Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 1003, Method of Obtaining Slots

As everyone took their seats, Situ Xiong sat in the main seat, with others seated around him, ensuring that everyone could hear his voice.

Once settled, Situ Xiong dispensed with the pleasantries and got straight to the point: “Right, let me be direct. Regarding the Flaming Hell Dungeon Instance, I assume everyone present has heard of it. When our Situ Family first attempted to Clear it, we were all full of confidence, but the result was catastrophic losses.”

At this, Situ Xiong let out a long sigh. “The difficulty of this Dungeon Instance is beyond imagination. To Clear it, you’d likely need an entire team of people who are akin to Divine Beings. Or more specifically, we need Sixth Profession Players to have any real chance of it remaining safe.”

The moment these words left his mouth, the venue erupted into chaos.

Everyone had heard that it was exceptionally difficult. But to say that it required an entire team of Sixth Profession Players to Clear it… was he not exaggerating?

Sixth Profession Players. They were basically Divine Beings.

Supreme Tier Ancient Noble Families did have Sixth Profession Players, but they were the foundation upon which a Supreme Tier Ancient Noble Family stood on. They were their very bedrock. To suggest deploying their Sixth Profession Players to clear this one Dungeon Instance is something even a Supreme Tier Ancient Noble Family would dare not do.

After all, if the Dungeon Instance was not Cleared, at worst, they would simply miss out on the Clear Rewards. But if their Sixth Profession Player died, that could mean falling from a Supreme Tier Ancient Noble Family to a First Tier Ancient Noble Family.

If it were merely a matter of the Ancient Noble Family’s Tier dropping, that would be one thing.

But the critical issue was: which Supreme Tier Ancient Noble Family had Map Resources that were not coveted by other Ancient Noble Families?

Without a Sixth Profession Player to maintain order, their Supreme Tier Ancient Noble Family would find it difficult to preserve what they currently have.

If the Situ Family required Sixth Profession Players to Clear this Dungeon Instance, then those present would definitely not agree to those terms.

Sensing everyone’s concern, Situ Xiong quickly clarified. “Everyone, there’s no need to worry. I’m not saying that every Family present needs to have a Sixth Profession Player to assist in this joint exploration. I only meant that a team of Sixth Profession Players would be able to Clear it safely. Our Situ Family will send out our Sixth Profession Player to participate. Beyond him, we will send in a few Fifth Profession Players. That should be good enough.”

Hearing this, everyone quieted down somewhat.

Although Fifth Profession Players were rare core combatants even within Supreme Tier Ancient Noble Families, they certainly did not lack Fifth Profession Players.

Sacrificing one or two would not damage the Family’s foundation, and it would allow them to gamble on sharing the Dungeon Instance Rewards with the Situ Family equally. It was a deal worth considering.

Seeing no further objections, Situ Xiong proceeded to outline the criteria for selecting allies in the venture.

Many people had come today, and the Situ Family could not possibly take everyone.

Because the Dungeon Instance had a Participant Limit of only ten people.

The Situ Family would occupy five slots.

Naturally, only five slots remained for the others.

Of course, when it came to distributing the Clear Reward afterwards, it would be divided according to the number of participants.

The Situ Family would receive half, while the other half would be equally distributed among the other five participants.

Currently, at least ten Ancient Noble Families have shown up today.

Selecting five from among them would not be easy. After all, everyone present was essentially an expert from a Supreme Tier Ancient Noble Family, all absolutely determined to secure a slot.

For this, Situ Xiong had already devised a selection method.

“The danger of the Flaming Hell Dungeon Instance lies in its harsh terrain. So, our Situ Family has expended considerable resources to create an artificial Dungeon Instance that closely resembles the environment inside. This Dungeon Instance operates on a point system. The longer one stays inside and the more Monsters they kill, the higher their score. In a moment, whoever wishes to obtain a slot may enter this Dungeon Instance to accumulate points. Our Situ Family will select the top five as our partners.”

Everyone nodded, indicating no objections.

At this moment, someone suddenly asked. “Mr. Situ, isn’t this method somewhat unfair to Players who are Support Specialised? Our Jiang Family has brought a duo today. We have one for Close Combat and one for Support. They work seamlessly together with complementary Profession Characteristics. Together, they can demonstrate the Combat Power that five people normally would. But if separated, due to the limitations of their Profession Characteristics, their individual performance might not seem particularly outstanding. If we’re scoring Solo Dungeon Instance Runs, won’t these two have no chance of obtaining a slot?”

Situ Xiong smiled and explained. “We’ve naturally considered this point as well. Our Dungeon Instance allows multiple people to enter. The maximum limit is five, of course. But, when calculating the final score, we divide the total points by the number of participants. In other words, you can enter with two people, but you’ll need to accumulate double the points to match someone who is entering Solo.”

After a pause, Situ Xiong added. “So, we don’t recommend entering with too many people. Because as time in the Dungeon Instance passes, the environment inside will become progressively harsher. More people means more individuals affected by the environment, making it increasingly difficult to accumulate points later on.”

“Overall, entering Solo is the most advantageous. Of course, given your Family’s special circumstances, we naturally permit you to enter with multiple participants. The main reason for this arrangement is to prevent certain powerful Families from simply bringing in as many of their members as possible. After all, when distributing the Clear Rewards afterward, it’s based on the number of participants. We hope to select the strongest from each Family, not just people there to claim Rewards.”

“Well, if anyone is confident enough that they can score the equivalent of two people’s points Solo, that alone demonstrates their exceptional strength. For such experts, even if they want to bring along a mediocre assistant, we’d be more than willing to accept them into the fold.”

“In short, points determine everything!”

Having said this, he waved his hand.

A Situ Family servant immediately understood and tossed out a crystal stone.

Instantly, the crystal expanded, transforming into a Transport Array for the artificial Dungeon Instance.

“Whoever wishes to try, you may proceed. But, each person only gets one attempt. After all, this Dungeon Instance’s construction cost is enormous. Our Situ Family simply cannot afford repeated runs. So, if there’s some accident later on that results in you receiving a less-than-ideal score, don’t come asking me for a second chance. Don’t put me in that kind of difficult position.”
