Chapter 775: Chapter 294: Battle of the Evil Spirits (Two in One Mega Chapter)_4

“The enemy timed their move so well. Could it be that the evil spirit in the gallery was also their doing?” Rein suddenly thought of something and looked up at Olena to ask.

“Lord Rein, you are truly wise.”

“Indeed, that is the case. Judging from the residual aura, it can almost be determined to be the work of the Black Flame Cult,” the capable matron Olena said with admiration as she looked at Rein.

“By the way, this time the enemy not only assassinated Archbishop Gomez, but they also destroyed the core of Mingster’s defensive formation.”

“Are you referring to the formation that combines detection of evil and exorcism among its many functions?” Rein asked.

“Yes, Lord Rein.”

This gave Rein an uneasy premonition.

Yesterday he had seen very clearly, with the formation’s enhancement, the combat power of the Punishment Knights increased by at least fifty percent when fighting with the evil spirit.

Moreover, the formation also restricted the evil spirits from intruding into the Nobles’ District and the Administrative District.

Now that the formation was destroyed, it meant that whether it was the Nobles’ District, the Church District, or the Administrative District, their defensive power was greatly reduced, just like that of the Upper City District and the Commoners’ District.

“The primary purpose of my visit is to relay a message from Admiral Edward that he will request the help of the Imperial Guardians to remove the mark on you,”

“However, this may take some time, and most likely, you will need to take a trip to the Imperial City.”

“Very well, Lady Olena, please tell Admiral Edward I am thankful that he still remembers my issues amidst his busy schedule,” Rein nodded.

…

After Olena left, Rein put the blue and white Warhammer back in the cabinet and, with his arms crossed, began to ponder in his room.

“Is this Black Flame Cult trying to make a statement after their failed operation in Meister County?”

“No, it shouldn’t be just that.”

“Because if they purely wanted to make a statement, they would have come after me for revenge, not choose to assassinate a high priestess of the Goddess Church.”

“Such behavior seems to have some special purpose….”

This made Rein feel a sinking feeling in his heart.

“Mingster, as the provincial capital, isn’t safe either?”

“I really wonder what the higher-ups in the empire are thinking. With someone as powerful as Prince Meinya, the Dragon Knight, these cults should be easy to eradicate, right?”

“Why let them cause trouble? It seems I need to accelerate some matters,” Rein shook his head slightly.

“I need to ensure my own and my family’s safety….”

“In this case, having Viery, Angus, and Neoro join the team seems to be a good thing. They should be able to help with some of the things I am powerless to handle on my own.”

…

Half an hour later, in Rein’s room.

Rein brewed a cup of Jotun Red Tea for Neoro and placed it on the coffee table.

“Neoro, I need your help with something. You’ve been in Mingster for many years, do you know where I can find an Inscription Master? If you’re acquainted with one, could you introduce me?” Rein said straightforwardly.

Neoro looked at Rein with an odd expression and said, “Lord Rein, are you looking to learn inscription, or do you have some inscription-related items that need authentication or creation?”

“I want to learn inscription.”

“If it’s just basic learning, maybe I can help?” Neoro offered with a slight smile.

“Oh? Neoro, you know inscription?” Rein was slightly surprised.

“Yes, I’m a mid-level Inscription Master. Lord Rein, you may not be aware, but one of the basics of scroll making is mastering a certain skill in inscription,” Neoro said with a smile.

“That’s great, can you teach me now?”

“Now? Right now?” Neoro was startled at first, but the next second, he laughed heartily.

“Of course, I can! I think I understand now why your strength is so profound, Lord Rein. Act on your thoughts immediately, never procrastinate, that’s a really good habit,”

In the face of Neoro’s praise, Rein simply smiled and offered no explanation.

Neoro pulled out a journal and explained:

“This is a pattern for a basic defensive inscription, which is also the first inscription most Wizard Apprentices learn when they come into contact with inscriptions.”

Reine looked at it and nodded.

A basic inscription, huh?

Its complexity was about on par with that of ‘Secret Silver Engraved Plate Armor,’ but he could discern that the two inscriptions were not the same.

It seemed that the inscription on the ‘Secret Silver Engraved Plate Armor’ must also be some kind of basic inscription, not too difficult.

“Lord Reine, I wonder if you have ever learned the drawing of wizard arrays?”

“Wizard arrays? I have learned a bit, yes. They require a specially made ink for the drawing,” Reine said after thinking for a moment and nodding.

He remembered the days he spent learning wizard arrays with the twin-tailed girl, Vinica.

“That’s great. In fact, learning inscriptions and drawing wizard arrays have many similarities, for example, both require drawing—one with specially made ink and the other with engraving by spiritual power.”

“There’s also the concept of nodes….”

….

About half an hour into Neoro’s explanation,

Reine’s eyebrows lifted slightly as a system notification chimed:

[You have engaged in the study of inscriptions, and your insight has improved!]

[You have comprehended a new Skill—Basic Defensive Inscription]

[Your skill Basic Defensive Inscription has been enhanced, Experience +1]

Just as Reine thought that was it, the system notification surprisingly chimed again:

[Ding! It is detected that the host has been in contact with inscriptions, triggering the change of profession—Great Armor Forger (Transcendent)!]

[The preconditions for an Armor Forger to advance to Great Armor Forger are: 1. Armor Forger Level 5 or above; 2. Strength 15 points or more, Constitution 15 points, and Spirit 18 points or more; 3. Independently forged any ten qualifying inscribed plate armor components; 4. Possession of inscription-related knowledge….Current conditions not met! Advancement to Great Armor Forger failed!]

Reine was taken aback for a moment, but his expression quickly returned to normal.

Indeed, he had surmised from the ‘Secret Silver Engraved Plate Armor’ that the progression of an Armor Forger was likely related to inscriptions.

This surmise was now confirmed.

Only Reine had not expected the subsequent class change to come so quickly!

Great Armor Forger….

Additionally, although it was just one word ‘Great’ added, Great Armor Forger was a Transcendent profession.

Not being able to change classes at present was merely because he had not fulfilled the third precondition ‘…forging ten inscription components….’.

That is to say, as soon as he forged the ‘Secret Silver Engraved Plate Armor,’ he could change his class to Great Armor Forger (Transcendent) at any time.

Mingster.

Inside the VIP suite of the Yakesen Auction House.

After waiting for two days, Drack finally received the reply from his brother Marquis Orenz.

Just a cursory glance at it was enough to shock him!

The letter read:

“Plans have changed, a major event is about to unfold in the Empire, the Bloodtop Mercenary Corps is en route.”

“According to the Grand Diviner Eugenie Ribero, the Ancient Giant Troll’s fang indeed no longer exists.”

“However, the divination also shows that Reine seems to have used the Ancient Giant Troll’s fang on himself in some way, which makes the blood of his heart have effects similar to the Ancient Giant Troll’s essence blood….”
