Yandere Stream

The door slammed shut behind Eden hard enough to rattle the walls. For several seconds, he stood frozen, his pulse hammering in his ears as the voice outside continued reading. It did not sound as though it came from a person standing somewhere in the house. Instead, the words seemed to rise from every surface around him, vibrating through the floor beneath his feet and echoing through the ceiling above. Each sentence carried an unsettling weight, as though reality itself recognized the voice as something more than sound—as if the world obeyed every word it spoke.

”Chapter one. Once upon a time, there was a boy named Eden...”

Slowly, Eden turned around and took in the room. It looked nothing like the place he had just left. There were no windows, no furniture, and no sign of any ordinary purpose. Every inch of the walls was hidden beneath pages. Thousands of them overlapped one another, pinned together in layers so dense that not a single section of bare wall remained visible. Some pages were yellowed and fragile with age. Others looked freshly written. There were handwritten notes, photographs, sketches, diagrams, and fragments of conversations. A few pages appeared to contain entire memories frozen in place.

Standing at the center of that impossible room was Luna.

At least, it looked like Luna.

For one brief moment, instinct nearly carried him toward her. Then he remembered the warning. Don’t believe him.

The woman smiled.

That single expression stopped him in his tracks.

Luna had smiled at him countless times. She smiled when he embarrassed himself, when he tried to hide his worries, and when he made jokes so terrible they somehow became funny again. Every smile had carried warmth, affection, and life. The smile before him carried none of those things. It looked correct on the surface, but something fundamental was missing. It was as though someone had memorized the shape of Luna’s smile without understanding why she smiled at all.

”Eden,” she said softly.

The voice was nearly perfect.

Nearly.

Eden took a careful step backward and forced himself to keep his distance.

”You’re not Luna.”

The smile faded slightly. ”How can you say that?”

”Because Luna wouldn’t look at me like that.”

Something flickered behind her dark eyes. For the first time, the imitation appeared irritated.

”You’ve become difficult.”

”I’ve always been difficult.”

”No.” She tilted her head. ”You were easier before.”

A knot formed in Eden’s stomach. ”Before what?”

”Before you started remembering.”

Outside the room, the voice continued reading.

”Eden was born on a rainy morning...”

Immediately, Eden felt reality shift.

His childhood was beginning again.

Not as a memory.

Not as a story.

As an event.

Somewhere beyond those walls, a newborn child had just taken his first breath.

Eden understood the implication instantly. The story was progressing whether he wanted it to or not. If the voice continued reading, his entire life would unfold again according to whatever version of events it chose to tell.

He looked back at the woman.

”You’re the First Reader.”

She neither confirmed nor denied it.

”That’s what Luna said.”

”Did she?”

”She also said you aren’t the Author.”

For the first time, genuine amusement touched the woman’s face. ”She was telling the truth.”

”Then what are you?”

The woman approached him with measured steps. Every movement was identical to Luna’s, which somehow made the imitation even more disturbing.

”I’m the one who found the first page.”

”That doesn’t answer the question.”

”It answers all of them.”

”No,” Eden replied sharply. ”It doesn’t.”

Frustration rose inside him. ”Everyone keeps doing this. Every answer leads to another layer, another mystery, another person telling me there’s something beyond what I already know. I’m tired of it.”

The woman studied him carefully.

”You think this is a game?”

”No.”

”Then why do you keep trying to win it?”

The question caught him off guard.

She reached toward one of the pages on the wall and peeled it free. Instantly, the paper came alive. A younger Eden appeared within it, standing in a kitchen while his father sat at the table nearby. The memory shifted and changed. Luna appeared. Then Aria. Then the hospital. Then the white room. Then the endless library of stories.

The page drifted back to the wall.

”Every layer believes it sits at the top because it cannot see beyond itself,” she said quietly.

”Then what makes you different?”

”Nothing.”

Eden blinked.

She smiled faintly. ”I never claimed to be above any of this.”

For a moment, neither spoke.

Finally, she touched her chest.

”I am a Reader. I read the first story. I read the stories that followed. And eventually, I found you.”

Then she touched his forehead.

”You were the first story that refused to remain a story.”

Memories stirred inside him. Strange moments from his life surfaced—dreams that felt more real than reality, places he somehow recognized despite never visiting them, faces he missed before he knew their names. For years, he had dismissed those experiences as coincidence or déjà vu.

Now he wasn’t so sure.

”At first,” the woman continued, ”the memories were small. Then they grew stronger. Contradictions appeared. Death stopped behaving the way it should. Eventually, you asked the same question every self-aware character asks.”

Eden already knew the answer.

”Who’s writing me?”

”Exactly.”

The voice outside continued.

”Eden grew up believing his father was the strongest man he knew...”

The room trembled.

Footsteps echoed from beyond the door.

Small, familiar footsteps.

His father’s.

Eden knew that sound instantly.

The woman noticed the recognition in his eyes.

”You can go outside.”

”What?”

”Go.”

She gestured toward the door.

”Your father is waiting.”

Eden remained where he was.

”You know what happens.”

”Yes.”

”He dies.”

”Yes.”

”I’ve already lived through it.”

”Have you?”

The question lingered between them.

”Or have you only remembered it?”

Before Eden could answer, she opened the door.

Beyond it stood his childhood home.

His father was waiting in the hallway.

A younger Eden sat on the floor nearby.

Everything looked exactly as it had decades ago.

Except for one impossible detail.

His father wasn’t looking at the child.

He was looking directly at adult Eden.

Their eyes met.

A smile appeared on his father’s face.

”You’re late.”

Emotion hit Eden so hard he could barely breathe.

”You’re not real.”

His father laughed softly. ”You’ve said that before.”

”You’re a memory.”

”Yes.”

”Then why can you see me?”

His father glanced toward the woman.

”Because she brought you here.”

Eden turned.

The woman was gone.

The door slammed shut behind him.

Now only he and his father remained.

After a long silence, his father sighed.

”You really made a mess of things.”

Despite everything, Eden almost smiled.

”Nice to see you too.”

His father chuckled, and for the first time in what felt like years, Eden heard genuine warmth instead of riddles.

Then his father’s expression darkened.

”You need to stop looking for the Author.”

”Why?”

”Because you already found him.”

Eden’s heartbeat quickened.

”Who?”

His father pointed directly at him.

”You.”

”No.”

”You’ve spent all this time searching for someone above you. Someone outside the story.”

His father stepped forward and pressed a finger against Eden’s chest.

”But the first story wasn’t written by a person standing somewhere beyond reality. It was written by the part of you that wanted to survive.”

”I didn’t create this.”

”You created the possibility.”

”I didn’t create Luna.”

”You imagined her.”

”I didn’t create Aria.”

”You imagined a daughter.”

Anger and confusion twisted together inside him.

”I didn’t create any of this.”

For a moment, his father simply watched him.

Then his expression softened.

”No,” he admitted quietly. ”You didn’t.”

Eden froze.

”That’s why you’ve spent so long searching for an Author who doesn’t exist.”

A chill swept through the room.

”Then who created the first story?”

For the first time, fear appeared in his father’s eyes.

”Something that doesn’t understand the difference between imagining and creating.”

Before Eden could ask what he meant, words suddenly appeared across the wall beside them.

THE FATHER KNOWS TOO MUCH.

His father closed his eyes.

”There isn’t much time.”

”What happens if the story ends?”

”You disappear.”

”And you?”

His father smiled sadly.

”I already did.”

Eden swallowed hard.

”What about Aria?”

”She still has a choice.”

”What choice?”

His father hesitated.

”Whether she remains your daughter... or becomes something else.”

The voice outside began reading faster.

”Eden met Luna.”

The room shook.

”Eden loved Luna.”

Cracks spread across the walls.

”Eden lost Luna.”

The floor trembled.

”Eden created Aria.”

”No,” Eden whispered.

His father’s face hardened.

”She’s rewriting the beginning.”

”Who?”

”The Reader.”

The voice continued relentlessly.

”Eden created Aria because he could not accept Luna’s death.”

”No.”

”Eden created stories because he could not accept his daughter’s death.”

The words struck like a physical blow.

Then new sentences appeared across every wall.

EDEN NEVER HAD A DAUGHTER.

ARIA WAS NEVER REAL.

LUNA WAS NEVER REAL.

Memories began slipping away.

Aria’s laughter.

Luna’s voice.

The warmth of their hands.

The countless moments that had defined his life.

One by one, they started fading.

Eden dropped to his knees.

”Stop.”

The voice continued.

”Eden lived alone.”

”No.”

”Eden had never been loved.”

”STOP!”

The room shook violently.

Eden looked upward and screamed with everything he had left.

”STOP WRITING ME!”

Instant silence answered him.

Then a voice spoke directly beside his ear.

”I wasn’t.”

Eden turned sharply.

The woman wearing Luna’s face stood there once more.

For the first time, she looked genuinely afraid.

”I wasn’t writing you.”

”Then who was?”

Slowly, she lifted her gaze.

Eden followed it.

At first he saw nothing.

Then reality itself seemed to peel back.

Beyond the walls, beyond the room, beyond the story, an enormous face pressed against the fabric of existence. It was so vast that his mind struggled to comprehend it. It watched them with patient curiosity, as though observing characters inside a book.

The woman’s voice trembled.

”The one who is reading both of us.”

The enormous face opened its eyes.

Its smile widened.

When it spoke, the voice was gentle.

”You finally noticed.”

Eden stared upward, unable to move.

The being’s smile grew even larger.

”Good.”

Then the page turned.
