the eyes of their mother.

Brooke Osborne was used to it, and so was their mother.

One willing to hit, the other willing to take it, Kenneth Osborne used to persuade his mother not to act this way, but Brooke Osborne would even tell him not to speak to their mother like that, saying as the younger generation, it’s right for elders to scold a little.

So Kenneth Osborne stopped advising against it later on.

How could there be overnight grudges between a mother and daughter?

He always thought so, until now, when he realized their mother still treated Brooke the same, but Brooke Osborne was no longer the Brooke Osborne of the past.

Although during the call earlier, Brooke was still quite concerned, but judging from the fact she could seamlessly be with Cameron Spencer and have children, she had started asserting herself, no longer obediently following their parents’ orders.

This was a good thing, but for the mother-daughter relationship, Kenneth Osborne was uncertain now.

Forcing himself, he said in one breath, ”...Sister is in the Southern Region, she got married to... the head of the Spencer Group, and they have a son, just turned a month old.”

”What?! She actually got married to someone else and even had a child?! With who?! That ungrateful girl... with... huh? Did you just say who?” His mother’s voice suddenly grew eager, ”Did I hear wrong? The last name is Spencer?”

”Yes, you heard right, it’s the head of the Spencer Group, you even saw him on TV during the national tycoon conference during New Year’s.” Kenneth Osborne spoke lightly, dropping one worry.

Even though he knew his parents well, what if?

Now his mother’s response was just as he expected.

Kenneth Osborne let out a gentle sigh of relief.

His mother was completely dumbfounded on the other end.

After a good while, she excitedly said, ”Brooke has done so well! I knew she would be successful! What was Gregory Quinn, simply not worthy of our Brooke! ——Right, why didn’t she tell us about her wedding? We would definitely have attended!”

Only then did Kenneth Osborne say, ”They didn’t have a wedding, just got registered. Now the son is having a double full moon banquet, I wanted to ask if you and dad would like to go see her and your grandson.”

”Go! Absolutely going! I can assure you even your dad!” His mother agreed straight away.

Kenneth Osborne was completely relieved, chatted a bit more, then hung up the phone and started looking for a double full moon gift for Brooke Osborne’s son.

He looked around but had no clue, planning to wait for Lawrence Winters to return from work in the afternoon and discuss it with her.

In the evening, after Lawrence Winters came back and changed in her room, she routinely went to Kenneth Osborne’s room.

She had been on this routine these days, and it had become a habit.

Seeing Lawrence Winters come in, Kenneth Osborne happily beckoned her over.

”Nora, I have something to tell you.”

Lawrence Winters sat beside him, glanced up and down at him, seeing a faint exhaustion on his face, she said with some heartache, ”Did you not sleep well today? You look quite tired.”

”Can you really tell? Our Nora is really perceptive.” Kenneth Osborne touched his chin and said with a smile.

”Don’t you see what I do for a living? I’m a professional at reading faces!” Lawrence Winters laughed as she touched her nose, ”Though my professional scores aren’t that great.”

Kenneth thought her like this was adorable, patted her head and said, ”How are they not good? Quite good. Oh, the thing I wanted to tell you almost got forgotten because you interrupted.”

As Kenneth Osborne spoke, he brought up the topic of Brooke Osborne.

”...Never expected my sister would actually meet Cameron Spencer in the South,” Kenneth Osborne said, feeling a slight unease.

Lawrence Winters opened her eyes wide, ”What happened? Sister Brooke with... the head of Spencer Group? Not what I think, right?”

”What are you thinking?” Kenneth again was amused by Lawrence Winters, ”Tell me.”

”It’s... it’s... is she with Cameron Spencer?” Lawrence Winters curiously asked, ”If not, forget I said it.”

Kenneth Osborn nodded, ”You guessed right, they are indeed together, not just together, they’re married and have a child.”

Lawrence Winters’ mouth turned into a round O-shape.

It took her a while to recover and say, ”Really? They really got married and had a child?! ——From when Sister Brooke left River City until now, it’s been less than a year, right? So fast?”

”Judging from the timeframe, she must have met Cameron Spencer shortly after arriving in Z City,” Kenneth Osborne gave a wry smile, ”After all, from pregnancy to childbirth, it takes at least ten months. And now her child is born, already a month old.”

Lawrence Winters chuckled awkwardly and nodded, ”Sister Brooke has a nice face, she’s blessed. Gregory Quinn was just her calamity, it’s better now that she’s past it.”

Kenneth Osborne didn’t follow up on this, just said, ”Today Cameron Spencer called, said I’m going to be an uncle, and it shocked me.”

”Haha, it must have. If someone suddenly called me and said I’m going to be an aunt, I’d be stunned too.” Lawrence Winters tilted her head.

”Don’t your Celestial Path Sect advocate not worrying about anything, remaining calm and peaceful?” Kenneth Osborne made a joke.

”No, if someone said I’m going to be a mom, I wouldn’t be so surprised. Because I don’t have any siblings, what aunt would I be?!” Lawrence Winters clapped her hands and laughed.

Kenneth Osborne pulled at his mouth slightly and said, ”They invited me to the double full moon celebration, but I refused, saying sending a gift would be enough.”

”I see,” Lawrence Winters’ bright black eyes turned around and said, ”Right, my uncle has a baby full moon gift package, how about checking that out?”
