Chapter 2366: Chapter 2367: Frozen Ice Coffin

Everyone unanimously agreed to freeze Renko.

Nausicaa nodded and took out a magic rune scroll from her pocket.

On the back of the scroll was a sketch of a frozen coffin, drawn by the seller, indicating that the scroll belonged to the Ice Coffin category.

Magic Rune Scrolls of the Ice Coffin category are generally used when the body collapses or for emergency freezing to save or self-rescue.

The highest class is the ’Time-Stop Ice Coffin’. Although this ice coffin does not have healing effects, it freezes not only physically but freezes time at the moment the ice coffin appears. Your body remains in a nearly time-locked state; virtually any injury, even non-physical ones, can be instantly frozen, stopping time in its tracks and waiting for the resurrection opportunity.

Below that is the ’Rebirth Ice Coffin’, which, unless the injury is irreparable, allows you to restore as time goes by.

Then there are various healing ice coffins with different names and effects. Angel used the ’Healing Ice Coffin’ to freeze Jon back then, which belongs to this category.

However, the magic rune scroll that Nausicaa had was none of the above because she couldn’t afford them.

The ice coffin she held was a discounted scroll obtained from David, named: Sealing Ice Coffin. It belongs to the lowest class in the Ice Coffin category, simply freezing the body for emergency use regarding physical injuries.

The effect is rather thin, but to Nausicaa, since Renko was just an ordinary person, using this to freeze him to delay time for a year or two shouldn’t be an issue.

It gave her and the doctors there a year or two, during which they might find a way to save Renko.

With this thought, Nausicaa ripped the magic rune scroll of the Sealing Ice Coffin in half and placed it on Renko’s forehead. Tearing the magic rune scroll is also a way to activate it, but many wizards find this behavior inelegant and prefer using magic power to activate it. Only when it’s a one-time scroll or when magic power is depleted would they choose to tear it apart. Nausicaa was of the latter; her magic power had been exhausted, and the Sealing Ice Coffin was a one-time scroll, so tearing it apart wouldn’t waste it.

As the magic rune scroll was torn, a chilling breeze seemed to sweep through the spacious medical room. Everyone could feel the surrounding temperature starting to noticeably drop.

The thinly dressed Flea even shivered.

The source of the temperature drop was precisely where Renko lay, as one could see a pale blue light enveloping him. White frost spread over Renko’s skin, and as the blue light glided across, the frost expanded into ice.

In an instant, Renko was frozen inside a fitting ice coffin.

Through the transparent ice coffin, one could see Renko’s skin texture clearly, his eyes closed tightly, his cheeks slightly flushed, looking as if he were asleep.

”Is this okay now?” Flea asked softly.

Nausicaa nodded, stepping back wearily to lean against the wall, constantly adjusting her breath, trying to alleviate the discomfort of her depleted spiritual power and magic power.

On the other side, the white-coated doctors’ eyes gleamed brightly, whispering among themselves.

Such a miraculous transcendent phenomenon appeared right before them, making it hard for anyone to remain calm. Moreover, this was used as a ’medical technique’ to help treat Renko.

Different people had different perceptions of the ice coffin, but to these doctors, it was a transcendent medical technique.

They looked at the ice coffin with eyes filled with joy, exclaiming in awe as if seeing their first love, crazy and passionate.

They even attempted to study the structure of the ice coffin.

However, this did not last long.

About half an hour later, Flea, who had been studying the ice coffin, suddenly noticed something unusual.

”Renko’s lip color seems a bit more ashen than before? His cheeks are turning pale as well.”

As those words left Flea’s mouth, Nausicaa, leaning against the wall, quickly opened her eyes and walked briskly to the ice coffin with a frown.

Her gaze focused on the ice coffin.

Upon closer inspection, Renko hadn’t shown much change at first glance, but a detailed examination and a comparison with his state before entering the ice coffin revealed his face was indeed paler, and his lip color had grown lighter and more ashen.

This result left Nausicaa somewhat incredulous. Although the Sealing Ice Coffin didn’t achieve the time-freezing effect like the Time-Stop Ice Coffin, its freezing also arrested the body’s vitality. For transcendents, it might be passable, but for an ordinary person like Renko, Nausicaa thought it would suffice.

Yet, the reality was different; although Renko was successfully frozen, his injuries continued to deteriorate. The rate had slowed, but it didn’t reach the expected one or two years of delay.

”Madam, about Renko’s injuries...”

”An unexpected situation has occurred,” Nausicaa replied, her face not looking well. She thought it was a sure thing, but reality had dealt her a hard blow.

”Can Renko’s injuries still be delayed?”

Nausicaa was silent for a moment, not responding directly, but instead said, ”I’ll check first.”

After resting for half an hour, the magical core’s magic power recovered slightly, and her spiritual power barely managed control. She attempted to convert her spiritual power into tentacles, slowly probing into the ice coffin, and then transformed magic power into ’eyes’, injecting them into Renko’s body through spiritual power.

After a while, Nausicaa retracted the spirit tentacle, her expression somewhat gloomy.

It took her quite a while before she spoke: ”The side effects of the toxic side effect are even greater than I thought. Moreover, it has formed a vicious cycle with the original poison that infected Renko, multiplying its potency.”

In simple terms, they initially thought the Sealing Ice Coffin could halt two noxious effects. However, unexpectedly, the two deleterious effects joined forces and broke through the freezing power.

”Then... what now?” Everyone’s faces darkened, a repercussion of shattered hope.

”Even with the ice coffin, it can only delay for two days at most,” Nausicaa’s eyes dimmed, troubled as well. She had decided to find a way to save Renko, but the outcome was...

With those words, the air in the medical room turned dense and silent.

This silence persisted for a very long time.

Until the whirlpool of sadness also blended into the atmosphere, compelling Nausicaa to speak first: ”At least there are two days left to try and brainstorm other solutions.”

Flea tightened his lips as if he had resolved something, taking a deep breath: ”Don’t lose heart, a solution must exist. I, I... I’ll head to Dock No.1.”

”What are you going to do?”

”I’m going to study the poison that infected Renko. If I can figure it out, perhaps we can break the initial poison. Destroying one malignant factor might enable the freezing to work?”

Flea didn’t care whether others believed it or not; it mattered that he believed it. Because he couldn’t bear this atmosphere of despair, he had to do something, anything, for Renko.

Without a care, Flea dashed out the door.

Time passed slowly, a day went by, and dawn and dusk began shifting again.

Until nightfall, only then did Little Flea excitedly rush in from outside. He held a test tube in his hand, in which a smoky purple liquid swirled.

”This should be the antidote; I made it as quickly as I could through processing a semi-finished product!”

Little Flea only mentioned it briefly and didn’t explain how he found the antidote or how he made it, but from his bloodshot eyes and his face, pale as if he were dead, it was clear he had labored tirelessly day and night to achieve it.

Little Flea handed the test tube to Nausicaa, because with Renko in ice, only Nausicaa could inject the potion through the ice into Renko’s body.

Nausicaa didn’t know if this so-called antidote would work, but at this point, they could only treat a dead horse as if it was alive.

She systematically injected the potion into Renko’s body using magic power as a conduit.

When everything was done, everyone widened their eyes, staring hard at the surface changes on Renko.

By now, Renko had been frozen for over forty hours; his face was bloodless, and his lips were dark blue, appearing just like a corpse.

Everyone was waiting for a miracle.

As time passed minute by minute, about half an hour later, there was still no obvious change on Renko’s skin surface.

Everyone turned their gaze to Nausicaa. They couldn’t see inside Renko at the moment; perhaps this potion’s effects weren’t outwardly visible, but inside he was recovering?

However, Nausicaa replied with a gentle shake of her head.

Nausicaa had been monitoring changes within Renko; that potion... had no effect. Through the interaction of the toxins, the original toxic effects had peaked, even showing signs of compound toxins, rendering the original antidote ineffective.

Receiving this answer, the group was utterly despairing.

Little Flea’s eyes went blank as he collapsed to the ground.

There were only a few hours left until the final moment, and finding a cure in such a short time was practically impossible.

Everyone understood that the ending was already determined.

After a long silence, a doctor came to his senses: ”Life inevitably reaches its end; Mr. Renko is merely taking the peaceful path ahead of us.”

”While there’s still a little time, let the others come in and take a look. At least to bid Mr. Renko a final farewell.”

Little Flea abruptly stood up: ”No, how can we despair? There’s still time, we can still save him, think of a way, think of a way! We must save him...”

Initially shouting angrily, in the end, Little Flea was already pleading through tears.

Everyone could understand Little Flea’s feelings; they were even more saddened because Little Flea had only spent half a day with Mr. Renko, while they had been with Mr. Renko for much longer.

The pain of losing Mr. Renko, they understood more, and it was more profound.

The somber atmosphere that had slightly lifted due to silence was rekindled at this moment. Some couldn’t help but cry softly; even though they were doctors who had seen many deaths, none had made them as sad as this one.

Nausicaa leaned against the wall, watching everyone cry together, memories of past times flooding her mind.

Conquering the Blackberry Sea wasn’t easy; during the times of battling with the sea, pirates, and various forces, Nausicaa witnessed her companions leaving one by one.

Whenever a comrade passed away, there would be someone on the ship crying in grief. Nausicaa was the calmest one; she also wanted to cry, but as a leader, she had to hold back her tears, comfort her comrades, and depict a better future for them.

This situation lasted a long time until one day, her closest confidant fell on the shipping lane.

That was the darkest day of Nausicaa’s life. Even as strong as she was, on that day she became vulnerable, holding her confidant’s body, she cried wantonly in the dark and narrow room.

She was the mental pillar for everyone on the ship, and wasn’t her confidant her pillar too?

This kind of sorrow akin to the collapse of faith was too familiar to Nausicaa.

Renko was the faith of this group, the pillar that upheld justice and principles on this dreary island. His fall not only meant the death of a person but also symbolized light being eroded by darkness and rules descending into chaos.

A peaceful life would be transformed entirely.

Nausicaa looked at the scene before her, her hands clenched tightly under her sleeves.

She wanted to save Renko.

Desperately so.

Previously, she wanted to save Renko because he had saved her. But at this moment, she wanted to save him because she hoped there would still be a lighthouse in the eternal darkness, continuously illuminating and guiding the course of the Moonlit Navigator.

But how to save him?

Relying solely on the skills of these doctors would not revive Renko in a short time. The most reliable solution now was to use extraordinary abilities.

However, she didn’t have many healing potions on her, nor had she systematically learned tricks for treating and detoxifying. How could she save the young life that was about to fade?

Reynaud might have a way... after all, he had been a transcendent for over thirty years, his experience and knowledge far exceeding Nausicaa’s.

But, at this moment, Reynaud’s whereabouts were unknown. Even if they found him, could they bring him back in less than eight hours?

Nausicaa sighed.

”If only Angel were here.” Angel was an Alchemy Master, even in Metallography, but to become a master under Ashiliye’s tutelage, he must have dabbled in Potionology. With Angel around, perhaps Renko could be saved.

It’s just, Angel was probably still on the Flourish Continent now... Sky Mechanical City? Or Barbarian Cave?

Either way, not here.

Finding Reynaud would be faster than finding Angel.

Nausicaa couldn’t help but laugh and shook her head, ”What am I foolishly thinking, how could Angel possibly...”

Halfway through the sentence, Nausicaa suddenly paused.

She thought of something.

Nausicaa pondered for a moment, then slowly took out a Spatial Capsule from a hidden pocket. Inside the Spatial Capsule was only one item, a monocle made of crystal lenses.
