Chapter 767: Chapter 292: Defensive Power Test (Two-In-One Mega Chapter)_4

“If Lord Reine is willing to take on the task for these two fellows, Captain Angus, I am willing to become a follower of Lord Reine!” Viery stated solemnly.

He and Chris were as close as brothers, and to a great extent, Chris’s death was also to save him!

Therefore, if there was a chance for revenge, he was not willing to wait a moment.

Upon hearing Viery’s words, a silence fell over Angus.

He had never thought that Viery would be willing to pay such a price, knowing that with Viery’s outstanding knightly talent, even the empire’s marquis would likely not refuse him if he were to become a follower.

—————–

Mingster, within Rein Mansion.

“Hmm? Lord Rein has returned?” Jenny had just gotten home when she heard Bo He happily discussing the news and immediately showed a look of pleasant surprise.

She turned to her mother, Jennifer, and said, “Mother, the problem you encountered this time can be perfectly resolved by Lord Rein.”

“Hmm.” The beautiful woman, who had been showing a hint of worry, also brightened up upon hearing that Rein had returned.

Due to the unstable situation in Meister, almost all sea trade routes from the Eagle Federation to Fishing Port Town were cut off, forcing Jennifer, as the head of the trading guild, to develop new commercial channels.

The problem she was now facing was not one on the business level.

Although she had taken the first step through Rein’s introduction, as her business grew, she recently came in contact with several larger guilds.

The communication with these guild presidents was not going well; all of them either openly or subtly conveyed the message that they were willing to cooperate?

Yes.

But they needed the beautiful madam to engage in deeper exchanges with them before they could work together properly.

Of course, they had also heard that this beautiful woman, though merely the wife of a minor baroness from Meister, seemed to have the support of an empire’s Sword Bearer behind her.

But unlike other county towns, Mingster was the provincial capital, home to the Sword Holder Mingster Branch.

Sword Bearers were not uncommon, each with their own influential backing, so they were not overly fearful of Sword Bearers.

Of course, they wouldn’t use force.

They preferred to use a combination of threats and inducements.

So, despite the beautiful madam’s efforts over this period, there had only been some minor progress, but to make any substantial step forward was exceedingly difficult.

After all, the business competition in Mingster was fierce.

Profitable industries had long been dominated by established players and powers.

If you wanted to join in and get a share, it was akin to robbing food from the mouth of a tiger – without significant strength, success was almost impossible.

At this moment, Jenny seemed to remember something and playfully said, “Mother, it seems that Agatha and I should really go out and have some fun tonight. What time do you think we should come back?”

After saying this, Jenny winked.

The beautiful woman instantly understood her daughter’s joke.

Blushing slightly, with apples of her cheeks now red, Jennifer gently tapped Jenny, chastising her with a shy smile, “You’re too much for teasing your own mother with such jokes!”

…

It wasn’t long before Jenny found Agatha and said, “Agatha, how about I accompany you for a walk this evening?”

“Eh? Jenny, isn’t Lord Rein back today? How come you’re free?”

“Lord Rein will probably be busy with a multitude of things now that he’s just returned. By the way, didn’t you say the other day that a viscount’s eldest son is pursuing you?”

“Would you like me to keep tabs on him for you?” Jenny deftly changed the subject.

Speaking of this, Agatha began to blush, and her attention focused entirely on the matter of the ‘viscount’s eldest son pursuing her,’ as she said:

“It’s not that formal, really. He invited me to a painting exhibition in the next couple of days, uh… I believe it’s a showcase by the master oil painter Franco Vancliff, and I haven’t agreed to it yet.”

“Hmm? A showcase by master oil painter Franco Vancliff?” Jenny showed some interest.

As a scion of nobility, Jenny had learned about and even quite enjoyed painting from a young age, so if she could view a master’s exhibition while accompanying her best friend, that would indeed be perfect.

“Yes. You were busy the other day, and it wouldn’t seem proper for me to go alone. Jenny, are you also interested in the exhibition? Then… how about I ask him to go to the exhibition tonight?”

“I’ve heard that the exhibition lasts a week, with banquets every evening.”

“Hmm, the works of master oil painter Franco Vancliff are famous throughout the empire, so it’s a perfect opportunity to appreciate them.” Jenny nodded.

“That’s fantastic, then I’ll send someone to contact him right away. Jenny, I love you so much.” Agatha hugged Jenny excitedly and said.
