Alchemy Master

Chapter 256, The Last Line of Defense

Seeing the mercenaries’ so frantic to leave, and thinking about how he had encountered Spirit Realm Demonic Beasts before even reaching deep into the Black Demon Mountain Range, Qin Yichen realised that these were all signs before the Ten Thousand Beast Tide appeared!

Soon after, Qin Yichen did not linger any longer, directly rising and darting toward Central Province City.

Though he did not know if this was really a Ten Thousand Beast Tide, why such an event existed, or why it would occur so early, regardless of anything, he needed to make preparations. He needed to protect those he cared about to the best of his ability.

Central Province City, Eight Millennial Families.

The main reason for having Eight Millennial Families was exactly the Ten Thousand Beast Tide. Each time they needed to resist the Beast Tide, the Northern Region’s Central Province would be led by the Eight Millennial Families to defend the region.

“What? Ten Thousand Beast Tide?” After hearing Qin Yichen’s words, Zhao Ritian’s expression became interesting. He smiled somewhat jokingly: “Brother Qin, it’s only been a few decades since the last Ten Thousand Beast Tide, it’s impossible.”

“Do you think I’m joking with you!?” Qin Yichen’s expression was solemn, without any hint of jest.

Seeing Qin Yichen’s expression, Zhao Ritian slowly withdrew the playful smile from his lips.

If anyone else had come to tell him there were signs of a Ten Thousand Beast Tide, he would certainly have sneered and driven them out. However, Qin Yichen was an exception. For some reason, he could not generate any doubts about Qin Yichen in his heart.

As the eldest Young Master of one of the Eight Millennial Families – the Zhao Family, Zhao Ritian was very clear about his responsibilities and duties. Resisting the Ten Thousand Beast Tide was the Zhao Family’s inescapable duty.

However, after thinking for a while, Zhao Ritian frowned. Finally sighing lightly, he said, “Brother Qin, it’s not that I don’t believe you, but even if I believe what you’ve just said, it’s useless. We can’t make my Father make such costly and grand preparations based on what we say, can we?”

Actually, signs of the Ten Thousand Beast Tide had been spreading widely through Central Province City lately. However, this had not caught the attention of the Eight Millennial Families. After all, having been peaceful for so many decades after one had occurred, they had habitually believed that the Ten Thousand Beast Tide would always have intervals of over a hundred years.

“Just tell the various Families about the Ten Thousand Beast Tide. Whether they believe it or not is up to them.” Finally, Qin Yichen had to compromise – if he and Zhao Ritian spoke up about it, even if the Eight Millennial Families did not believe their worlds, surely they would take some precautions, right?

However, Qin Yichen’s thinking was still a bit naive.

Although the various Families had to treat Qin Yichen with proper respect now, regarding the signs of the Ten Thousand Beast Tide, they almost all had the same attitude – ridicule behind the shadows!

How old were Qin Yichen and Zhao Ritian? The last Ten Thousand Beast Tide was over thirty years ago – at that time, these two had not even been born yet. So, how would these youngsters know anything about the Ten Thousand Beast Tide?

The An Family was even more extreme – not only did they ignore Zhao Ritian and Qin Yichen’s warning, they even sent people to stop mercenaries from spreading news about the Ten Thousand Beast Tide.

Although the An Family had suffered huge setbacks during this period, they still stood unshaken because they had made great contributions in resisting the last Ten Thousand Beast Tide.

The Eight Millennial Families, even in decline, could not easily be replaced by other First Tier Families. The only opportunity would be after the Ten Thousand Beast Tide ended!

If this Ten Thousand Beast Tide was real, then given the An Family’s current situation, they definitely would not be able to maintain their position as one of the Eight Millennial Families after the Beast Tide.

…

Regarding the Eight Millennial Families’ actions, Qin Yichen was very disappointed, but he had intention on blaming them. Right now, he could only quietly doing his own part.

During this time, the Alchemy Masters making Pills at the Soaring Joy Chamber Of Commerce worked day and night producing various Pills. Meanwhile, under Qin Yichen’s instructions, Ye Liangchen used his name to extensively recruit various powerful experts.

In less than half a month, after multiple rounds of screening, the Soaring Joy Chamber Of Commerce had assembled a guard force that left people dumbfounded.

Among them were four Spirit Realm experts! Over twenty experts at the first to third level of Peak Martial Grandmaster Realm. There were also over two hundred Martial Masters and Martial Grandmasters!

This was with Qin Yichen’s strict requirements – to prevent the Eight Millennial Families from planting spies, these were the only experts they could retain.

The experts recruited in half a month were already enough to sweep through the entire Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty. Even in a place of intersecting powers like Central Province City, they barely qualified as a First Tier Force. Even so, this was the benefit of great financial power and reputation.

However, Qin Yichen knew this little bit of strength was just a drop in the bucket before a Ten Thousand Beast Tide…

As time passed, more and more experts entering and leaving the Black Demon Mountain Range noticed something wrong. Stronger Demonic Beasts that were rarely seen normally had frequently begun appearing in the outer regions of the Black Demon Mountain Range.

At this point, the news deliberately suppressed by the An Family finally could no longer be contained and began to spread.

Finally, when news arrived in Central Province that a city of over 100,000 people on the northern side of the Black Demon Mountain Range had been attacked by Demonic Beasts and destroyed in less than a quarter hour with all its people dead, the Eight Millennial Families’ attitude finally changed.

The Ten Thousand Beast Tide was not just aimed at Central Province City – it was a huge disaster for the entire Thousand Mist Empire.

This disaster had continued in the Thousand Mist Empire for ages. Each time, they had to pay a huge price to resist it, and that was with early preparation.

Qin Yichen’s mood became extremely heavy.

Now, Central Province City, and the Thousand Mist Empire, had made no preparation at all! Very quickly, the first line of defense completely collapsed, and the Demonic Beast Army pressed straight toward the second line of defense.

At this point, Central Province City’s Eight Millennial Families and the Thousand Mist Empire finally reacted.

But while various Forces were still gathering troops, the second line of defense also fell.

The third line of defense was also their last line – after breaking this line, all of Central Province City would be completely defenseless before the Demonic Beast Army.

Everyone understood what consequences would follow the fall of the third line of defense.

Four thousand years ago, there was once a time when the third line of defense fell – nearly one-third of the entire Thousand Mist Empire was destroyed by Demonic Beasts, with countless dead and wounded. That time, the Demonic Beast Army concentrated on the Central Region.

Even now, the Central Region – originally the strongest of the Thousand Mist Empire’s five regions – had not fully recovered.

This time, Qin Yichen vaguely sensed that the Demonic Beast Army was actually concentrating in the Northern Region!

If the third line of defense fell, then the Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty, even the Central Province, would all be unable to escape the disaster.
