Chapter 781: Chapter 296: Job Change and Intelligence (Two-in-One Chapter)_2

“However, I’m currently in the period where the effects of my breathing technique are improving, and this growth should continue for a while.”

In addition, I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but after my will seemed to have increased a bit, the influence of the Evil Flame Mark on me appeared to have lessened slightly.

“Could it be, after my will has increased, I can actively erode this Evil Flame Mark?”

“Or is it just that the influence of the Evil Flame Mark has decreased?”

Suddenly, Reine thought of something else.

“It seems there has been no movement from Yakesen Auction House so far.”

“Could it be, some complication has arisen?”

Thinking this, Reine frowned slightly, after all, two days had already passed.

If the other party were sincere, it shouldn’t be in this state.

“It seems I need to find someone to make some inquiries.”

…

Half an hour later, Neoro arrived in Reine’s room.

“Captain, did you call for me?”

“Yes, Neoro, do you know anyone at the Mingster branch of Yakesen Auction House?” Reine put down the mithril shoulder armor he was working on, gesturing for Neoro to take a seat.

“Oh? Captain, are you looking to buy something, or attend an internal auction?” Neoro asked with a smile.

“Neither, I want to find out about their movements.” Reine shook his head.

“Hmm? Movements, are you…” Neoro’s expression became serious.

“There was a misunderstanding before, but a man named Drac, who seems to have come from the Imperial City, represented the Marquis Orenz family from there and had a discussion with me…”

After thinking it over, Reine briefed Neoro on the situation.

“Now, two days have passed, but there’s been absolutely no movement from their side, and I have an uneasy feeling about it.”

“Captain, I understand what you mean, this shouldn’t be difficult to handle.”

“I’ll have someone contact the internal staff of the auction house; if there’s any unusual activity, it should be detectable.” Neoro quickly agreed.

However, although Neoro’s expression was calm, his heart was experiencing waves of turmoil.

His captain’s strength was indeed formidable, and he possessed exceptional talent.

But the power of Yakesen Auction House was among the top in the entire empire.

Could it be, the stronger one is, the more trouble they attract?

Even though it seems that the Orenz Marquis family is just a shareholder in Yakesen Auction House, for any family beneath the marquis level, that’s still a colossal body.

Yet, oddly enough, Neoro always felt that his captain could handle them.

Perhaps it was Reine’s calm demeanor?

Or maybe it was the impression Reine’s strength had left on him.

Previously, he had great faith in Reine’s ability and prospects for the future, which was why, despite being a descendant of a marquis, he chose to join Reine’s team.

…

To Reine’s surprise, Neoro, the ‘local snake’, proved to be very efficient in his work.

Merely half a day later, he had gathered the required information and returned to him.

“Captain, indeed, your feelings were correct; it seems they do not intend to transfer the shares peacefully. According to their internal personnel, three unusual combatants arrived from the Imperial City yesterday evening.”

“According to the staff descriptions, their presence is impressive; they inspire terror at a glance.” Neoro said solemnly.

Neoro’s words made Reine narrow his eyes.

“Right, I had someone sketch a quick description of their appearances; they all have distinctive features, one is a charming woman with a scorpion tattoo on her forehead, one is a burly man carrying a huge shield, and the leader is a sinister middle-aged man holding a short staff.”

As Neoro spoke, he handed Reine three sketches.

“Thank you, I appreciate this.” Reine nodded, taking the sketches and began studying them immediately.

“This is all we’ve uncovered so far.”

“However, since these three have distinct appearances and we know they came from the Headquarters of Imperial City Axon Auction House, it should be relatively easy to investigate their background.”

“Considering they came from the Imperial City, the quickest way might still be to use the internal information system of Sword Bearers to pull intelligence from there. These three individuals should be quite powerful, and it’s likely they’re recorded at the headquarters.”

Neoro suggested.

“I’m not familiar with the officials of the intelligence department here in the branch; I’ll find someone else to inquire.”

“Lord Reine, don’t you know, as a golden-class Sword Bearer captain, you can access some classified information through the internal Sword Bearers’ information system, and being a diamond star, you naturally have even less to worry about.”

Neoro seemed slightly surprised, realizing that his captain appeared to be one of those devoted entirely to enhancing his strength, hardly aware of the privileges of a diamond star.

If it were him, he would have known everything clearly before even being promoted.

But then… that’s probably typical of top-ranking warriors.

When Reine heard Neoro’s words, he was slightly taken aback.

“That would indeed be convenient.” he thought to himself.

“Lord Reine, do you need me to mention this matter to Evelyn and the others?”

“No need for now, just wait for my news.” Reine shook his head, saying.

…

After Neoro left, Reine stood up and looked out from the third-floor window over the training ground.

At that moment, a vast expanse of thick clouds drifted across the distant horizon, seemingly foretelling that Mingster was about to experience a sudden storm soon.

“From the looks of it, they’re surely planning to make a move.”

“A two-second casting time is ultimately too slow, basically still impractical for real combat.”
