Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 78: Revised: Chapter 38 Low Ridge Jungle Operation (3)

Following the shabby mecha for over a dozen minutes, Stewart couldn’t believe his eyes. Damn it, am I the special soldier or is he the special soldier? Is he the staff officer or am I the staff officer? If this Fatty hadn’t trained, in his past life, he must have been a weasel that stole chickens for a long time!

The Sharp Blade Squad members trailing behind Stewart were even more flustered. They didn’t have time for anything else, desperately allocating all their speed to the mecha’s movements. The shabby mecha ahead made no sound while stealthily moving, its actions as fluid as water, even sneakier than a cat, moving swiftly and lightly. If they still lost track of it, the face of the Fierce Tiger Special Soldier would be utterly lost!

Who wouldn’t know how to disguise and stealth? For the Fierce Tiger Special Soldier, these basic subjects were more familiar than their own manhood. But who would have thought that this lecherous-looking Fatty could execute mecha stealth with such flair, moving like a willow swaying in the wind, damn, like a ghost, disappearing from sight if one was not careful. If he wasn’t one of us, if it weren’t for radar tracking, they would have lost him long ago. Just a moment ago, there was a faint noise ahead, and this guy waved for everyone to stop. In the blink of an eye, he vanished. The radar scanned for quite a while before finding his mecha standing behind a few trees, posing strangely, with camouflage matching the environment so well that it was invisible to the naked eye. They’ve seen sneaky, but not this sneaky! Who’s seen this kind of stealth and camouflage technique?

Stewart was completely silent. This Fatty was not only lecherous but also very professional. His gestures earlier were more seasoned than Stewart’s. Under his lead, the team moved steadily and quickly, with precise route selections, wasting no steps, as if this jungle was his home.

The march speed increased. With Logic’s powerful scan, several camouflaged command posts were eliminated by Fatty one by one. There were no sentries here, making him feel very strange.

Russell, where is this fox hiding? To find one person in such a large area, how is it easy? The holographic radar was as clean as a freshly washed ass, how to find him?

Suddenly, a small dot appeared on Logic’s radar. Fatty quickly raised his hand, issuing a command in the area communication: ”All assume defensive formation and gather up!”

As soon as the order was given, fierce explosions and dense energy cannon shots came from the front, the sounds erupting suddenly and intensely in the once-quiet jungle.

All the special soldiers immediately took advantageous positions. Several Antenna retreated under protection, while over a dozen Anger took the front line, forming a fan-shaped distribution.

Tian Xingjian’s shabby mecha leaped forward, flashing a few times before disappearing into the jungle.

Without a command, the Fierce Tiger Special Camp could only remain on alert. The artillery fire ahead grew denser, and explosions louder, yet the section of the jungle the shabby mecha traversed remained silent. No one knew what that sneak Fatty was up to. Less than a minute passed but felt longer than a year to the special soldiers.

At a loss, Fatty’s voice suddenly came over the communication channel: ”Target spotted, engaging with the Mythical Army. Everyone scatter in a skirmish line, half-encircle the two-kilometer zone ahead, a radius of 500 meters. Be ready to retreat at any time. First Company, stay here and set up a blocking position! Make sure to take the target out, if necessary, eliminate on the spot!”

With this command, Fatty immediately handed the command signal back to Stewart. The situation was clear. The competent battalion commander should know what to do.

Though the Fierce Tiger Special Soldiers had never been on a real battlefield, their usual combat training was among the best in the Federation Army. With a hand gesture from Stewart, the three platoon leaders knew what to do, leading their soldiers to their designated positions.

Two kilometers was almost nothing for mechas. Stewart quickly led the team to the battlefield. The trees in front were destroyed, forming a large clearing. A group of the Gazalin Empire’s military mechas was forming a defensive formation, desperately resisting. In the midst of them, they were tightly guarding a Du Fu’ai private mecha. From the serial numbers on these mechas, this was the guard company of the Gazalin Empire Army’s front-line command post.

The attackers were naturally the legendary Mythical Army — two companies of Beast-shaped Mecha Demon Tigers and a platoon of Vajra.

Stewart was somewhat excited. The Fierce Tiger Special Soldiers had longed to confront the Mythical Army for a long time but never had the chance. Now he could finally see how fierce this legendary beast was.

It was all close combat!

Six Three-headed Dog medium-sized mechas, two Fierce Beast II heavy mechas, dozens of Holy Armor 22 and dozens of spider-shaped Poison Insect formed a super dense firepower, yet they were being forced to retreat by the close combat of their opponents!

Those Demon Tigers and Vajra only fired a few shots when necessary. Through constant movements and evasion, they managed to approach the Guard Company step by step. The artillery hit them, and as soon as the energy defense shield showed signs of weakening, the mechas would evade the destructive blow through high-speed maneuvers. Their coordination was precise to an extreme, like a pack of hungry wolves. If one got injured, companions would cover its retreat to the outskirts, lick its wounds, and re-enter the fight.

What the hell kind of tactics is this?

Stewart felt a bit puzzled. At such a close range, with such dense firepower, these Mythical Mecha could still dodge calmly! Their energy seemed all spent on the defense shields. They mostly didn’t fire and would only deliver a lethal blow during high-speed movements. Any mecha they tagged had no outcome other than being gutted open!

The Guard Company had already lost over ten Holy Armor 22 and several Poison Insect, even a Three-headed Dog that didn’t retreat into formation in time.

As for the Mythical Army, only five Demon Tigers had been destroyed under the fierce attack of the heavy Fierce Beast II mecha.

If this continues, it won’t be long before this Guard Company is wiped out. They can’t wait. Seeing that the companies had reached their positions, Stewart signaled several Antenna to begin full-scale electronic attacks, aiming to destroy the few Element electronic mechas on both sides first, to seize the initiative in electronic warfare!

Having issued the order, Stewart suddenly felt something odd. Where had that sneaky Fatty who led the way gone? Posing as a tree again in the celestial deity style?

He looked around for a long time but couldn’t find that shabby mecha! Where did it go?
