Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 96: Chapter 6: What is the Kingly Way?

Afraid of being spoiled by these girls with spring light in their eyes, Tian Xingjian quickly left this dangerous area, calling on everyone to continue training.

A small stir settled down. Fatty continued to teach the trainees how to easily disassemble and assemble firearms on repair tables, on the ground, and even on their thighs. From this moment, the entire Mechanical Repair Camp collectively idolized Tian Xingjian. Especially when some curious ones among them checked the public records of the BG-17 energy rifle, they became fervently worshipful of this unremarkable Fatty. Public records state it takes five disassemblies and seven assemblies, but Fatty did it with only two disassemblies and four assemblies. The trainees all felt that this Fatty was truly a master with untold martial arts hidden inside.

The morning training ended, and Tian Xingjian transformed from an instructor to a trainee. From today, he would receive guidance from Russell.

In Russell’s office, without lifting his head, Russell pointed to a large stack of books and said, ”These are basic theories, you have two days to be familiar with them!” Fatty’s head suddenly swelled with distress, and he miserably said, ”So many! These are professional books, not novels!”

Russell lifted his head and said, ”You think you can succeed without enduring hardship? Do you think becoming a qualified commander is that simple?”

Tian Xingjian was speechless. These words seemed like he had just said them to the trainees, and now he was quickly reaping his karma. Dejectedly, he picked up the books and prepared to leave. Russell said, ”Where are you going? Those books are for you to read in your spare time. Now, class is starting!”

Tian Xingjian felt like he was asking for trouble, offering himself to his enemy, especially being a student of someone he had previously offended.

Russell seemed to remember the time when he was bullied by this Fatty while down on his luck, and now he demanded from him with the harshest standards. Numerous battle examples and data had to be memorized within the specified time whenever Russell gave an order.

Though memorizing was painful, Fatty had to admit that Russell’s level of instruction was quite high, especially when it came to the explanation of battle examples which were extremely brilliant.

One battle example after another was uncovered to reveal their true nature under Russell’s analysis. Some aspects and tactics were things that Fatty wouldn’t even dare to think about. Many famous battle examples had been studied by countless people, and Tian Xingjian knew them almost by heart. However, listening to Russell’s different perspective made Fatty realize his own ignorance. Connections between various data, terrain selection, and deception tactics were all laid bare under Russell’s detailed analysis, with the reasons for success or failure and key points becoming clear and apparent.

Fatty was thoroughly convinced. If it weren’t for this, how could he be regarded as a great general? Just the ability to clear the fog of war was worth learning!

When it came to deductions, Russell intentionally set them aside for now. He didn’t want to influence Tian Xingjian’s deduction methods with his own thoughts. Even Fatty’s weakest areas of live command and troop deployment were not systematically taught but rather guided through various battle examples to provoke his own tactical thoughts.

Tian Xingjian gradually became familiar with Russell and genuinely felt admiration for this great general. Leaving aside everything else, just the fact that Russell could abandon the honors and riches of the Empire’s top military to unhesitantly join his own nation’s resistance struggle, made him at least a national hero.

In addition to teaching, Russell also discussed international affairs and secrets of the Gazalin Empire, which Fatty, being a very curious person, found inexplicably attractive.

According to Russell, the Mythical Army was indeed the most loyal guard of the Royal Family. Just as the outside world rumored, this Special Forces unit had been active in wars for hundreds of years, one of the few decisive forces of the Gazalin Empire, usually deployed in the most critical places. In terms of individual combat power, due to Gazalin’s economic and technological constraints, their Mechas and ordinary soldiers could only show off to countries like the Federation that didn’t value military power. They were at a disadvantage against the special forces of the superpowers. However, in terms of small unit coordination and officer operational capabilities above the battalion level, the Mythical Army could definitely rank within the top five among special forces worldwide.

Russell not only gave Tian Xingjian a set of materials on the tactical cooperation of Mythical Army soldiers but also provided a set of standards for Mecha operation training of the Mythical Army.

Regarding the international situation, Russell intentionally guided Tian Xingjian to analyze during their chats. In contemporary human society, apart from some peripheral small countries that still remained neutral, most countries had joined the Fei Alliance or the Western Alliance. These two major military alliances had been in opposition for over a hundred years, marking one of humanity’s darkest periods. Many central countries had long become uninhabitable due to conflicts. War was bound to break out eventually, foreboding a super war that would sweep across all nations. The Leray Federation would not be immune.

These conclusions made Tian Xingjian deeply worried. Fighting Gazalin was manageable, but if a cosmic war really broke out, the fate of the Federation would be uncertain. For the first time, he felt the pressure of survival.

Life gradually got back on track. With the war preparations on Miloke Star progressing, a new round of public support propaganda began on the news, especially when the military made a special feature on the mysterious platoon leader and the mysterious staff officer, raising public excitement to an unprecedented level. Fatty was once worried that he might be exposed. By that time, it wouldn’t only be the responsibilities given by Mr. Ann, even more burdens would be added to his back. Everyone would think it’s his duty as a hero, and he deserved to be crushed!

In his limited spare time, Fatty would run to Milan’s laboratory. He had modified the simulation cabin into a gravity simulation cabin, feeling the crisis, leading him to another round of self-torture.

In the gravity simulation cabin, Fatty almost pushed himself to the limit! While his hands were naturally faster and had more endurance than others, his potential seemed untapped, like hitting a bottleneck. No matter how he trained, he saw no improvement, barely maintaining a speed of forty actions per second, a speed he couldn’t sustain for more than a minute without cramping.

This made Fatty very anxious. Whether it was those Senior Officers of the Mythical Army, the top 500 experts from ”War Fire,” or the experts in Carl’s ”Mechanical Warrior Ranking,” none had less than forty actions per second.

With no other choice, Fatty had to find other ways to compensate for his lack of hand speed. After all, hand speed alone couldn’t guarantee victory on the battlefield. Only by flexibly utilizing various methods could he hope to defeat those seemingly invincible enemies.

Competing on hand speed was not the ultimate way!

Within days, SM01314 challenged several experts in a row. Due to this notorious guy’s high profile, each of his battles attracted millions of viewers. When this guy once again used the mechanical arm under his crotch to sneak attack, dismantling his opponent’s mechanical leg, the viewing room was in an uproar once again.

”Damn it, who the hell is SM01314? Why is it always this move?”

”So shameless, killing with his ’second brother.’ This bastard is literally a disgrace to humanity.”

The forum page on the front wall of the hall kept refreshing, with one report after another from players paying attention to SM01314.

”Another sight of the little brother’s hand”

”Genius or Devil? — Discussing SM01314’s Mecha modification skills”

”Beware of his ’second brother,’ it’s dangerous!”

”Looking at SM01314’s operational progress through several battles”

Fatty innocently smiled to himself, shamelessness is the ultimate way!
