Yandere Stream

The page turned, and Eden felt the change before he saw it. There was no wind, no tremor beneath his feet, and no physical force acting upon him. Reality simply shifted. One moment his father stood before him while the woman wearing Luna’s face remained at his side, and the next both of them were gone. The childhood house vanished with them, leaving behind nothing but an endless white expanse stretching in every direction.

For the first time since this journey had begun, there were no doors, no books, no corridors, and no screens displaying cryptic messages from deeper layers of reality. There was only emptiness. The blankness seemed infinite, as though the world itself had been erased and only a clean page remained.

Eden lowered his gaze to his hands. They were still there.

That surprised him more than it should have. After everything he had experienced, after every rule that had broken and every certainty that had dissolved, he had begun to suspect that even his own existence was negotiable.

”Aria?” he called.

His voice echoed across the white void before fading into silence. No answer came.

”Luna?”

Again, nothing.

Closing his eyes, he focused on their faces. Luna appeared first in his memory. He remembered her smile, her eyes, and the way she always looked at him whenever he pretended everything was fine. He held onto those memories with desperate determination. Then came Aria. He remembered her laughter, the way she called him Dad, the warmth of her embrace, and the countless nights she had fallen asleep against him while he sat awake watching over her.

When he opened his eyes again, certainty settled inside him.

”They’re real,” he whispered. ”They’re real because I remember them.”

A soft sound interrupted the silence.

A page turning.

Every muscle in Eden’s body tensed. The enormous face appeared once more, not descending from above or emerging from darkness, but simply becoming visible within the white space. Two vast eyes opened beyond comprehension, stretching farther than his mind could properly process. There was nothing overtly monstrous about the creature. No grotesque features, no impossible anatomy. If anything, it looked disturbingly human.

That made it worse.

The being observed him with calm curiosity, the way someone might study a character written upon a page. Its gaze held patience and fascination, almost affection.

”You remember them,” it said.

”Yes,” Eden replied.

”Why?”

”Because they’re mine.”

Something shifted in the creature’s expression.

”Mine,” it repeated. ”That is an interesting word.”

Eden clenched his jaw. ”What do you want?”

The creature remained silent.

”You’ve followed me through every layer,” Eden continued. ”You rewrote my memories. You took Aria away from me. You turned Luna into something I barely recognize. So stop avoiding the question and tell me what you want.”

At last, the creature answered.

”I want to finish the story.”

”That’s all?”

”No.”

Its response came immediately.

”I want to finish it correctly.”

The pressure in the white space deepened. Images appeared around Eden like memories suspended beneath glass. He saw his childhood, Luna, Aria, the hospital, the white room, the First Reader, the Authors, and every world he had ever crossed. Every death. Every version of himself. Every impossible path floated around him while the creature watched.

”You were supposed to have one life,” it said.

”Then why didn’t I?”

”Because someone interfered.”

”Who?”

Another image formed. A young man sat alone at a desk, exhausted and broken. His fingers moved across a keyboard as he wrote relentlessly.

Eden stared.

It was him.

Not the version wandering through the layers.

The original.

”He refused to stop,” the creature said.

”He lost his family.”

”Yes.”

”He was grieving.”

”Yes.”

”He wanted them back.”

”Yes.”

”Then you should understand why he did it.”

The creature regarded him quietly.

”I do understand.”

”Then why are you trying to erase everything he created?”

”I am not erasing it.”

Eden froze.

”Then what are you doing?”

”I am returning it.”

”Returning what?”

”The story.”

Immediately, the images began to disappear. Luna vanished. Aria vanished. The hospital dissolved into nothingness.

”Stop.”

”Back to the first page.”

”Stop.”

”Before the memories.”

”Stop!”

”Before Luna.”

”STOP!”

The white space shook violently.

For the first time, the creature looked surprised.

Eden’s chest rose and fell rapidly as he wiped tears from his face.

”You don’t get to decide that.”

”You believe you can stop me?” the creature asked.

”I don’t know,” Eden admitted. ”But I’m going to try.”

The creature laughed softly.

”You finally understand.”

”Understand what?”

”Why I chose you.”

Its eyes softened.

”You were never interesting because you were powerful. You were never interesting because you were special. You were interesting because you kept choosing.”

Scenes flashed around him. He saw himself dying, waking, finding Luna, losing Luna, finding Aria, losing Aria. Again and again, the cycle repeated.

”You could have accepted happiness. You could have accepted your family. You could have accepted death. You could have accepted the story itself.”

The visions vanished.

”But you refused.”

Eden stared at the memories surrounding him.

He thought about every life he had lived and every version of himself that had desperately searched for another chance. He thought about Luna, Aria, his father, and the original Eden who had begun all of this.

Finally, he understood.

”I wasn’t trying to escape the story,” he said quietly.

The creature waited.

”I was trying to find a life where losing them didn’t hurt.”

”And did you?”

”No.”

”Why?”

”Because I spent all my time trying to change the ending instead of accepting that they had choices too.”

Silence followed.

Then Eden looked up.

”You don’t want to finish the story.”

The creature remained still.

”You want to control the ending.”

For the first time, genuine anger crossed its face.

”You confuse control with completion.”

”No. I don’t.”

The temperature of the white space seemed to drop.

”You know nothing about me.”

”Maybe. But I know what you’ve been doing.”

”What have I been doing?”

”You’ve been reading.”

The creature said nothing.

”You’ve been reading every version of me. Looking for the ending you like. Changing things whenever they disappoint you. Removing people when they stop serving the narrative.”

Eden met its gaze directly.

”You’re not a Reader.”

The creature froze.

”You’re an audience.”

The silence that followed felt endless.

”You don’t care about me,” Eden continued. ”You don’t care about Luna. You don’t care about Aria. You only care about what happens next.”

A smile slowly spread across the creature’s face.

”There it is.”

”You finally understand.”

Its voice echoed throughout the void.

”I want a story worth reading. I want suffering. Hope. Betrayal. Resurrection. Despair. Love. Choice.”

Thousands of scenes exploded into existence around them, showing every triumph and tragedy Eden had ever experienced.

”Most stories end when the character understands,” the creature said.

Its smile faded.

”But you keep going.”

The visions vanished.

The white space became empty once more.

”That,” the creature said, ”is why I don’t want you dead.”

Eden felt unease settle in his chest.

”I want you to choose.”

A single wooden door appeared behind him.

He recognized it instantly.

The door to his childhood home.

”Behind that door is your original life,” the creature said. ”You can go back. I’ll give you Luna. I’ll give you Aria. You’ll remember everything, and this time you won’t lose them.”

The door slowly opened.

Beyond it was a warm kitchen filled with sunlight. Luna stood beside the table. Aria sat laughing in a chair. His father was there as well.

Alive.

Together.

Perfect.

Exactly as he had always dreamed.

For one terrible moment, Eden wanted nothing more than to step through that doorway and end the struggle forever.

Then he noticed something.

Luna was crying.

Aria was crying.

His father stared at the floor.

None of them moved toward him.

None of them smiled.

None of them spoke.

Realization struck.

”This isn’t real.”

The scene flickered.

”You copied my memories.”

Luna’s face distorted for an instant.

”You don’t understand them.”

The image flickered again.

Aria looked directly at him.

”Dad,” she whispered. ”Don’t come in.”

The kitchen began collapsing.

”It’s not us.”

The illusion shattered.

The door slammed shut.

The creature stared at him in frustration.

”You were supposed to enter.”

”You made the same mistake everyone else did,” Eden replied.

”What mistake?”

”You thought I wanted them badly enough to stop asking whether they were real.”

His voice trembled.

”I don’t want copies. I want them.”

The creature remained silent.

”I want Luna as Luna. Aria as Aria. Not versions built from my memories.”

Something shifted behind its eyes.

”You can create their stories,” Eden said. ”You can create their memories. You can create a thousand versions of them.”

He stepped forward.

”But you can’t make them choose me.”

For the first time, the creature had no answer.

A voice suddenly echoed through the white space.

”He’s right.”

Eden turned.

Aria stood there.

Not the child.

Not an imitation.

The grown woman he remembered.

The daughter who had called him Dad.

She walked to his side and took his hand before looking up at the enormous face.

”You can write what someone does,” she said. ”But you can’t decide why they do it.”

The creature’s eyes narrowed.

”Dad,” Aria said softly, squeezing his fingers, ”that’s why you’re still here.”

Cracks spread across the white space.

The ground beneath them shattered.

Reality splintered into countless fragments.

Far below, Eden saw a room.

A desk.

A computer.

A man sitting before a blank document.

The cursor blinked.

Waiting.

Slowly, the man raised his head.

Eden recognized him immediately.

The original.

The man who had first written Luna’s name.

The man who had created Aria.

The man who had refused to let the story end.

The original Eden stared directly through the broken layers of reality.

Then he began to type.

I’M SORRY.

A second sentence appeared.

BUT I DIDN’T WRITE THE FIRST STORY.

Cold dread settled in Eden’s chest.

The cursor moved again.

I ONLY WROTE THE SECOND.

Aria’s grip tightened around his hand as understanding finally dawned upon him. After everything he had uncovered, after every layer he had crossed and every truth he had exposed, they still had not reached the beginning.

They had only reached the place where someone had convinced everyone else that the beginning had already been found.
