Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 3242: Chapter 3243: Shocked by the News of Doomsday

The Pika Sage grew increasingly uneasy the more he thought, and the more uneasy he felt, the less he could sit still.

He stood up, pacing back and forth in the room, his expression extremely solemn.

After pondering for five minutes, he finally couldn’t resist any longer and took out a thick Shell Book with a red leather cover from under the desk.

This thick Shell Book is actually also a display book, but it belongs to the privileged level, possessed by only a few races, allowing direct contact with the leaders of various clans.

Nowadays, whether it’s the Featherkind or the Flowerkind promoted by the Feather Forest Clan, or the Song Tower or the Singer’s Monument promoted by the Singer Clan, someone has already bought them.

He must stop them before the goods are sent out.

Moreover, he also needs to discuss with the leaders of other clans on how to respond to the Singer and Feather Forest Clan’s invasion.

However, just when the Pika Sage opened the display book, preparing to contact others, Glaipnir suddenly spoke next to him: ”Does Pika Sage not trust us?”

The Pika Sage was momentarily stunned, then looked up: ”Not trust? No, that’s not true.”

If he truly did not trust them, he wouldn’t be so anxious to contact the various clans.

Glaipnir said faintly, ”Since you can trust us, why are you in such a hurry?”

After a pause, Glaipnir said with meaningful intent: ”The real concern is still yet to come.”

The Pika Sage frowned: ”Astrologer, the invasion of the Singer and Feather Forest Clan concerns all clans of the Daylight Mirror Domain; how can I not be worried?”

Glaipnir: ”They’ve only sent a few people for now; what’s there to fear?”

The Pika Sage said gravely: ”Although only a few have come, I know that the Singer and Feather Forest Clan are the top two races in the Gesen Mirror Domain, backed by Legendary Level beings.”

”Moreover, I don’t believe their invasion is a spur-of-the-moment decision. Surely it’s sanctioned by the entities behind them.”

”It’s just a few people now, but if not stopped, it’ll likely be more than just a few people later.”

Faced with the Pika Sage’s serious expression, Glaipnir merely laughed lightly with disdain: ”Since you’ve already said their actions are sanctioned by the entities behind them. Even if you stop one or two now, what can you do?”

”As long as the ones behind them don’t relinquish war, those who are coming will ultimately come. Could you possibly stop the invasion of Legendary Creatures?”

The Pika Sage said quietly: ”At least, we can discuss together and perhaps come up with a way to obstruct them?”

”Discuss? The matter to be discussed is not this.”

”A way to block them?” Glaipnir sneered: ”Before obstructing their invasion, you first need to know one thing: where’s the passage connecting the Gesen Mirror Domain to the Daylight Mirror Domain... Do you know for sure?”

”I don’t know,” the Pika Sage said, ”but we can capture the Singer and Feather Forest Clan to ask.”

”And then?” Glaipnir said, ”Aren’t you afraid of alerting the enemy?”

The Pika Sage fell silent.

It’s not that he couldn’t refute Glaipnir’s words, but rather he couldn’t understand Glaipnir; you’ve exposed the Singer and Feather Forest’s plot, yet why are you unconcerned? Do you even have the time to make sarcastic remarks?

The Pika Sage glanced at Angel, then at Glaipnir...

He seemed to understand.

Angel is a human, not rooted in the Mirror Domain, so naturally indifferent to the conflicts between Mirror Domains.

As for Glaipnir and Luigi... They are the Temporal Bodies of that great entity. And that entity, as rumored, resides permanently in the Sea of Void Mirror.

What is the Sea of Void Mirror? Even the peak Life Forms dare not touch it lightly.

Even if the Singer and Feather Forest Clan invade the Daylight Mirror Domain, they probably wouldn’t dare to claim occupancy in the Sea of Void Mirror.

For Glaipnir and the others, disasters won’t fall upon their heads, so naturally, they don’t care about the life and death of other races.

The Pika Sage’s gaze suddenly dimmed. He initially thought that existence would side with them, but now it seems they have chosen to watch indifferently.

The emotional fluctuations of the Pika Sage went unnoticed by Glaipnir, but he could guess some things from the change in his gaze.

Glaipnir shook his head: ”Are you wondering why I am contradicting you?”

The Pika Sage: ”The Astrologer must have his own considerations.”

Glaipnir: ”I don’t believe you think that sincerely; you’re probably scheming against me mentally.”

The Pika Sage smiled, didn’t speak, and instead picked up the display book and busied himself silently.

Glaipnir: ”I don’t mind who you contact, because eventually, you will contact them. But have you never wondered why Angel categorizes this matter as ’minor’?”

The Pika Sage paused in his actions... Indeed, previously Angel explicitly said he had two minor matters to discuss. This was considered the second minor matter.

But is being invaded really a minor matter? Certainly not.

However, standing from Angel’s perspective as a human, as long as the flames of war don’t reach him, it indeed counts as an insignificant minor matter.

Though the Pika Sage didn’t speak, Angel, with Hyper Perception, decoded seven-tenths of his emotions.

Angel: ”You’re thinking that I, being from an alien domain, am indifferent to what’s happening in the Mirror Domain, so it’s a major issue for you but minor for me. Right?”

The Pika Sage dropped his gaze and didn’t speak.

Angel wasn’t bothered and continued: ”Even though I’m not a native Life of the Daylight Mirror Domain, since I’m talking to you, and the matters I speak of relate to you, there’s no need to judge the importance from a human perspective.”

In other words, it’s a matter of being sensible and polite.

If Angel stood from a human’s perspective, this would indeed be minor, as it doesn’t affect him.

But now he’s speaking with the Pika Sage and discussing matters of the Daylight Mirror Domain. If he discusses from his own perspective, wouldn’t that be insensible and impolite?

Angel: ”I say it’s a minor matter, and it is indeed minor. No matter which perspective, even standing from the Pika Sage’s, it’s still minor.”

The Pika Sage paused for a moment and then quietly asked: ”Can you explain why you categorize this as a minor matter?”

Angel: ”The reason is... the so-called war will not start.”

The Pika Sage: ”???”

If he’s remembered correctly, Angel’s previous words were clear: ”The Singer and Feather Forest Clan have come to start a war,” but now he’s saying ”the war won’t start,” isn’t this contradicting himself?

The Pika Sage hesitated: ”What do you mean by this?”

Why are the statements inconsistent?

Angel: ”I just said earlier, they’re coming to start a war. But I didn’t say they would certainly start the war. Since they can’t start a war, isn’t that a minor matter?”

Pika Sage still didn’t quite understand: ”Why can’t we start a war? Haven’t they already initiated the war’s forefront?”

Angel didn’t speak, but instead glanced toward Glaipnir.

As they had agreed earlier, small matters were to be spoken by him, while big matters were left to Glaipnir.

Glaipnir understood Angel’s intention and naturally took over the conversation: ”As the Sage of the Pi Luoxiu Clan, I believe the Sage must know: what constitutes a small matter?”

Before Pika Sage could answer, Glaipnir preempted with an explanation: ”Generally speaking, a small matter is only considered small because there’s a comparison. In contrast to another matter, it becomes a small matter.”

”In other words, compared to what I’m about to say, the two matters Angel mentioned earlier are indeed insignificant trivialities.”

In other words, Glaipnir was ready to reveal a major event.

Pika Sage naturally understood Glaipnir’s implication, and he slowly put down the display booklet in his hands, looking over with a puzzled gaze.

He was eager to know, just how significant was what Glaipnir was about to say? How could it overshadow the ’invasion of the Singers and the Feather Forest Clan’ as trivial?

Glaipnir: ”This matter, I originally planned to first inform the Mirror Dragon Clan, and then let the Mirror Dragon selectively inform other races. Because this matter is very important, it concerns all tribes within the Daylight Mirror Domain.”

”Those too weak, unable to bear the burden, there’s no need for them to know this matter.”

”However, through my previous observation, I can see the responsibility in Pika Sage’s bones. I also believe, after learning of this matter, Pika Sage can remain unshaken and take action.”

”So, I can tell you.”

Before discussing the matter, Glaipnir gave a preamble. It set the stage for what follows, while also reminding Pika Sage of the severity of the issue.

Pika Sage also caught the underlying meaning of Glaipnir’s words.

His expression grew increasingly solemn.

Glaipnir didn’t keep them in suspense. The very first sentence he spoke revealed the answer: ”Have you ever wondered what the Doomsday Scenery of the Daylight Mirror Domain would be like?”

”Doom... Doomsday Scenery?” Pika Sage was stunned for a moment, instinctively shaking his head: ”I haven’t thought about it.”

Glaipnir said indifferently: ”Then you can try to imagine it now, because... doomsday is upon us.”

Pika Sage’s body stiffened, after a long while, he slowly raised his head: ”Astrologer, have you foreseen doomsday?”

Glaipnir didn’t speak, just let out a light sigh.

The questioning in Pika Sage’s eyes disappeared in an instant, leaving only shock and disbelief.

Seeing this, Angel mused in his heart: indeed, having Glaipnir speak about this matter was more fitting.

From Pika Sage’s expression, there was no doubt he believed it.

Even though Glaipnir didn’t provide any reason, just gave a seemingly ambiguous conclusion, Pika Sage believed it.

The reason is simple, Glaipnir is a renowned astrologer, also a guest of the Hundred-Dragon Divine Kingdom. In some circles, her words represent the truth.

Pika Sage happened to be a believer in Glaipnir.

Even the Mirror Dragon Clan trusts Glaipnir’s prophecy, what right does a mere member of the Pi Luoxiu Clan have to doubt?

”Wh-what exactly happened? Why would doomsday appear?” Pika Sage’s voice trembled, but he still managed to ask.

At this moment, he no longer cared about the previous ”war.”

Compared to doomsday, war is truly trivial.

Even if the war is lost, Pika Sage didn’t think Gosen Mirror Domain would annihilate all races within the Daylight Mirror Domain.

Each race has its own strengths, some of which are irreplaceable. For example, some special materials can only be nurtured by certain races, like ”Heart Fire,” which only the Yingji Clan can cultivate; and the ”Gemstone of the End,” which only the Rongshi Clan can nurture.

If Gosen Mirror Domain wants to continue acquiring these special materials, they certainly wouldn’t kill the golden goose. A more likely approach would be to conquer the strong and soothe the weak. Some special races might even receive more benefits than they currently have.

Therefore, war wouldn’t destroy the Daylight Mirror Domain.

But... a doomsday catastrophe would.

Glaipnir didn’t immediately respond, instead she reached into the blazing fire pit, took out a baked berry, used a small spoon to pierce its skin, letting the juice flow into the fireplace, releasing a steaming fruit aroma. Then, she used the broken peel as a strainer, pouring a bowl of red tea with the peel.

She took a gentle sip to moisten her throat.

Only then did she slowly speak: ”The onset of doomsday actually begins with the trivial matters Angel mentioned just now.”

”Angel has indirectly proven that the Singers and the Feather Forest Clan have launched an invasion against the Daylight Mirror Domain. But, Pika Sage, do you know why they are invading other Mirror Domains? And why particularly choose the Daylight Mirror Domain?”

Pika Sage thought carefully. He had never heard of Mirror Domain wars before. Each Mirror Domain is vast, and they can barely manage their own domain, let alone invade others.

He really couldn’t figure out why Gosen Mirror Domain would choose to wage war.

But he could roughly guess why they chose the Daylight Mirror Domain.

There are two primary reasons: first, the Daylight Mirror Domain is close to Gosen Mirror Domain; second, the Daylight Mirror Domain has something Gosen Mirror Domain needs.

Glaipnir nodded: ”You’re correct on one point, the reason they chose the Daylight Mirror Domain is that it shares a bordering boundary with Gosen Mirror Domain.”

If you’re going to conquer another Mirror Domain, choosing a neighboring one is quite normal.

But why did they choose to start a Mirror Domain war?

Faced with Pika Sage’s doubt, Glaipnir slowly revealed the truth: ”Because... Gosen Mirror Domain is on the brink of collapse.”

Upon hearing this, a flash of surprise appeared in Pika Sage’s eyes, but it was soon replaced with an expression of realization.

Earlier, he was puzzled about why a Mirror Domain war would start. Such an expedition seemed a futile effort.

But when he knew that Gosen Mirror Domain was on the brink of collapse, he understood.

When survival itself becomes an issue, the only option is to flee to other Mirror Domains. With the foundation of the Singers and the Feather Forest, there’s no need to become refugees; initiating a Mirror Domain war to seize the discourse power is also reasonable.

However, that seemed unrelated to the impending doomsday of the Daylight Mirror Domain...

Even if Gosen Mirror Domain plans to occupy the Daylight Mirror Domain, they wouldn’t possibly drive it to doomsday, right?

Pika Sage pondered in secret... suddenly, he thought of a question.

Why is Gosen Mirror Domain on the brink of collapse?

Does the so-called collapse refer to doomsday?

Could the doomsday faced by Gosen Mirror Domain be related to the impending doomsday of the Daylight Mirror Domain?
