Chapter 1972: Grandmaster Xu’s Note

Tang Shaoyang was standing there, recalling everything for him to reach this point. It started from one hundred million credits, to the special mission to reach this place, then the trial where he had to endure all the fogies that talked condescendingly toward him, then the trial, and then here he was, at loss.

He anticipated the trial, thinking he would fight with one thousand Grandmasters, which he assumed were all God Ranks. That never happened, and he got the class. The class notification was underwhelming as well, no bonus stats and no skills.

”Let’s check if all those annoyances are worth it for this class...” He muttered in a low voice while figuring out how to open the codex, ”Open Grandmaster’s Codex?”

Since he had no skills, he assumed that all the necessary skills were contained within the codex. A screen opened when he said to open the Grandmaster’s Codex.

——————————

Tang Shaoyang expected four menus in the codex, which were the first four. The information he got from the Administrator was the Breathing Technique, Fist Technique, Sword Technique, and Spear Technique. However, there was more inside the codex, something he did not expect to get from the class.

The Alchemy Path reminded him of his former spirit, Yu the Ancient Alchemist. Yu was currently leading the Tang Empire Alchemist Association (TEAA), the person in charge of developing and upgrading all kinds of potions. He managed to transform the recipe into a potion, and TEAA had become so big that the other big factions were secretly buying potions from TEAA.

He was tempted to open the Alchemy Path to see if there was anything useful for Yu, but he held the urge. His instinct told him to open the tenth in the menu, the note from Grandmaster Xu Guanyu. He felt like the note might guide him to understand more about all these techniques and paths since he did not have a teacher for this kind of stuff.

Tang Shaoyang checked the note and tapped on it.

[Xu Guanyu Note]

I would like to apologize first because you have to endure my fellow grandmasters’ scorn and also their arrogance. However, I need time to add this note to the codex. I realize that you don’t have knowledge about cultivation, so I have to create the note, and you endure my obsolete friends. I apologize for that.

Why not? Because we don’t have time to explain everything inside the Thousand Halls because the reserve energy to maintain the Thousand Halls is depleting and low. If you don’t come in ten years, the Thousand Halls will disappear. I have a lot to say, but we don’t have that much time. Let’s get to the point.

We know you are new to Cultivation, and this note was meant to help you understand more about cultivation. This is not my personal opinion, but also the other grandmasters. You have learned the basics, the fundamentals of technique, instead of learning a technique instantly like those skills. This is why you might not hear a notification about learning our techniques, like those skills, you have to learn them.

The order for cultivation usually starts with Body Tempering, gathering and using internal energy to strengthen your body with the breathing technique. But your case is different because you are already so strong. Your body might be stronger than most of us because of the system, so let’s skip that part as well. However, you have to know this so you can tell your chosen people who will lead the Thousand Vows Pavilion. We figure out that people don’t know much about cultivation because of the system.

The next part is about choosing your techniques. You can’t just pick a technique with a domineering name or what you like. You need to pick a technique that is suitable for your internal energy. You have your own unique internal energy, so you can skip this part as well. But for our future disciples, you have to teach them the basic breathing technique and slowly advance to the advanced technique. You will know when you have completed the basics, and you will understand even without the notification from the System.

Still, the part about choosing techniques, the Thousand Vows Pavilion, doesn’t allow our disciples to learn advanced techniques, regardless of how strong they are. You have to learn the fundamentals, the basics, and slowly learn the advanced techniques before our disciple to create their own techniques. You can’t create your own technique if you don’t have the basics and don’t understand the fundamentals. This one core rule you must enforce when you rebuild our sect.

I recommend the same for you, but from what I know about your situation, you can start to learn the fundamentals of our core techniques after you solve your problem. You can learn our advanced technique, and based on what I learn about your internal energy.

I recommend that you learn the technique with the Demonic Technique, but your internal energy is kinda unique when you use your sword technique. I am not sure, but maybe you can learn any type of unique technique, but try our demonic-aligned technique or maybe our divine-aligned technique. But please honor your words and start rebuilding our sects before you go into the big war.

Next is about the path; you might not be interested in our three specialized paths, but I still need to leave some guidance for the future of our sect. For each path, you need... Oh, shet, it seems I forgot about telling you the most important technique that dictates your cultivation is your breathing technique. You need a certain type of breathing technique for a certain path, the same with the battle technique.

Let me make it simple for you. If you want to learn a battle technique that is related to fire, you have to learn the fire-related breathing technique. It is the same as the path. Based on your internal energy, you might not be suitable to take the Alchemy Path and the Blacksmith Path. You need a fire-related breathing technique, or else your progression to that path would be extremely slow. But you might be suitable to be a Formation Master if you are interested.

Oh, nice. I hope Grandmaster Peng could buy me more time to write... Ah, I am not supposed to write this... But don’t resent him and Grandmaster Liao that much; most of us just can’t express our gratitude that well. They are being grumpy because that’s how they are, and you know, it’s hard to change when you have become old fogies like us. They are grateful, and all they did in Thousand Halls is to test your characters... Anyway, let’s dive deeper...

————————————————————

The note was quite long for Tang Shaoyang, but he read it until the end. What he needed right now was guidance, and he had forgotten all grievances he had with the old fogies from the Thousand Halls as he read the note.

The note is not completed, but it covered the basics that he needed to know. Grandmaster Xu also shared the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s treasury that might still be intact. He told him in the note that most of their treasuries are most likely gone, robbed by the other sects. But Xu Guanyu told him the treasury might be safe.

Then Xu Guanyu started to tell him about building the sect, the structure that might be different from a normal faction. Then Xu Guanyu also tells him to rebuild the sect within his empire to be part of his empire. That was just a recommendation so he could watch the sect closely.

After talking about the sects, Xu Guanyu got into Tang Shaoyang’s cultivation journey. The Grandmaster recommended several advanced techniques that he needed to learn for the upcoming battle, if he did not have time to learn from the basics.

Then he also put a note on where he should start if he wanted to learn from the basics. Xu Guanyu showed that he also cared about Tang Shaoyang, to give guidance for the cultivation instead of focusing on rebuilding the sect.

——————————

I did tell you to fix your temper, right? Check The Essence of Tranquility Breathing. I know the name is not cool, but it will help you to control your temper, and certainly will help you be clear-headed in an intense battle, and also quite good against mental-type attacks. It’s a versatile breathing technique, and you don’t have to dedicate all your time to master it. You just need two to four hours a night to do one hundred cycles. I am not saying that your temper is bad, but sometimes, words work better than violence.

Lastly, if you still want to find out more about cultivation, visit the Sacred Realm. Just like the dragons who have their own realms, we cultivators also have our own secret realm. Go to Murim Alliance...

——————————

That was the last in the note. Grandmaster Xu could not finish the notes in time, and he had no way to tell what Grandmaster Xu tried to say.

”Murim Alliance...” He muttered in a low voice, trying to recall if someone had even mentioned the name. Unfortunately, he could not recall anything about the Murim Alliance. Of course, he was curious about cultivators and wanted to find out more about them, especially if he could learn something new and stronger.

”Let’s add Sacred Realm to my visit list...”
