Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 87: Chapter 47 How Could It Be Him?

That day, a lot happened in Gallipalan. The President personally welcomed Imperial Admiral Russell and appointed him as a Federation Admiral, Chief Advisor of the Supreme Military Command, and the joint honorary chief professor of the three main military academies of Leray.

Although these positions were idle, they still reflected enough respect for an enemy who had just defected. Moreover, the Command Department did not exclude Russell from participating in daily work; they even arranged an office for him at the frontline command post.

At the same time, the President signed and announced dozens of proposals already reviewed by the parliament aimed at rebuilding Miloke Planet. These included a series of preferential policies for local businesses in Miloke, banking support policies, national infrastructure investments, as well as government procurement plans, military procurement plans, and more.

Hundreds of fully mechanized infantry divisions, army armored divisions, and aviation marine corps armored divisions would gather on Miloke Planet, preparing for the counterattack on the Galileo Star System.

The First and Second Mixed Fleets would reorganize on the spot in Miloke, with each mixed fleet supplemented by two new fleet formations, forming a large mixed fleet with a blend of five fleets.

The Third Mixed Fleet was also ordered to station in the Newton Star System. This newly assembled fleet was entirely composed of new warships, products of the Federation’s mobilization efforts.

The Newton Star System, with its thirty-plus resource planets, would build over 1,300 massive shipyards to restore its status as the Federation’s space battleship construction base. By then, the new warships of the Federation Mixed Fleet would be built there.

***************

Tian Xingjian didn’t know how he got back to the academy dormitory. He was in a daze all day. The next day, when a knock on the door woke him from his sleep, he found that he still had tear stains on his face.

Groggily, he opened the door to find a confidential secretary from the frontline command. The young female secretary said expressionlessly, ”Lieutenant Tian, Admiral Bernadotte orders you to his office immediately.” Without waiting for a response from Fatty, she turned and left.

Fatty didn’t care and mechanically put on his pants, used to sleeping naked.

Pants... Damn!

No wonder the secretary’s face looked so unpleasant.

Getting dressed and habitually grabbing his medal, Tian Xingjian quickly made his way to Bernadotte’s office. Yuna opened the door for him.

Fatty thanked her as he squeezed into the office.

The large office was full of people. Besides Bernadotte and a few frequently seen generals, present were Federation President Hamilton, Admiral Mihailovich from the Supreme Command, and a group of major generals and vice admirals, whose ranks shone like stars.

Tian Xingjian couldn’t help but gasp, immediately saluting Admiral Bernadotte and saying, ”General, Federation Lieutenant Tian Xingjian reporting as ordered, please instruct.”

The office, full of laughter, suddenly fell silent. An admiral sitting with his back to the door turned around abruptly, staring at Tian Xingjian in disbelief, ”It’s him!?”

This admiral was Russell, and the one he asked, General Bernadotte, smiled and nodded, ”At ease, Lieutenant... Yes, General Russell, the person who saw through your plans twice was not us generals, but Advisor Tian from the Combat Department 6th Research Room.”

Russell felt as if his dream had shattered like a mirror.

There was no way to describe Russell’s disappointment!

He had always thought that the Federation had a wise general. This general, while not very experienced, had enough wisdom to be his partner. When he could finally return to lead his people at the Freedom Front, this general would be his ally. They would become friends, forming a dreaded duo feared by all enemies.

In chaotic times, one person’s strength is ultimately weak. When Russell realized that his cooperation with the Federation was problematic, he understood this truth, and the existence of that ideal Federation general was his greatest motivation to defect to the Federation.

No! There was no such wise person, no general.

The one who continuously saw through his plans was just a lieutenant, a lieutenant without any power. Moreover, this lieutenant was the Fatty who rescued him and single-handedly wiped out almost half of the pursuers.

This lieutenant seemed to have a deep-seated grudge against him, and Russell had not forgotten any of the hardships he had experienced.

Just as words couldn’t describe Russell’s disappointment, they couldn’t describe his shock either!

Who exactly was this lieutenant? He was not only a Special Soldier who could infiltrate enemy lines and rescue him from the Mythical Army but also an excellent military advisor capable of continuously seeing through his plans and almost single-handedly changing the entire Miloke battle situation!

But he’s just a lieutenant, only a lieutenant! So why is he just a lieutenant? Why?

Russell’s heart was in turmoil, with disappointment and shock intertwined, leaving him unable to calm down!

Equally shocked were Federation President Hamilton and Admiral Mihailovich of the Supreme Command.

They had long heard of this lieutenant’s name. He had led a squad of Special Reconnaissance Soldiers to rescue more than 200 Federation prisoners from behind enemy lines. The Federation had made a big show of this, leading to international condemnation of the Gazalin Empire. Some countries that the Federation had already worked with seized the opportunity to block trade routes with the Gazalin Empire. Even Gazalin’s staunch allies could only secretly aid this inhumane country.

For the first time, public support for the President and the military reached 80%!

He had also seen through Russell’s first battle plan. The ”Thunderbolt” plan, jointly formulated by the President’s office and the Supreme Command, had almost become the gravesite of the Newton Star System. If not for this lieutenant, the Federation would have already failed, and both the President and the military would become historical criminals!

Unexpectedly, he saw through Russell’s plans a second time, not only averting an imminent comprehensive defeat but also securing today’s situation. Today, everyone here could celebrate the comprehensive victory of the Newton Star System, thanks to the efforts of this lieutenant, in a way that was almost unbelievable!

History is full of coincidences. Bernadotte only coincidentally thought that this seemingly ordinary Mechanical Repair Soldier was an accidental hero who had randomly earned first-class merit. Sending him to the front line had actually saved the entire Federation.

Hamilton looked at Tian Xingjian, then at the dramatically expressive Russell, and suddenly wanted to laugh—wanted to laugh heartily and wildly!

Coincidence! It was so damn interesting!

Luck was on the Federation’s side!
