Chapter 1995: Disappointment And Doubt

The remaining seven disciples exchanged glances, not knowing what to do. They lost their confidence after what happened to Yuhan. Yuhan was at the Intermediate 6th Stage Nascent Soul Realm, yet he was killed with such ease.

The six disciples gathered closer, having their swords and spears out. Taking their weapon out didn’t mean they were ready for a fight. They took their weapons out to defend themselves against the monster.

”We will wait for the Elders to return...” The Core Disciple at the Initial 7th Stage Nascent Soul Realm made the decision.

Xu Juanhong might be one stage above Yuhan, but the fact that Yuhan died without being able to fight back was enough to tell him that one stage higher would not change the outcome. If he switched positions with Yuhan, he would die in the same way. They were wrong for underestimating the monster from the outside realm.

”Disappointing. I thought you would be bolder since you acted haughty and confident before,” Tang Shaoyang expected seven of them would gank up on him. That would be easier for him to measure how they are compared to the God Realm.

If he were on the defensive, it would be easier, so he would not accidentally kill them. He could get a more accurate formation to establish the comparison of the cultivation rank to the System Rank.

”Since you are afraid to come to me, then I will come to you. Be ready!”

As he said that, Tang Shaoyang kicked the ground and flew toward the group of cultivators, carrying the battle-axe in his right hand.

”Put up the defensive formation, Yorui! Liwei!”

Two disciples threw eight golden papers that floated right below their feet and above their heads. Then a golden barrier formed around them. They set up the defensive barrier formation as soon as Tang Shaoyang’s figure blurred.

’It seems like they can’t see my normal movement.’

Tang Shaoyang guessed that their eyes might not be able to catch up with his speed. They set up the defensive barrier too early. Some people thought it did not matter, but it actually mattered. If they set up too early, he could be prepared for the defensive barrier and put more power into his attack to break through it.

If they set it up right when he attacked, he did not have time to put more power into his attack. They might have a chance to block his attack if that was what happened.

’Are they below Legend Rank? Maybe at the Primordial Rank?’

Demi-God Rank should be able to catch up with his speed, as did the Legend Rank. The fact that they were in panic and not able to see movement told him that they might be at the Primordial Rank or even lower.

He arrived above the barrier, raising his battle axe above his head, ”Let’s see if your barrier could block my axe!”

Tang Shaoyang swung the battle axe down and slammed it at the golden barrier. He expected resistance from the barrier, but he was surprised that it was like hitting a glass with steel. The golden barrier broke apart as the eight golden papers burned into crisp.

At the same time, the two disciples who set up the defensive barrier spurted out blood and went unconscious. Their bodies fell from the air, but the remaining five disciples were so panicked that they did not think of catching their fellow disciples.

Xu Juanhong thought the defensive formation would help them to buy time until one of the Elders returned. Even until now, Xu Juanhong believed that the Elder would kill the other monsters and return. However, the barrier was broken apart in one strike.

His eyes widened in shock as the battle axe swung down toward his head. He saw the axe blade coming at him, but his body could not move. His body could not catch up with his mind as the battle axe cut through his head down to his body.

Xu Juanhong’s body was split in two and blown to the sides as blood spurted out in the air. Screams resounded in the air. The remaining four disciples let out a terrified scream. Instead of fighting back, the four disciples turned their backs on Tang Shaoyang and fled.

Tang Shaoyang shook the blood on his battle axe with a single swing as he watched the four disciples run for their lives. He did not chase after them, just watching them flee. The moment he destroyed the barrier in one strike and split the Initial 7th Stage Nascent Soul Realm, he lost interest in continuing the fight.

He had reached the conclusion that the Nascent Soul Realm was Primordial Rank or below. They could not keep up with his speed, and they were too weak against him, even when he did not use skill, just brute force. He did not even use his Chaos Energy to empower his attack, just pure brute force.

”Maybe it’s because of my weapon...”

Tang Shaoyang also realized that his battle axe was a God Rank Weapon. That might be the reason he easily destroyed the barrier. He should pick one from the Divine Armory. It was below the God Rank Weapon, but it was still a decent weapon.

He was disappointed with the result, letting out a sigh as he slowly descended. His expectation was shattered by how weak these seven people were. The thought of Martial Arts might not be the right class that popped into his head.

Tang Shaoyang shook his head, throwing useless thoughts about cultivators. He landed next to the two unconscious disciples who had gone unconscious after he broke the barrier. The moment his feet touched the ground, two notifications rang, indicating that these cultivators had also died.

Then he found out that they fell with their heads first. Their necks snapped; one turned into a bloody mess.

”I should catch one of them...”

He lost interest in fighting the remaining four cultivators, but that didn’t mean they were useless. He could get information about the Sacred Realm and its power structure. What kind of status did the Black Lotus hold there and more? Grandmaster Xu Guanyu mentioned the Murim Alliance as well.

He did not catch them because he thought they would survive the fall. They were supposed to have a sturdy body for a Primordial Rank. A meter fall should not kill them, yet they died. This made Tang Shaoyang suspicious that they might be lower than the Primordial Rank.

Tang Shaoyang glanced toward where one of the cultivators fled. This one fled toward where his Skeleton Army marched. He ordered Keeper to keep a watch for this cultivator and bring one of them back alive to him.

With the fight done, he returned to Vandir’s side, protecting the skeleton’s frame, in case some Unique Rank Calamity snuck up on him and snatched the skeleton frame. Even though he doubted the calamity would be of interest to Vandir’s body. It was just bone with no meat.

”It should be over soon...”

He tried to check the notification logs, but there were just too many of them. His Spirits truly went on a rampage with so many kill notifications. He gave up checking the logs and thought of reciting the Essence of Tranquility Breathing.

”I am back!”

The first one to return was Vandir. The skeleton stood up and looked in the direction where Undead Tang Shaoyang appeared with a body in his hand. Undead Tang Shaoyang severed the Elder’s head as he carried the head and the body separately.

”Let me return to the Spirit World, Boss. I have a lot of data that I can use in a deeper experiment.”

Vandir sounded so excited as the Undead Tang Shaoyang dropped the dead body in front of Tang Shaoyang.

”Nope! You can continue your experiment only if we are done with the mission.”

Vandir was about to argue, but Avyn and Zara returned. Zara seemed to go overboard as she cut her enemy into five pieces. Avyn was doing it her way, freezing her enemy. The two women dropped their bodies next to Undead Tang Shaoyang’s loot.

”Ah, right. We have taken care of the unexpected guests. We still need to take care of our expected guests. Can’t disappoint them when they have been waiting for us for too long.”
