Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2392: Chapter 2393: Unseeable

As Angel was lost in thought, he inadvertently looked up and noticed that opposite him, Nis did not appear relieved; his brow remained furrowed.

Perhaps sensing Angel’s gaze, Nis glanced over, nodded slightly, and then asked Kanter, ”Under what circumstances would a Legendary Wizard actively dissipate the Power of Laws?”

Kanter: ”There is basically no such situation, because they have no reason to do so.”

If one can perfectly control the Power of Laws, why actively dissipate it?

The dissipated Power of Laws would form waves of Law ripples. These ripples, without a specific target, are mostly harmless beyond the center; they might have some control effects, making movement difficult, but such control is a Law suppression, not unmovable.

For a Legendary Wizard, large-scale attacks and crowd control are easy, with no need to rely on dissipating the Power of Laws.

Thus, it’s unlikely that the Law airwave was released by a Legendary Wizard.

After listening to Kanter, Nis’s brow remained tight. Seeing this, Angel thought of something and asked, ”Do you still suspect that the person you encountered is a Legendary Wizard?”

Nis nodded and sighed: ”It’s not just me. After I went to the Wilderness of Dreams and told Tree Spirit and Ironclad Granny about him, they shared my suspicion.”

”If she actively tried, Granny could blur others’ memories or even lock them. But to do it as nonchalantly as that person, making it hard to trace, recall, or investigate, is impossible with such passive influence.”

Ironclad Granny’s power has always been a mystery, but the fact that Lord Rhein is confident in her sole watch over the Star Pond Ruins suggests she is likely at the pinnacle of power in the Southern Domain.

This implies that Ironclad Granny is likely a Third Level True Knowledge Wizard.

If even Granny cannot achieve this, then for that person to do so, either they possess special abilities, or they exist on a higher level.

Nis: ”Moreover, active action would definitely leave traces. There are no traces left on Wizard Ferro by that person, suggesting that Wizard Ferro was passively affected. Such an ability is beyond the True Knowledge Wizard tier, even imitation is impossible.”

Because I can’t let go of ”that person,” and suspect his power could be beyond Legendary, I have significant doubts about the airwave, thinking he’s behind it.

”If even Ironclad Granny can’t do it, but that person can, who is the ’that person’ you’re constantly talking about?” Kanter looked at Nis with doubt, ”Are you hiding information, digging a pit for me?”

Nis smiled awkwardly, somewhat lacking in confidence, ”No, no. That person has nothing to do with my goals; he was encountered by Wizard Ferro.”

Despite his words, Nis’s demeanor only heightened Kanter’s suspicions: ”Then explain clearly, who is that person?”

With Kanter’s intimidating gaze, Nis hesitated, unsure where to begin. Angel, after some thought, decided to have Nis be quiet and offered to explain.

Angel concisely explained the situation.

After listening, Kanter was not particularly stirred by live sacrifices, base laboratories, Quest World secret factions, organ smuggling, or Soul Arms. He showed slight interest in Soul Arms, but wasn’t deeply invested in its research.

But regarding the person Ferro encountered, Kanter, like Ironclad Granny and others, sensed something was off.

Seeing Kanter remain silent for a while, Ferro couldn’t help but ask, ”Lord Kanter, could that person be of a Legendary level?”

Kanter paused a moment, not answering directly but speaking of something else: ”In our House of Lilith, there was once a headmaster much like Fiewenda, a wizard who loved to travel and record her journeys. But her travel notes are kept internal, never publicly shared; openly sharing like Fiewenda is rare.”

”In her notes, she described situations similar to what Wizard Ferro mentioned, even more than once.”

Amid the surprised and puzzled gazes, Kanter continued, ”In an event most similar to Ferro’s encounter, she had traveled to the Lofte World, intrigued by the local Evil God beliefs, consulting with an unbeliever on the distribution, types, and popularity of Evil Gods in Lofte World.”

”This unbeliever generously shared his research. Nothing happened when talking about other Evil Gods. But when he recounted stumbling upon an Evil God projection’s descent ritual for study, hesitantly recalling the situation, he grew increasingly uncertain, and the more he remembered, the slower his thoughts became...”

Ferro exclaimed, ”That’s exactly like my situation!”

Kanter glanced at Ferro: ”Not exactly, at least your outcome is different.”

Kanter’s light glance gave Ferro a lot of pressure, making him gulp: ”What was his outcome?”

Kanter: ”The ancestor, noticing the unbeliever’s odd behavior, conducted a full body check finding nothing abnormal. The unbeliever, stubborn, continued recalling and even tried to describe the Evil God projection... eventually becoming a monstrosity.”

”His body swelled several times, filled with the sound of roaring tides inside. His skin sprouted countless black slits, filled with sharp teeth and green smelly mucus-spewing tentacles.”

Listening to Kanter’s description made everyone feel strange and creepy. Ferro, especially, shuddered at his own situation’s likeness.

”Finally, the ancestor killed him and documented the account in travel notes. No detailed mention of the Evil God’s name or the ritual, only leaving a summary: in Lofte World, certain rules must be followed—do not spy on Deities.”

Angel also recalled something: the Frost Moon Alliance’s Alchemist ”Brown Sugar Servant” Brufen, trying to resurrect an ancient Evil God from Lofte World, leaked a faint breath, wreaking havoc on the Abyss base on Sky Island, killing countless people.

The Evil God force from Lofte World is among the most bizarre and hardest to ward against of Transcendent energies discovered across the Pan-Dimensional Plane.

Kanter: ”The ’do not spy on Deities’ rule isn’t unbreakable. With enough strength, facing Lofte Evil Gods is fine, even god-slaying.”

God-slaying sounds easy but is beyond their reach.

Because of that story’s eeriness, the air fell silent for a while.

After several minutes, Ferro broke the silence, asking, ”Are you suggesting that person is related to an Evil God?”

Kanter shook his head: ”No.”

”Beyond that Lofte experience, the ancestor encountered similar situations in other worlds, such as Druna World’s beastly Outer Gods, the top-tier Wild Gods of the Wild Realm, and Chen Chi World’s King Fire, all had similar unknowable qualities, not fully like Lofte’s Evil Gods, but somewhat similar.”

”These Outer Gods, Wild Gods, and King Fire sound divine, but Deities are just a moniker, essentially strong Extraordinary Life forms.”

”So, what I want to say is, whoever can wield such power must not be an ordinary Transcendent. Their status far exceeds our imagination.”

In other words, Kanter was hinting that the person Ferro encountered might truly be above Legendary status.

Only such status can achieve such a degree.

Up to this point, Nis’s inspiration, Ironclad Granny and Tree Spirit’s speculations, and Kanter’s ancestral travels—all these series of conjectures ultimately positioned the person Ferro met as above the status of Legend.

One or two guesses could be ignored, but they are all wizards standing at the pinnacle of the Southern Domain, so their speculations must have credibility.

Therefore, considering comprehensively, that person might actually possess a Legendary status.

At the thought of this, Ferro felt very uneasy, because after all, that person was someone he had encountered.

”If I continue to recall that person’s situation just now, will I end up as miserable as the unbeliever of the Lofte World?” Ferro muttered softly.

”The Evil Gods of the Lofte World and Legendary status among humans are not the same, don’t scare yourself,” Angel consoled, ”Since that person kindly warned you, I believe the malice shouldn’t be too severe.”

Kanter: ”Angel makes some sense, but you should still try not to recall them.”

Ferro nodded solemnly, but his face was still pale.

After Kanter finished speaking, everyone fell silent in unison.

Previously, when they were speculating that the other party might be a Legendary Wizard, they already refrained from discussing it further. Now that the identity is almost confirmed, they dared not delve deeper into it, fearing the other party might sense it.

Kanter turned to Nis: ”If I’d known such a big figure would appear here, I wouldn’t have come. Therefore, you must...”

Nis quickly interrupted: ”The contract is already signed, I won’t increase the price.”

Kanter opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but ultimately shook his head: ”Forget it... Just hope that during the exploration, that big figure doesn’t appear.”

With that said, Kanter motioned for Nis to prepare quickly, better to explore the laboratory early and leave soon. Avoid unnecessary mishaps if that person appears.

Nis also understood the urgency of the situation and immediately began to prepare for exploration. As a Soul Witch, his means primarily involved manipulating dead bodies and souls; though he had many skeletal reserves, there were quite a few sea beast skeletons nearby of decent quality, it was better to gather and manipulate them in advance than to deplete his reserves.

While Nis was preparing, Kanter was getting detailed information about the laboratory’s Magic Pattern from Angel.

Meanwhile, Kanter also directed his spiritual power underground, gaining a deeper understanding of the laboratory’s shape.

”This laboratory isn’t too big, buried underground just tens of meters deep. Moreover, many places are quite intricate, looking like... mechanical limbs, considering this, it’s even smaller.” Kanter said.

”Mechanical limbs?” Angel had been previously focused on studying the Magic Pattern and hadn’t sensed the overall shape of the laboratory. With Kanter’s reminder, he also directed his spiritual power underground.

Sure enough, the overall shape of the laboratory resembled a giant round fortress, surrounded by bands of mechanical structures resembling limbs.

This mechanical-limbed fortress reminded Angel of Ironclad Granny’s Ironclad Fort residence.

Kanter: ”They seem like limbs, perhaps internally they are corridors connecting various parts?”

At this point, Reynaud, who had remained quietly in the background, spoke meekly: ”Lord Kanter’s judgment is correct. The laboratory often moves, during movement, those serve as the laboratory’s limbs. When stationary, they encircle the laboratory, forming passages to various levels.”

”This design is quite interesting.” Kanter praised and looked at Angel: ”I just noticed, the fortress exterior is covered with Magic Patterns, can you open it?”

Angel nodded, ”I can.”

”During exploration, having a wizard familiar with Magic Patterns is indeed convenient.” Kanter murmured, he could use brute force to blast open the laboratory door, but that would inevitably cause some uncertain repercussions.

Kanter: ”Since nothing’s happening here, let’s go meet Number 03.”

Since they were exploring the laboratory, they must be fully prepared. Those most familiar with the lab would be their internal personnel, so Kanter decided to meet Number 03.

Simultaneously, he also wanted to probe 03 about whether the person Ferro encountered had any connection to the laboratory.

As they were about to meet Number 03, another roar echoed.

With the surge of pressure from the Law sweeping in, everyone stood quietly at their place, waiting for it to wane.

Finally, as the pressure began to fade, everyone sighed with relief.

After enduring half a minute like wooden statues, Angel couldn’t help but glance at Kanter: ”I remember Lord Kanter mentioned earlier, that while under pressure, there’s a way to move?”

Kanter nodded: ”Yes, the immobility is caused by Law suppression, which can be understood as high energy levels intimidating lower ones, or ’energy level pressure.’ To avoid this, just surround yourself with power whose rank is fairly close to the Power of Laws, and you will not be restricted.”

”Power close to the rank?” Angel questioned, can they harness something almost on par with the Power of Laws?

”Using wizards as an example, if you reach above Legendary status, your Magic Power and spiritual power can pretty much fend off such intimidation. There are also some powerful bloodlines capable of resisting the Power of Laws to some extent. However, in terms of rank, these powers are still nowhere near the Power of Laws.”

”Nonetheless, these powers are quite distant for us, let’s talk about something closer.” Kanter said, turning towards Angel: ”Actually, there is a power in you that can temporarily ward off the residual pressure from the Law, allowing you to move freely.”

”A power in me?” Angel asked in confusion.

Kanter nodded: ”Gravity Meridian.”
