Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 62: Chapter 22: Live in Peace but Think of Danger, Safety First

Tian Xingjian was busy to death, a steady stream of battle plans was sent into the 6th Research Room, and everyone, including intern Carl, was assigned a massive amount of calculation tasks. Those advisors who initially just watched the fun were now too busy to pick out mistakes; they even hoped that Fatty could spot the flaws in their plans. After all, this battle was too important. If Kato was lost, the Federation would completely lose its strategic initiative.

The meeting at the forward command had been going on for four hours without any sign of stopping. Frontline battle reports kept coming back one after another, and everyone in the battle plan department was giving their all. The Imperial Army’s offensive was too fierce. The frontline defenders were almost exhausted, yet the enemy showed no sign of stopping, with their attacks coming in waves.

Where did they get their troops?

Fatty stared at the computer data for the calculations while desperately thinking. The Empire’s offensive clearly wasn’t normal. According to the simulations and known intelligence, the Imperial Army’s gathered forces were not enough to sustain such a high-intensity offensive in the Jialuo Mountain Battlefield! As the attacking side, their losses were much greater than the defending Federation Army, who had the high ground advantage. Until now, this level of attack had not ceased for a moment. Where did they get their troops from? Why launch such an apparently unprofitable attack on the tough nut of Jialuo Mountain? And their commander was a renowned military strategist in human society, known for his calm mind and cunning, varied tactics!

For the first time, Fatty felt that his brain, which usually burst with countless inspirations when his life was threatened, was not enough. Overthinking made his head hurt badly.

Another frontline battle report arrived. The 16th Armored Division, originally stationed behind Katos Canyon, had also been pulled to the frontlines. This was one of the main reserves of the Jialuo Mountain front! It was unclear if the Special Reconnaissance Group had been pulled up as well. In such frontal battles, special soldiers did not hold much advantage over ordinary soldiers; it was a complete waste.

The Mythical Army appeared again. Since the start of the Empire’s main offensive, this monster’s presence was seen on several high points of Jialuo Mountain—this time at Hill D1. If the 16th Armored Division hadn’t reinforced quickly, a battalion of [Demon Tiger] forces would have almost taken the position.

The Empire now resembled a fierce boxer, continuously attacking the opponent with left jabs, while its hidden right hand, set to deliver the heaviest hook punch to knock the opponent down, was still unpredictable.

Even the Mythical Army was used for the left jabs; just how powerful would the right hook punch be?

Tian Xingjian calmly looked at the map repeatedly. He was not studying the battle situation but trying to find an escape route to save his own life.

Gallipalan was technically the rear area. If Kato was breached, given the Federation’s losses, there would basically be no surplus force to stop the enemy’s rapid advance. Within a week, Gallipalan would become another besieged city.

If it came to that, the only way to escape would be to rely on the Space Fleet to evacuate to the Central Leray Star Domain, which would effectively mean the complete failure of Miloke’s resistance war.

Where to find a space battleship? Fatty’s brain was spinning rapidly in his hurry to make plans for himself. Bernadotte might decide to resist to the end, which would mean the entire forward command couldn’t evacuate. If the commanding officers didn’t leave, where would the lower ranks go?

The most hopeful place for retreat was the Gallipalan Military Academy’s laboratory!

Damn! There’s a Vice Admiral’s daughter in that lab; surely they’ll arrange for a warship? The second most important person, Tian Xingjian, must not be left behind either, better get a ticket first!

Fatty’s survival principle was always to be prepared for danger in times of peace!

First find Milan. When the situation becomes irreparable, no matter what, I must run! Absolutely no sacrifices! I’m still a virgin after all! For extra security, why not XX Milan first, fully conquering her with my charming body! By then, even if I wanted to sacrifice myself, Milan wouldn’t want to be a widow, right?

The dirty-minded scoundrel ran straight to the lab while having these absurd thoughts.

Milan was in the lab, focused on writing something at her desk, not even noticing Fatty enter.

Recently, the [Logic] research project had made significant progress. The transformation for instantly changing physical defense was already completed. However, with Fatty’s current hand speed and control skills, he couldn’t fully master it yet. The technology required a hand speed of over forty actions per second. Without this speed, it was impossible to accurately judge the blade’s falling point and activate the transformation of the biological dual-state metal at that spot in time.

Gently walking to Milan’s side, Tian Xingjian looked at this quiet and focused woman, feeling a tingling sensation in his heart. He just wanted to stand there like this forever. He never took the turbulent world as a serious matter—it’s for either masochists or idiots.

Fatty’s greatest dream was to be a small landlord in ancient times, living a peaceful and pleasant life with a beautiful wife. Occasionally, he could gather a group of henchman retainers to bully commoners and flirt with beautiful women on the roadside. It was much more enjoyable than being any general or president.

From Fatty’s vantage point, Milan’s collar was somewhat large. When she leaned over the desk, the fair and tender scenery inside was fully exposed. Beads of sweat covered her smooth forehead, and her ears were slightly red, a reaction to her intense thinking. After such research sessions, Milan would usually sleep lazily for an entire day.

Fatty’s eyes focused inside Milan’s open collar. He didn’t expect her breasts to be so full. She wasn’t wearing a bra; the deep cleavage and two trembling pink little treasures were mesmerizing. Drooling, Fatty stared blankly. Whether it was the war situation or Milan raging, both were equally dangerous. However, this thrill in the midst of crisis excited Fatty. It wasn’t the first time this scoundrel had wicked thoughts at the brink of life and death. Each time he encountered danger, before or after, he felt particularly impulsive, likely due to adrenaline affecting even his sexual nerves.

In the tenth of a second before Milan looked up, Fatty reluctantly withdrew his lewd gaze from the scenic spot and greeted: ”Junior Sister, busy?”

Seeing Fatty’s stiff fake smile, Milan, who knew him too well, immediately reacted. Thinking of how she wasn’t wearing anything inside her clothes for coolness, and how this detestable guy always tried to sneak peeks down her collar, she wondered how long he had been standing there. Her face flushed, and glaring at him, she snapped: ”Dead man, what are you doing here?”
