Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 432: Chapter 235: Who Else but Me

”Mr. Spencer, you’re here.” Brooke Osborne saw Cameron Spencer walking over, quickly put down the small Peach Wood Sword, and placed it next to the child.

Cameron Spencer bent down to pick up the small Peach Wood Sword, twirled it skillfully, and said, ”Nice sword! Where did you get it?”

”It was sent by my brother, along with some other things. It’s supposedly a Celestial Path Sect baby full moon gift set, and this small Peach Wood Sword is a bonus. I thought it was very cute,” Brooke Osborne said with a smile, gesturing, ”We can hang it on the wall next to the baby’s cradle later. They say it stops night cries and wards off all toxins.”

”Is it that amazing?” Cameron Spencer laughed, the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes deepening. He caressed the Peach Wood Sword, saying, ”This is top-quality peach wood, very rare indeed. It’s unusual to find peach wood like this to make a Peach Wood Sword, and to have it as a gift, tsk tsk, which company is so generous?”

Brooke Osborne quickly took the gift box that was sent from the Taobao shop. ”It’s from this Taobao store. My brother bought it and had it sent directly here.”

Cameron Spencer glanced at the Taobao store name ”Great Heavenly Master” on the gift box and was momentarily taken aback.

He averted his gaze, twitched the corner of his mouth, and said, ”Your brother is really lucky. To be honest with you, nothing in that gift box is as valuable as this Peach Wood Sword.”

Brooke Osborne widened her eyes in surprise, ”Really? Is this little sword that expensive?”

”You don’t understand...” Cameron Spencer exclaimed with a sigh, forming a sword gesture with his right hand’s index and middle fingers, gently brushing over the small Peach Wood Sword. ”This is made from the branch of a century-old peach tree, extremely rare.”

Brooke Osborne looked at him, half-understanding, and said, ”Oh,” and asked, ”Mr. Spencer, you know about peach trees too?”

”I used to grow them in the countryside,” Cameron Spencer said enthusiastically. ”Typically, peach trees live for about twenty to twenty-five years. But there’s a type of peach tree that, if planted in the right place, can live for a hundred years.”

”Back in our days, when we found such peach trees, we guarded them like treasures, wishing we could live right beside them,” Cameron Spencer said while examining the small Peach Wood Sword, his eyes landing on the knot, and exclaimed softly, ”This knot is peculiar, have you seen it before?”

Brooke Osborne looked at it and shook her head, saying, ”It’s alright, but I haven’t seen it.”

Cameron Spencer clicked his tongue twice, ”They’re all formed like sunflowers, quite impressive.”

With that, he returned the Peach Wood Sword to Brooke, saying, ”Just hang it on the wall next to Winter’s cradle.”

”Winter?” Brooke was a bit confused. ”Is that the name you gave the baby?”

”Yes, Winter Spencer, do you like it?” Cameron Spencer smiled as he bent down to look at the chubby boy sleeping in the cradle.

Brooke stood beside them for a while, smoothing her hair with a smile, saying, ”Your eldest daughter is Spring Spencer, the second daughter is Summer Spencer, and our baby is the fourth one. I thought you would name him Autumn Spencer.”

”No need for that. He’s my last child, Winter,” Cameron thought of his eldest son, Justus Spencer, and felt a bit sentimental.

”Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, that was my original naming concept for my children.”

”Unfortunately, the eldest is a son, and his mother didn’t like the name Spring Spencer then, so we changed it to Justus.”

”After that was Spring Spencer and Summer Spencer, and there was another child who should have been named Autumn Spencer, but they didn’t survive,” Cameron Spencer said, looking at Brooke, awkwardly continuing, ”It was on the second wife’s side, we lost one child.”

”Was it the second wife?” Brooke asked caringly, ”So it was the little sister or brother of the eldest daughter? You were going to name them Autumn Spencer?”

”Yes, but we lost them, the pregnancy halted at five months,” Cameron walked to the outer living room, lighting a cigar, ”Alright, you go take care of the child. I just came to have a look today, going to visit the second wife tonight.”

Even though Brooke had finished her confinement period, her body was still not fully recovered. Cameron was considerate and would just visit briefly.

Brooke was happy with that.

After Cameron left, she called Kenneth Osborne, ”Ken, thank you for the gift. It’s so novel and interesting, I really like it. And they are all good omens, perfect for the baby.”

Kenneth, who had just finished dinner, felt some itch on his leg wound and was doing rehab exercises in his room.

Wearing a Bluetooth headset, he replied, ”As long as you like it, it’s the thought from Nora and me.”

”I get it. You really managed to catch her,” Brooke laughed happily, ”I thought that girl would never realize.”

Even if she did, it might not have been Kenneth.

Brooke thought silently about it, but of course, didn’t say it out loud.

Kenneth also found it amusing, saying, ”Honestly, sis, I almost thought I’d never pull it off in this lifetime.”

He still felt a bit unrealistically happy now because he had waited too long, and yearned for it too much, that even after it happened, he was still not entirely sure.

”It’s good you two are together, that’s one less worry for your sister,” Brooke said with a smile, ”If it were another girl, I’d still be concerned whether she’s good enough for our Ken and if you’ll have a happy future together.”

”But with Lawrence, there’s no need to worry. She’s the girl you like, and we practically watched her grow up. Her character and looks are top-notch, except maybe a bit chubby.”

Kenneth burst into laughter, ”She’s not chubby anymore.” On a whim, he sent a recent photo of Lawrence Winters to Brooke.

Brooke was quite surprised upon seeing the photo, ”Is this Lawrence? Amazing, she looks absolutely stunning after slimming down!”

Moreover, she exuded an ethereal aura, far removed from the slightly chubby little moneymaker she used to know.

Kenneth felt a particular satisfaction when hearing others praise Lawrence.

However, he still responded modestly in front of others, saying, ”She’s alright, but be sure to compliment her more; it puts her in an excellent mood.”

Brooke detected his feigned humility and couldn’t stop smiling.

The siblings exchanged pleasantries for a while before Brooke mentioned the main topic, ”By the way, our baby has a name. Mr. Spencer named him Winter, Winter for the season, and the name means words. Mr. Spencer said Winter will be his last child.”

Kenneth Osborne didn’t reply, he quietly listened to his sister’s ramblings.

Brooke Osborne praised her son for a good while and finally said, ”Mr. Spencer also saw the gift and said you found a good shop. The Peach Wood Sword that store sent is said to be worth more than the full moon package you bought.”

Kenneth Osborne: ???

How is that possible?

Since when did Nick Zeller become so generous?

”Really? What did Mr. Spencer say? How does he know the Peach Wood Sword is worth more than those gifts?” Kenneth asked curiously.

The gift box cost him sixty-six thousand, from his savings.

”He said it was made from a branch of a hundred-year-old peach tree, this kind of peach tree is rare, so that’s why it’s expensive. You know, rarity is value.” Brooke said with a smile and nod.

”I see...” Kenneth thought for a while, planning to ask Lawrence Winters about it later.

The siblings chatted a bit more before hanging up.

After finishing his rehabilitation, Kenneth Osborne took the initiative to find Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence had just finished showering in her room, dried her hair, and was eating a small bowl of Fire Dragon Fruit.

Her mom had brought it to her. Every evening, she would eat some fruit, various kinds, whatever her mom provided.

Kenneth Osborne came over and sat next to her. Lawrence picked up a piece of Fire Dragon Fruit with a toothpick and placed it in Kenneth’s mouth with a smile, ”It’s really sweet, try it?”

Kenneth wasn’t very fond of Fire Dragon Fruit, but he nodded casually and said, ”Sweet.”

Then he said to Lawrence, ”Your uncle’s Peach Wood Sword, Cameron Spencer said it’s very valuable, worth more than your gift box, is that true?”

Lawrence was stunned upon hearing it, ”Is there such a thing? That’s impossible...”

How could a giveaway from an online store be valuable?

But a person like Cameron Spencer has seen plenty of precious things, he shouldn’t be mistaken, right?

So did Uncle grab the most expensive one when giving gifts, and not just one of those free supplements?

Thinking like this, Lawrence felt a pain so deep she couldn’t breathe.

She raised a hand to Kenneth, ”Stop, don’t talk about this for now, I don’t want to hear it right now.”

Seeing her like this, Kenneth knew she was distressed about money again, he smiled slightly and said, ”If it really was a mistake, I can compensate the difference.”

”No need, no need.” Lawrence laughed hard, ”You don’t have to compensate, I want Uncle to give up some of his profits from these years as compensation!”

”...Why compensate you?” Kenneth looked at her in shock, ”Isn’t this your uncle’s loss?”

”Yes, but it’s also my loss because I get a commission from that shop!” Lawrence Osborne stood up aggressively, ”I’m going to ask Uncle right now!”

She rushed out of her room, Kenneth didn’t follow but stayed in her room waiting.

Soon, the phone in the room started ringing.

Kenneth looked around and saw Lawrence’s phone quietly lying on the window sill.

He walked over and picked it up, noticing that the caller ID was ”Lucas.”

Kenneth answered calmly, ”Are you Mr. Harlow?”

Lucas Harlow paused for a moment, checked the phone number he was dialing, ”Is this Lawrence Winters’ phone? May I ask who you are?”

”I’m Kenneth Osborne, her boyfriend,” Kenneth said lightly, ”Does Mr. Harlow need something?”

”...Oh, it’s about the new film starting. I wanted to ask her if she wants to start filming after the new year or before.”

Kenneth nodded, ”Then I’ll tell her when she gets out of the shower.”

Lucas felt momentarily breathless, so he reluctantly said, ”Thank you.”

After holding back for a while, he couldn’t help but ask, ”It’s getting late, hasn’t Mr. Osborne gone back to his room?”

”I just came over to chat with Nora; I’ll leave once she’s done showering.” Kenneth replied leisurely, filled with unshakeable confidence and calmness.
