Chapter 1992: Expected and Unexpected Guests (1)

Tang Shaoyang watched his spirits go on a rampage, leaving a nasty trail behind. The trees fell, burned, and crushed, craters formed everywhere they stepped into. Once a beautiful region turned into something horrible. Of course, they crushed all the calamities that recently moved here, even the Rank 9 Calamity was no different in front of his spirits.

Doombringer might be the first one to make a move, but Karan was the spirit with the most kills. The red-skinned Orc decimated everything in his sight with no mercy. His laughter echoed in the air as he led the spirits to hunt, spreading out. The cleansing started.

In the blink of an eye, all the spirits were nowhere to be seen, leaving corpses of calamities.

Tang Shaoyang was not done as he summoned his Skeleton Army and the Skelly Family altogether.

”You summon us too late, My Lord.”

Kaiser, the Skelly Family’s head, spoke in displeasure for the first time. The Abyssal-Ruby Draconic Skeleton was not happy that he was late for the battle.

Tang Shaoyang let out a chuckle and pointed to the back of the city, ”You have your own portion, Kaiser. Lead your family and army in the opposite direction.”

It clicked in Kaiser’s mind as he pointed toward Skelly1, who had become Archduke Skeleton, ”You will lead the army as usual, Skelly1. I trust you to lead us to a victory this time!”

As he said that, the ruby-colored skeleton wing opened behind Kaiser’s back. Then his figure blurred as he went in the direction where his Master pointed. Keeper, the second skeleton Tang Shaoyang created, let out a cackling noise, finding it funny.

”You can use Rank 8 and below Calamity to strengthen your army, but you must gather Rank 9 and above for me!” That was Tang Shaoyang’s only instruction for Skelly1.

Skelly1 replied with a firm tone and immediately led the army. He did not want to lose against the spirits again. The Archduke Skeleton led the army to march around the mountain. Time was essential in a competition, and he did not waste his time lounging around.

Tang Shaoyang, Zara, Avyn, and Vandir were the only four individuals who stayed behind. Avyn and Zara always accompanied each other while letting the other spirits go on rampage, but it was unusual for Vandir to stay behind as well.

”That’s unusual for you to stay behind, Vandir? Don’t you want to collect some samples for your experiment?”

The skeleton spirit turned toward his Master, the black fire inside his socket flickered, ”Are you trying to have fun by yourself, Master? This is the place where I could fully test my new prototype.”

As soon as he said that, a portal formed five hundred meters above the ground. The portal was right above the floating island. It was a small portal, and then ten figures flew out from the portal.

Tang Shaoyang, Avyn, Zara, and Vandir sensed the portal right away as they turned toward it. Ten figures floated above the floating island, looking down arrogantly.

The ten figures were men; four of them looked old. They looked like they were in their sixties. Four of them looked like they were in their mid-forties, and the remaining two looked like they were in their mid-twenties.

All of them wore a similar white ancient robe that he had only seen in the movies, a similar robe to those Grandmasters he met in the Thousand Halls. Outfits made men; that was the right description for these people. The robe amplified their dignified demeanor around them.

Their eyes darted around, especially when they discovered the Thousand Halls were no longer on the floating island.

”It looks like someone inherited the Grandmaster Codex,” One of the old men spoke out.

”It means our detection formation is not wrong. We need to...” Another old man spoke, but paused midway as he sensed Tang Shaoyang and his spirit’s gaze.

”Those monsters might know something.”

The ten figures flew toward Tang Shaoyang’s direction. They did not come down to the ground as they remained twenty meters above the ground, still looking down at Tang Shaoyang.

The four old men seemed to refuse to talk with Tang Shaoyang directly, as one of them motioned to the middle-aged man behind them to speak on their behalf.

”Make it quick, Yuhan. We don’t have much time before the Demonic Faction sends their people here. We need to retrieve the codex as quickly as possible before they arrive.”

”Yes, Elder.”

A middle-aged man with a thin mustache bowed to the old men before coming forward, ”Confess! Do any of you inherit the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s Grandmaster Codex?”

Clementine and Arion were floating in the air, doing their daily patrol, ensuring there was no Rank 6 and above Calamity to get closer. Not because they did not believe in their subordinates, but they wanted them to get used to fighting the calamities in this world first, before slowly raising the difficulty.

The calamities in this world were certainly different, as this place was one of a few abandoned worlds that took a lot of Administrators’ lives. The Rank 3 Calamity in this world might be stronger compared to the Rank 3 in the world where they used to hold the Trial of God.

The two Executive Administrators were being careful and had been doing this for twenty days already. They were making progress, albeit slower than they predicted. They also had intercepted four Rank 9 Calamities in the last twenty days, an irregularity that was not supposed to happen close to the safest area.

”Do you think he got the class?” Clementine asked while watching a team of administrators fight a group of seven Rank 5 Calamity.

”If it’s someone else, I will say the chance is low, but if it’s him, the chance is fifty-fifty,” Arion knew who Clementine asked about, even though she did not mention the name.

”That means he might be dead already?” Clementine let out a chuckle.

”I don’t think so since we haven’t received any message or notifications,” Arion shook his head, ”But I am leaning toward him to succeed. He has been doing the impossible many times already. I am not surprised if he already got the class right now.”

”I hope so...” Clementine let out a yawn. She was bored because she had been babysitting the administrators for twenty days, ”When are we going to stop doing this? I think they are doing fine even without us. Let’s start the cleansing and make sure to kill all the Rank 9 and above.”

”Let’s wait ten more days before checking up on him. I am more worried about them than him. He should be fine, even again, whatever the thing that killed Otto.” Arion was confident in Tang Shaoyang’s strength.

Otto Alberda was the Executive Administrator who died in this world. The other two Executive Administrators, Douma and Navia, who tried to retrieve the same class, also returned empty-handed after suffering a big casualty. Yet the report about the battle was so little, even from the one who returned alive from this world, which was Clementine’s biggest concern.
