Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 239: Chapter 237: Summoning Gains

With the first knight falling in battle, the charging knights behind plunged into disarray.

Some knights attempted to jump out of the Wraith Whiskers’ range of influence, while others wanted to leap over but ended up stepping right onto a Flame Trap.

In an instant, all of the knights’ charges were interrupted.

The two knight heroes, with the strongest capabilities, managed to control their warhorses; the rest all encountered issues.

Faced with the knights’ situation, the zombie boss standing not far away didn’t intend to take action.

When Gu Xi placed them in this position, they already knew their task: to serve as a city wall to block the knights’ impact, stall the enemy, giving the archer team and mage team behind time to attack the knights.

As for their life or death, they actually didn’t care.

And so it is now, they just stood directly in front, unmoving even in the face of the knights’ chaos.

The skeleton mages and skeleton shooters behind seized this opportunity to launch an attack on the knights.

However, this time they didn’t achieve any focused fire effect; the two knight heroes responded appropriately, retreating to their initial charging position after leaving behind the bodies of three knights.

Though they lost four knights, the others weren’t hurt much and no longer dismissed Gu Xi’s existence; the two knight heroes exchanged a glance, and one raised the long spear in hand.

”Double-headed Snake!”

Subsequently, the two knight heroes ran to the left and right sides, and the remaining dozen knights followed in two groups behind the knight heroes.

They were using the knights’ attack battle array, the Double-headed Snake.

This battle array is a kind of attack tactic among the knights, considered a probing attack battle array.

The Double-headed Snake, with one head attacking and the other defending, can switch between offense and defense.

With this charge, the knights swiftly recovered their original speed.

At the same time, it was noticeable that the speed of charge from the knight corps on both sides was different.

At this moment, Gu Xi had no time to pay attention to the knights’ situation; just now, because Gu Xi took the initiative to kill the ghost maid, it provoked a reaction from the remaining ghost corps.

This ghost was in a normal ghostly form, clearly nearly a hundred in number, gathering together surrounded by dark clouds and chilling winds.

It could be seen that these ghosts were quite potent, though they were not all warriors like the ghost maid; among them, some were temporary troops summoned by the hero.

As they flew over here, Gu Xi naturally focused his attention on the ghosts.

The way he dealt with the ghost maid just now could naturally also be applied to these ghosts.

Having just drunk a magic potion, Gu Xi’s mana was replenished to 2000. He pointed the Cold Wind Staff, and five Bone Storms flew out.

They flew from five directions toward the ghosts.

The ghosts here had seen how Gu Xi dealt with the ghost maid, and they knew very well that Bone Storm posed a significant threat to them.

So when the Bone Storm flew over, they chose to use their unique ability, Wind Control!

That’s right, these ghosts were actually magic-system ghosts. Though not mastering very powerful spells like mages, they could somewhat control the wind.

The chilling winds and dark clouds around them were gathered in such a way.

And these ghosts didn’t need to confront the Bone Storm head-on; they just needed to blow away some of the bone fragments, creating a path.

With the ghosts’ movement, Gu Xi felt the pressure; he hadn’t managed to encircle the enemy with the Bone Storm.

At this time, a commotion was also coming from the side of the zombie axe and shield troops.

After passing beyond the range of the Flame Traps, the knights finally charged into the zombie axe and shield soldiers’ territory.

Even if they raised their shields for comprehensive defense, it was useless; these knights were utterly ruthless, a twitch of the long spear, and a zombie axe and shield would be slain.

Seeing this situation, Gu Xi grew somewhat angry.

”Are you stupid, charge and kill them!”

With Gu Xi’s moment of distraction, the Bone Storm lost its control, and the ghosts took the opportunity to close the distance to less than fifty meters from Gu Xi.

At this moment, it only took a few more steps for the ghosts to charge right up to Gu Xi.

By then, no matter how strong Gu Xi was, he couldn’t escape being surrounded by so many ghosts.

Even if there were still some skeleton soldiers around Gu Xi, it wouldn’t matter; the combat power of the skeleton soldiers couldn’t match that of the ghosts.

Just as Gu Xi turned back to deal with the ghosts, a cold glint suddenly appeared among the ghost troops.

All the ghosts visibly slowed down.

Gu Xi looked up and found that it was Luna, who had been swept to an unknown location after entering the water.

Now, Luna came with those ghosts she had brought along previously.

With Luna and these ghosts joining in, the enemy ghosts couldn’t come over for a moment.

Seeing the situation in front of him, Gu Xi quickly unleashed several Bone Storms to block in front of him.

Gu Xi strategically placed the Bone Storms at a distance from the ghosts.

As soon as the Bone Storms went down, Luna understood Gu Xi’s intention and commanded her ghosts to push the enemy ghosts toward the direction of the Bone Storms.

At this time, Gu Xi also summoned a skeleton priest to provide enhancement and blood replenishment to his ghosts.

The enemy ghosts hadn’t expected to be ambushed, so their formation was somewhat chaotic for a moment.

When Gu Xi released the Bone Storms, he didn’t have time to control the ghosts, and with a push from Luna, they were swept into the Bone Storm.

Under the effect of the Bone Storm, the ghosts caught inside were quickly defeated.

The number of ghosts on both sides became somewhat matched.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Gu Xi took some time to point to the place where the ghost maid had fallen.

”Soul Summoning Skill!”

After a ghost dies, it generally doesn’t leave a corpse behind, at most just some spirit powder, but Gu Xi wanted to try to see if he could summon these ghosts.

After all, considering the combat strength of the previous ghost maid, Gu Xi was indeed envious.

Following the release of the Soul Summoning Skill, Gu Xi continuously heard messages of summon failure in his ear.

Unwilling to give up, Gu Xi shifted his hand to the Knight Direction Country.

Just when Gu Xi thought this attempt would also fail, a voice suddenly came to his ear.
