Chapter 1999: Slight Concern

Tang Shaoyang followed the trail of the battle from the air. At the same time, he moved the dead bodies with his Master Elemental Manipulation. It looked like the ground was moving along with him, carrying the sacrifices for him.

He tried to communicate with his newest spirit, but Han Taiyang went silent the entire time. The reason he did not summon the spirit cultivator to help with the mission was that. Regardless of what he asked, the spirit ignored him.

”He needs more beating, huh? Let me return to the Spirit World!”

Han Taiyang pissed Avyn off by saying that she wanted to beat him again for ignoring Tang Shaoyang.

”Calm down, girls. Maybe he just needs some time to accept the new reality he is in. Just give him more time.”

Tang Shaoyang disagreed with beating Han Taiyang. The spirit cultivator’s pride was bruised already with the loss earlier. Beating him more would just make things worse. He believed Han Taiyang knew that he was not as invincible as he thought.

After a while, he gathered a bigger mountain of dead calamities. He summoned a new spirit with the sacrifice he had. The top of the corpse mountain lit up in black fire, and it spread down quickly, burning all the corpses almost instantly.

From the blazing black fire, a figure emerged. A three-meter-tall figure with a ripped bat-like wing on his back, leaving just the frame of the wing itself. The figure stepped out from the black fire, and the second summoned spirit was a calamity.

It had two small horns on its forehead, saw-like teeth as it smiled, pointy ears, dark skin, and pitch black eyes.

[You have summoned Archaic Spirit, The Undying Flame - Floga.]

As soon as the two girls found out it was an Archaic Spirit, they went into action right away. The battle ensued, followed by a bigger chaos that devastated the land even more.

”I wonder whether the spirit is unlucky, or if it’s me, the lucky one?”

The first spirit was a cultivator with a sun-related technique or maybe constitution. The second spirit was also a fire-related calamity. Their opponent was Avyn with an absolute elemental power, Ethereal Frost. The fight was no less exciting than the previous fight.

However, Avyn and Zara fought the calamity spirit with a different mindset this time. They fought to have fun instead of trying to tame the spirit. They did not go all out, but they kept pressuring the calamity spirit with their fatal ability.

The fight was over in fifteen minutes, four times faster compared to the fight against Han Taiyang. Avyn did not even use her transformation this time, and Zara did not reveal her majestic wings as well.

This time, the calamity was caught with half of his lower body frozen to the ground. Tang Shaoyang did the rest after establishing the contract.

[You have established a contract with Archaic Spirit, the Undying Flame - Floga.]

”The abandoned world is truly a treasure for you. You got two Archaic Spirits already, more will be summoned if we can gather all the bodies,” Zara came to his side as she spoke.

Tang Shaoyang was about to say something until he felt a disturbance inside his head. Not a disturbance to him, more like a trouble in the Spirit World.

[This person attacked me first. Can I kill him, Master] Floga asked in a playful tone.

Different from Han Taiyang. Floga accepted the contract easily and adapted. Most of the calamity spirits had that kind of personality. That was why the Undying Flame recognized Tang Shaoyang as his Master right away.

”What happens?”

[I also don’t know. I appear in this space after establishing a contract with you, and not long after, there is this crazy man. He says nothing and attacks me immediately. Can I kill him?]

There was a slight anticipation when Floga asked the last part. The calamity was eager for permission to kill Han Taiyang. Of course, the spirits could not kill each other. They could not die because they would be resurrected with the death penalty.

”Stop this nonsense right away, Han Taiyang! Stay and never leave your territory unless I give you permission to leave!”

Since it was a contract made after defeating the spirit, the contract held absolute authority over the spirit. The spirit could not resist the order when Tang Shaoyang used his authority.

He could feel the resistance from Han Taiyang, but he could not go against the order and was forced to return to his place. A spirit would get a plot of territory or land in the Spirit World when it made a contract with a new spirit. The Sun Sovereign returned to his place unwillingly.

[You should let me fight him, Master. I want to test out whose fire is stronger.]

Tang Shaoyang ended up summoning Floga and pointed toward three different directions where the other spirits were, ”If you want to fight, you can join the others. That direction is where your fellow calamity spirits are heading if you want to join them. You can pick these two directions if you want to mingle with not-calamity spirit.”

”I would like to see my new calamity friends.”

”Just remember not to burn the bodies because I need them for more summonings.”

As soon as Floga received his instruction, the Undying Flame darted toward where the calamity spirits were.

Tang Shaoyang was stuck with his boring chore, flying around to gather the dead bodies left behind by his spirits. Of course, he was on high alert, keeping a watch on the group that had lured the calamity into the city. That group was extremely cautious, and they had not shown up even once.

The lack of attempts on his life from them made him worried. It could be two things: First, they gave up and left this place, but that was unlikely. Second, they were preparing something bigger for him, which was quite worrying.

Even after his encounter with the Black Lotus Sect, Tang Shaoyang did not want to underestimate his enemy.

”I haven’t heard anything from the Skelly Family either...” He ordered them to catch the fled cultivator, but he had not heard any news from them. The skeletons were still alive, but they had not encountered the cultivators.

”They are pretty weak, and maybe they died before they could meet up with the Skelly.”

Avyn did not mean to mock the cultivators, but they were indeed pretty weak to be in this place.

”I don’t know what is in those elders’ heads to bring their weaklings with them here?”

Tang Shaoyang shrugged. What he wanted was information about this Murim Alliance. Xu Guanyu’s note did not mention anything about the Thousand Vows Pavilion having a hostile relationship with the Murim Alliance. However, the Murim Alliance was clearly eyeing the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s inheritances, or maybe just the few factions under the Murim Alliance itself.

This was the reason why he wanted to know more about the Murim Alliance and Sacred Realm. So he could be prepared for what would come for him in the Sacred Realm. He wanted to avoid a direct confrontation if the Thousand Vows Pavilion had a hostile relationship, or maybe find out more information about the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s enemies.

Grandmaster Xu Guanyu mentioned enemies, but the note did not specify who their enemies were.

”Let’s leave it for later... The future problem will be resolved by the future Tang Shaoyang...” Tang Shaoyang shrugged and continued on his bountiful chores.
