Chapter 790: Chapter 298: Pursuit (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_3

Lord Reine glanced at Viery, nodded, and immediately gave chase.

By then, several teams of Night Watchmen had spotted Asimov’s trail, swiftly nocked their arrows, and aimed, but the target was too fast, surrounded by a swirling stream of blue, quick as lightning.

The arrows of the Night Watchmen had not yet been shot when Asimov dodged into a nearby alley.

Guided by the Blood Feathered Horned Eagle in mid-air, Lord Reine created a gust of wind and chased directly after him.

Meanwhile, the disruption of the recently failed blocking spell, a significant commotion from the Second-level Witchcraft, had already awakened the highly alert city.

At that time, apart from the Blood Feathered Horned Eagle, two more dark spots appeared in the sky, quickly flying towards Asimov and Lord Reine’s direction.

It was the patrolling Mingster Griffin Knights.

Although it was night and the clouds were dense, visibility was very low.

But in the glow of the city’s street lamps and house lights, they could just make out two fast-moving figures on the ground, so they immediately controlled their griffins to dive down.

The two of them, one after the other, intended to capture both Asimov and Lord Reine at the same time.

But the next second, the gray shadow moving swiftly ahead quickly raised his hand, aimed at the diving Griffin Knight, and struck a Flame Strike right in his face.

The griffin immediately started bellowing loudly, flapping its wings to dodge the fire, nearly throwing off its rider.

Meanwhile, Lord Reine faced the diving Griffin Knight, dodging the attack with a swerve and calling out from afar, “Imperial Sword Bearer, Reine.”

Huh?

Lord Reine?

The eyes of the attacking Griffin Knight immediately widened.

“Fuck! I actually attacked Lord Reine.”

It turned out this Griffin Knight was Fishe, who had witnessed Lord Reine’s great battle with the ancient hero Mong in Meister.

He had also just been reassigned back to Mingster the day before.

Meanwhile, Asimov, who had startled the other Griffin Knight away, suddenly dodged into an alley.

He was seen quickly chanting and waving a short staff in his hand.

In that instant, two other lifelike figures emerged around him, exact replicas of his original form.

The next second, the three figures, including the original, immediately dashed off in three different directions.

Lord Reine’s eyes flashed with a spark of insight.

He had some experience with the witchcraft “Cloning Technique.”

Ever since that encounter with Galina’s Cloning Technique, Lord Reine had summarized relevant combat experience.

He immediately took the middle path without hesitation, commanding his Greyhound ‘Cookie’ to chase after the left shadow, while the Blood Feathered Horned Eagle pursued the right one.

However, the Griffin Knights in the sky were suddenly at a loss.

In the dim night, it was impossible to distinguish between the three identical figures; they could only randomly follow one, each hastily pursuing one.

The Night Watchmen and City Guard, the Empire’s elite troops on the ground, originally based their positioning on the Griffin Knights in mid-air, now saw the two Griffin Knights splitting up.

After a brief moment of commotion, they quickly divided their teams and each pursued the direction of one Griffin Knight.

Shortly afterward, Blood Feather, being the fastest, with a swoop, shattered the right figure like a burst bubble with its claws.

A few seconds later, from the left came a pitiful yelp from Cookie!

Cookie had gone forward to bite the figure but was met with a Flame Strike, igniting a high region on its back, and in a panic, it darted towards a roadside fountain to extinguish the fire.

This action naturally also revealed Asimov’s true location without a doubt.

Lord Reine immediately abandoned the central figure, turned direction, and with the Blood Feathered Horned Eagle guiding from above, he swiftly pursued.

Though Cookie was scorched, it possessed a natural ability: ‘high-speed regeneration.’

The injury was not severe for it.

After dashing out of the floral fountain, Cookie growled angrily and once again chased after Asimov.

Asimov, relieved to have shaken off his pursuers for a moment, was considering whether to head back to the administrative district to catch a flight back to the Imperial City in about ten minutes.

But the next second, he furrowed his brows again.

Asimov looked up at the Blood Feathered Horned Eagle in the sky, glanced back at Lord Reine and the Greyhound reappearing behind him, and cursed under his breath, “This persistent bastard!”

However, Asimov had no choice but to accelerate again!

Both parties were extremely fast and quickly moved from the administrative district of Mingster to the trading area, then rushed through the trading area into the civilian district.

Along the way, low greenery, potted plants, street-side tables, and chairs, shade covers, and so on, faced a whirlwind caused by their rapid movements, scattering everything around, leaving a mess in their wake.

At that moment, Asimov, seeing Lord Reine stubbornly on his heels, immediately turned again and dodged into another alley, swiftly beginning to chant a spell.

The next second, Asimov’s entire body disappeared bizarrely from that spot.

Two seconds later, Lord Reine arrived at the alley, cautiously on guard, looking around, his brow slightly furrowed.

“Invisibility Technique?”

He was certain that the other person had entered the alley and had not come out again.

And there were only two doors in this alley, none of which showed signs of being opened.
