Chapter 1932: Maybe It is a Disaster For Them (3)

The host could not complete the message as he was too ashamed to continue, especially after he hyped their powerhouse too much before the duel. No one recognized the person coming out of the west entrance. He was not in the God Rank list, and only the host knew this person’s real rank. All the replacement was Demi-God Rank, and he could not bear to finish the message.

Even for him, it was too shameless. They hailed those God Ranks as heroes, yet they fled from the duel before they even fought. What made things even worse was that they initiated this duel. They challenged these newly recruited mercenaries and only to find out these mercenaries were more powerful than they were.

”Bring them to me!”

A voice echoed in the arena, and everyone turned toward the voice. It was Gianni who spoke, and the man was looking at the host.

The host met with Gianni’s cold gaze, and his body shuddered. It was no longer an expressionless visage, but a bone-chilling gaze filled with murderous intent. If he could not read Gianni’s emotions before, he could now. Gianni was furious that his challengers were running away.

”Bring them to me!”

The voice echoed once more, filled with authority and dignity that made the listener almost follow his order to look for the fleeing God Ranks.

The replacement, who was not even a God Rank, was standing silly. His legs were shaking, and his hands were trembling as he held the shield. It became even more obvious how scared this man was when Gianni spoke.

At this point, not just Gianni realized what happened, but everyone in the arena figured out what happened. Not just the God Ranks fled, but they picked a replacement as a sacrificial pawn for them. It was clear what they tried to do, trying to protect themselves from the humiliation of surrender.

The God Ranks could surrender, and Gianni could not do anything to them. Yet these people made an excuse by saying an emergency mission, and they sent a Demi-God Rank for sacrifice. It was just another level of shamelessness from the people they revered.

The audience got second-hand embarrassment from what those God Ranks did. Especially after what they did in the first duel when they booed the mercenary and cheered for Hector Willem. The audience snapped when a blasting sound echoed in the arena.

Gianni moved and created a booming sound as his figure blurred and reappeared in front of the replacement. The replacement’s legs wobbled, and he could not even hold for two seconds before his legs gave up.

The Demi-God Rank’s first thought was to surrender. He dropped his shield and sword when his legs gave up, supporting himself with his hand. He opened his mouth, and he met Gianni’s gaze. The murderous intent mixed with fury, the gaze that pierced him through his hands, almost gave up, like his legs. No words came out of his mouth.

”Where are they? Bring me to them!”

Badump! Badump! Badump!

The Demi-God Rank’s heart rate raced and got louder. He could hear his own heartbeat, which got faster and louder. He felt like his heart would explode anytime now.

Gianni changed his words now, he asked to bring him to the God Rank. However, there was no way the Demi-God Rank would listen to the request. He realized that he was sent to his death by his superior, a sacrificial pawn for those in authority.

”It’s enough!” The first one to interfere was the Chevalier Mercenary Guild Master, Justen.

Just like everyone else, he was surprised by the Sorcerer Monarchy’s level of shamelessness. Sending a Demi-God Rank for a God Rank’s duel as a replacement was over the line. He could understand how furious Gianni was because these people played him. They challenged him in a duel to regain their non-existent honor, then they fled when they found how strong Gianni was.

Justen was disgusted with the Sorcerer Monarchy’s actions, but he also understood why they did so. In fact, he was relieved that the people from the Sorcerer Monarchy knew when to step back. It was just that he did not like the way they did it.

Regardless, Justen had to stop Gianni from killing the poor Demi-God Rank who knew nothing. He tried to pull Gianni, but he was like pulling a city wall. Gianni did not budge in the slightest, and the seven spears turned toward him.

Justen immediately stepped back, having learned his lesson after watching how Hector Willem died. Dodge, he must dodge, never ever tried to block the spear. Whatever Gianni did with the spear, he had better not clash with the spear head-on.

”What now?” Justen muttered as he realized that he could not stop an angry Gianni. The knight clearly would not listen to him. If they used force, he did not know how many people they would lose. Especially when they were in the middle of the city like this.

A life and death battle between God Ranks was far scarier as they easily leveled up the city. He must handle the situation with caution, or else the city might disappear even with the barrier set up by the sorcerers.

Justen immediately looked for someone in the spectator seats, looking for Alves. Gianni was part of the Raven Mercenary Guild. Alves might have something that could make Gianni calm down. He found Alves, and their eyes met. He made an expression, telling Alves to take care of the situation.

’This is your people, and you should handle him!’ He made that kind of expression to Alves.

The Raven Mercenary Guild Master shook his head and shrugged, indicating he did not know how to handle the situation. He motioned toward the three Sorcerer Monarch’s successors, trying to tell Justen to let the Sorcerer Monarch handle the situation. There was nothing they could do unless they agreed to fight Gianni if he caused chaos and started attacking the others.

Gianni took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He turned toward where Young Lord Albin was. Their eyes met, and Gianni raised his voice, ”How are you going to regain the Forest Family’s honor, Young Lord Albin? Your people flee, afraid of me. How are you going to regain your honor, Young Lord Albin?”

Albin fumed when he heard that, but his Advisor was telling him to calm down. If not for his Advisor, he would snap and order his army to kill Gianni, who dared to openly humiliate him. But the moment he did, he would not be able to gain the support from the mercenaries and the military. The military people would never want to support it if that happened. Even when Benedict died, they would rather support the useless Volans instead of him. That would turn the secession into a civil war if he could not gain the support from the military.

Albin stood up and looked down at Gianni from his seat, ”My people are leaving for an emergency mission to ensure our victory against the Dominion, which tries to take our land. Defeating the Dominion is more important than just an honor of family, Gianni. I can understand that you mercenary flocks can’t see the bigger picture here, but I will overlook your offense this once for slandering the Forest Family.”

”That’s enough, Gianni.”

Gianni was about to say something in return, but he heard the familiar voice echo in the arena. He looked toward the voice, and his Master stood up.

”You have heard him, he admitted the Forest Family doesn’t have honor. Why would you bother to speak or even believe the person who comes from a family with no honor?” Tang Shaoyang’s words echoed in the arena.

That was not directed just to Albin, but to the whole family. He just declared that the Forest Family could not be trusted or honorable. That was enough to enrage the people of the Sorcerer Monarchy.

”Take back what you just said!” Benedict could no longer stay still when the name of the Forest Family was tarnished in front of many people like this: ”While Albin is part of the Forest Family, his action doesn’t represent the Forest Family. He is not the Forest Family’s family head!”

Tang Shaoyang smiled, ”But what he did reflects how the Forest Family raised their descendants, no? If he was taught to be honorable, then he would honor his words so did his people. And you let this happen under your watch, even though you are the host for this duel. That’s enough reflection on whether the Forest Family is honorable or not, no?”

Benedict was livid by the provocation as Tang Shaoyang implied that he was part of all of this. Unfortunately, he had to side with his detestable brother this time. This unknown man was about to tarnish the Forest Family’s name that had been preserved for hundreds of years.

Before Benedict could retort, he saw Gianni move. The mercenary jumped over the fence for the spectator instead of coming back through the exit. The man stood so close to the barrier. The attention returned to the mercenary again.

Everyone then witnessed something unbelievable as Gianni grabbed the barrier. That was right, the barrier looked like an elastic thing as the mercenary managed to grab the barrier in his palm. He pulled the barrier, then the barrier that had been maintained by twenty God Rank Sorcerers broke apart like glass.

The barrier dissolved into energy in the air as everyone’s jaw dropped after witnessing what Gianni did. Even the God Rank Sorcerers were shocked that their barrier broke apart like that.

Gianni strolled toward Tang Shaoyang as the other four knights also returned from the waiting room. ”I told you that we would not get the chance to fight,” Nikolas said to Ruben and Jovrick. Knowing his grandfather’s temper, he knew what would happen in the duel. He just did not expect the opponent would be this lame to flee instead of giving up in the duel.

”I don’t really plan to do anything big, but I changed my mind after this stupid duel. We will have our own way to pay them back,” Tang Shaoyang muttered.

Alves overheard what Tang Shaoyang said. He furrowed his brow as it reminded him of the talk during the court meeting. His eyes widened as a realization sank into his brain. He was about to ask Tang Shaoyang, but they had already disappeared.

The fox beastmen massaged the back of his head in frustration as things were about to become even more complicated. He understood what Tang Shaoyang tried to do. They tried to mess with Benedict and Albin. How? He did not know how six people would change the flow of the battle succession. But he found out the following morning.

Alves was still enjoying his favorite morning tea as the Sorcerer Monarch’s sixth son visited him. As the Raven Mercenary Guild Master, he barely has any connection with the eldest or the second son, let alone the sixth son. This was their sixth meeting, if he counted the court meeting and the duel in the arena.

The fox beastmen did not think that much until Volans expressed his intention for the visit. The sixth wanted to hire a team from his guild. That was right, the Raven Mercenary Guild, not the Sorcerer Mercenary Guild.

He was about to take his first sip of his favorite tea when he heard the team Volans wanted to hire. He looked up at Volans in the eyes as the cup stopped midair, blinking his eyes a few times. It was normal for a noble to hire a team from the mercenary guild, but he had a bad feeling when Volans mentioned the team, Team Reds.

Then he recalled what Tang Shaoyang said last night. Tang Shaoyang would use the sixth son to mess with Benedict and Albin. He was concerned at first, but then he was also curious how six people would change the flow of the succession battle.

After a short consideration, Alves nodded his head, ”I will call them to meet you. It’s their decision whether the team will take your contract or not. I can’t force them to take a contract.”
