Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2363: Chapter 2364: Xiz

Angel’s gaze moved up and down as he examined Reynaud. His soul body was exceptionally pure, with no trace of impurities within. Compared to the souls of others, Reynaud’s soul body was filled with a burgeoning vitality.

”What are you looking at?” As soon as the Purple Beast left, Angel had been staring at Reynaud, which aroused Nis’s curiosity.

”I’m wondering if Reynaud possesses something that enhances luck.” Angel expressed his doubts.

Nis chuckled and shook his head, ”How is that possible? I checked Reynaud’s soul as soon as I arrived.”

Nis gestured to his eyes, ”As long as it’s hidden within the soul, nothing can escape my eyes. Reynaud’s soul definitely doesn’t contain anything strange, let alone any item that boosts luck.”

Standing nearby, Cindy overheard their conversation and said softly, ”Master Nis, could it be that Reynaud was born with a luck enhancement?”

”You think that’s why the Magical Creature left because of his luck?” Nis asked, puzzled.

Cindy hesitated for a moment, then nodded, ”Previously, that Sea Beast came once before. We saw with our own eyes that it was swimming towards us. But halfway, it turned away.”

Nis was somewhat surprised, ”Did that really happen?”

The chubby apprentice on the other side contemplated for a moment and said, ”I also thought of something. Since we’ve been with Reynaud, we haven’t encountered any storms. Before this, we usually ran into all kinds of terrifying weather phenomena in this sea.”

Cindy nodded too, ”Yes, when we met Reynaud, Master Ferro mentioned he was a lucky fellow because Reynaud lingered deep within the Mist Belt without facing any attacks.”

As all these events were recounted, previously unnoticed details came back to everyone’s mind.

Individually, there didn’t seem to be any issues, but when put together, these coincidences seemed somewhat peculiar.

Reynaud, almost as if favored by the heavens, always managed to avoid danger. Wherever he was became a safe zone.

At this moment, Nis couldn’t help but look back at Reynaud, and after a while, still shook his head, ”Still nothing unusual, a normal soul. If there really is something that boosts luck, maybe it’s near his physical body. His soul certainly shows no anomalies.”

Cindy asked, puzzled, ”After a person dies, can their corpse still affect the state of the soul?”

”Who told you Reynaud has died?” Nis initially wanted to mock a bit but controlled himself upon realizing Cindy asked.

”Reynaud isn’t dead?” The other apprentices turned to look.

Nis: ”I suggest when you go back, enroll in a few Soul Sect courses at the Spirit Tree Courtyard. Listen carefully to the course content; such a pure soul body isn’t something a dead soul can achieve.”

The apprentices showed understanding, ”Precisely because Reynaud isn’t dead, if his physical body contains items that boost luck, it could actually affect the soul body.”

Nis nodded, ”That’s correct, but I still find it a bit presumptuous. Does something capable of continuously influencing someone’s luck truly exist? Also, appearing here in a soul state isn’t exactly lucky. So, even if there’s luck, it surely has its limits.”

Angel thought of the Luck Scroll he painstakingly acquired and nodded silently.

Perhaps it’s really just coincidence?

Nis waved his hand, ”Alright, luck or no luck isn’t the main topic now. I’m more interested in knowing what was up with that Magical Creature just now?”

Nis looked in the direction where the Purple Beast disappeared, his brows furrowing.

Speaking of that Magical Creature, Angel was also quite curious, ”You mentioned it has backing? Does that Magical Creature have some formidable connections?”

”That’s my speculation, but it’s largely accurate.” Nis was about to explain the situation about the Magical Creature to Angel but suddenly remembered something, glancing at the surrounding apprentices who were listening attentively.

Nis: ”Since you’ve encountered it, there’s no harm in sharing. But its affair involves secrets of the Devil’s Sea. Whatever I say today, you must absolutely not spread it, understood?”

Cindy and several other apprentices exchanged glances and nodded without hesitation. From what Master Nis implied, this was privileged information! Such secrets sometimes cost hundreds or even thousands of Magic Crystals to obtain, and getting to hear them was already a profit in itself.

”Consider yourselves lucky. This information comes from me personally, discovered at a research station relic from Heart of the Swarm, and I’ve never told anyone else.” Nis grumbled a few times and began explaining to Angel, ”That Magical Creature, if I’m not mistaken, might be related to the Calamity Beast.”

The so-called Calamity Beast refers to a terrifying giant beast in the Devil’s Sea dating back many, many years, perhaps even thousands of years ago.

This giant beast was born of the ocean and roamed the skies; it was the true master of the Devil’s Sea.

”Though the Devil’s Sea had various terrifying weather disasters long ago, what truly made it infamous was this giant beast. Its destructive power was immense; if it desired, it could even overturn an entire sea area. Where it swam, all became deathly still. That’s why it’s called the Calamity Beast.”

”Back in its era, the Southern Domain still boasted many Legendary Wizards. But even they dared not provoke it lightly.”

This giant beast was also of Legendary Level, but its massive and indestructible body, along with its spiritual power capable of shaking an entire ocean, had already exceeded the limits of human Legendary Wizards.

Plus, it wasn’t keen on venturing onto the continent, preferring to stay in the Devil’s Sea, so it and human wizards remained in direct opposition. It occupied the ocean, while human wizards dominated the mainland.

”The Devil’s Sea had such a powerful giant beast? Did it die eventually?” The chubby apprentice asked curiously. It should be dead, right? After all, they had never heard of such a giant beast in today’s Devil’s Sea.

”Dead?” Nis shot a contemptuous glance at the chubby apprentice and said, ”How ignorant. It’s difficult for beings of such strength to seek death voluntarily.”

”As for why it disappeared later, I don’t know. All I read was in Insercott’s manuscript at the Heart of the Swarm study, mentioning it seemed to have left on its own, certainly didn’t die.”

Left of its own accord? Everyone speculated quietly, perhaps the world could no longer contain it, and it was ”expelled”?

Cindy: ”Does this giant beast have a name, or is it simply called the Calamity Beast?”

Nis: ”Insercott called it ’Shiz’ in his manuscript using ancient Nuazzian language. But I can’t confirm whether this is its true name.”

Shiz, in ancient Nuazzian, means ”the saving feather bearing the Divine Country.”

But this giant beast had no focal attribute of salvation, more like it had an apocalyptic presence.

”Its true name is hard to ascertain, for now, let’s call it Shiz.” Nis paused, ”The Purple Beast covered in what looked like minerals earlier closely matched the sketch of Shiz in the manuscript with at least eighty percent similarity.”

For this reason, Nis speculated that the purple beast just now was closely related to Seathe. Perhaps it was a descendant of Seathe left in the Devil’s Sea. As for why the descendant took so many years to hatch, that... is not important.

”I see, if it truly is a descendant of Seathe...” The apprentices shuddered, as Nis described Seathe’s power to be capable of destroying most of the Southern Domain Wizard World. Angering Seathe was akin to seeking death.

Fat Apprentice: ”Luckily, Lord Ferro didn’t kill it at the time, otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable.”

As they were reflecting, Angel, who had been silent, gently spoke: ”I think I’ve heard about the matter of this Seathe you mentioned.”

Nis looked over suspiciously: ”No way? You’ve also ventured to Insercott’s research institute ruins?”

”If I had ventured into the ruins left by the Heart of the Swarm, I wouldn’t have asked you for the manuscript on hatching Transforming Soft-bodied Insects back then.” Angel replied, slightly annoyed: ”I saw it in a chronicle.”

The name of this chronicle is ”Culori Chronicles: Volume Fourteen.” Since Culori’s matters are involved with secrecy, Angel didn’t mention Culori’s name although it wasn’t an issue discussing with Nis, as there were low-skilled apprentices nearby.

”In this chronicle, there is a secret recorded. It says that in the Devil’s Sea there exists a mysterious giant beast born from the ocean but can fly, capable of influencing the energy field of the Devil’s Sea, thus incorporating the Devil’s Sea under its domain and monitoring the entire Devil’s Sea’s movements.”

Nis nodded: ”Yes, that should be Seathe.”

Angel continued: ”This giant beast was extremely powerful and occupied the Devil’s Sea for an entire era. However, later it was taken to the Phantom Spirit City by Gluz Deward... and then there wasn’t any more information.”

Angel supplemented the whereabouts of Seathe, indicating it didn’t die or leave voluntarily but was taken away by a more powerful and mysterious being.

”Lord Pat, is Gluz Deward a person’s name? And Phantom Spirit City... what’s that?” The fat apprentice looked at Angel full of curiosity.

Angel: ”You don’t need to know about that; after all, it’s not related to the Southern Domain.”

Nis vaguely heard about Phantom Spirit City and muttered: ”So that’s where Seathe went...”

Nis: ”I heard that once a Magical Creature enters the Phantom Spirit City, it’s very hard to come out again. So we actually didn’t need to fear that purple giant beast, next time let’s just catch it for research.”

Nis’ eyes suddenly gleamed.

Angel: ”I am not familiar with Gluz Deward’s Phantom Spirit City, but as far as I know, he is extremely passionate about Magical Creatures, and even divided the magical creatures of Phantom Spirit City into levels. Seathe is currently a diamond-level citizen.”

Angel implied that if Seathe senses its bloodline offspring is killed and requests Gluz Deward to handle the matter as a diamond-level citizen, Nis would surely be unable to escape. — Of course, this presumes that the purple beast is a bloodline left by Seathe.

After hearing Angel’s words, Nis felt rather sheepish: ”I was just casually saying, just casually saying.”

”It’s best not to let its matters within the Mist Belt get leaked.” Angel said.

Angel isn’t worried about Seathe, but more about Gluz Deward... Frost initially warned him that if Gluz Deward saw Toby, given his enthusiasm for Magical Creatures, he might forcibly take him away. So, it’s best not to provoke him, and better to avoid him.

”I understand that.” Nis also cast his gaze towards the other apprentices. They solemnly pledged to ensure that the existence of Seathe’s offspring remains a secret.

After this, Nis looked towards the direction the purple beast disappeared: ”However, putting all other factors aside, I am rather curious. Why did it suddenly leave just now? What happened in that direction?”

”Who knows, perhaps it’s another territorial dispute.” Angel casually replied.

Conflicts among Sea Beasts are generally territorial issues. The reason the Sea Beast earlier fixated on them was because Toby’s Snake Bird form emitted an aura that seemed like a provocation.

”Let’s not bother with it.” Angel didn’t want to waste too much time on this mysterious Magical Creature of unknown origin, he was more interested in Nausicaa’s condition now.

Back to the main topic.

Reynaud remained in a dazed manner, unaffected even when the purple beast attacked, appearing somewhat foolish.

Angel looked at Nis: ”What’s up with Reynaud’s condition?”

Nis: ”I checked and found nothing wrong, it’s an emotional stress response. His consciousness is suppressed, and emotion has taken the dominant position.”

The fat apprentice muttered: ”I don’t see Reynaud having any emotional fluctuations.”

Nis shot him a glare: ”When emotion takes dominance, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s anger or excitement.”

After a pause, Nis addressed Angel again: ”I also found one thing: Reynaud initially showed symptoms of memory loss, not because the memory was concealed, but because his consciousness split, a part was not on his soul body.”

Angel: ”Consciousness split? What do you mean?”

Nis: ”I suspect his physical body probably retains a small fraction of consciousness.”

Meaning the lost memory might be retained within the consciousness of his physical body.

This situation is actually similar to a dual personality. However, Reynaud doesn’t have a dual personality, and the retained consciousness in his body doesn’t support the formation of an independent personality.

He’s merely experiencing a separation of consciousness; the specific reason is still unknown, and it’s the first time Nis has encountered such a case.

What can be determined is that memory loss is certainly related to the separation of consciousness.

Looking at Reynaud, absentmindedly staring at the sea, Nis said: ”I guess his current situation is likely influenced by the separation of consciousness.”

Angel: ”So is there a way to awaken him?”

Nis pondered for a moment: ”I can try using some Soul Sect abilities, internally interfering with the flow of soul power, causing fluctuations in his main consciousness, and drawing out his dormant thoughts. However, direct interference isn’t ideal; it’s best to have a trigger.”

”A trigger? What sort?”

”An external stimulus, preferably one that prompts his emotions to fluctuate. For instance... Nausicaa.”
