Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 228: Chapter 226: Instance Quest

Gu Xi, holding the Cold Wind Staff, stepped out of the Route 19 bus stop, unable to assess his surroundings before being quickly surrounded by people.

Faced with the current situation, Gu Xi was startled. What was going on? Could it be that the battle in the dungeon was about to commence?

This was way too fast.

Does this dungeon give no time for preparation?

As Gu Xi thought about this, he raised his Cold Wind Staff, ready to launch an attack on the enemies in front of him.

But someone on the other side spoke first, ”Who are you? Do you not know that Westminster Cathedral is now a forbidden zone? Quickly, retreat.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi put away his Cold Wind Staff, realizing it was the dungeon soldiers stopping him from approaching Westminster Cathedral.

Gu Xi glanced around and then saw an old man not far away cooking something in a large pot. He shouted loudly, ”Grand Knight, Grand Knight, it’s me, I brought back that black flower from Westminster Cathedral.

I’m here to help Anna now.”

Hearing Gu Xi’s words, the old man, engrossed in studying the liquid in the pot, finally lifted his head. He glanced at Gu Xi, puzzled.

”Your power seems to have increased significantly.”

Gu Xi was aware that his current level was worlds apart from what it used to be.

His equipment was also distinctly different, especially the Cold Wind Staff in his hand, the Spirit Lamp, and the Reversed Lich on his shoulder, which weren’t items just anyone could obtain.

”As an Undead Mage, one gains some skills to enhance their abilities.”

The Grand Knight said nothing about Gu Xi’s sudden increase in power, having seen it many times before.

In Victoria City, which noble didn’t possess such capabilities?

He was merely curious about what Gu Xi intended to do here at this moment.

”Alright, everyone, step aside; I know this person, and so does the eldest princess. Let me talk to him.”

Upon hearing this, the soldiers nearby swiftly stepped aside.

Gu Xi noticed that the soldiers did not retreat too far; they continued patrolling nearby while it seemed that Victoria had moved the battlefield defense lines here with sandbags, barriers, chevaux-de-frise, and barbed wire forming circle after circle on the road.

In addition to these defenses, there were war machines like catapults and crossbow carriages.

It seemed that this dungeon did not use Gu Xi’s departure as the time node.

While Gu Xi was still observing the dungeon situation, the Grand Knight arrived before him.

”Although I don’t know how you changed so much in a day, the eldest princess has already entered Westminster Cathedral. We can’t delay for three days even if that’s what the eldest princess said.

You’ve come here surely for the sake of the eldest princess, and I need your help now.”

”I’ve come naturally for the eldest princess, so tell me, where should I attack?”

”No, not now, you don’t need to attack Westminster Cathedral. The soldiers of Britain aren’t all dead, why let civilians act? You can see we’re defending against the strange influences externally.

There are many minor matters that we can’t spare people for. Do you remember the black flower you brought before?

That’s the flower from that eerie apple tree. I’ve used up all the flowers I had, which are key to unraveling the apple tree’s secret. Can you help me find some more apple blossoms?

I don’t need many, ten flowers, no, twenty will do.

You’re a mage, right? If you help me find them, I can guide you in some magical techniques.”

[Ding! While communicating with the Grand Knight in the dungeon, you learned of his needs, and a dungeon quest has been activated!]

[Dungeon Quest: Black Apple Blossoms]

[Task Description: Find a sufficient number of apple blossoms and deliver them to the Grand Knight for research.]

[Task Requirement: Find 20 apple blossoms (0/20)]

[Task Reward: One skill level +1.]

[Note 1: The place with the most apple blossoms is naturally the apple tree. If you can’t get close to the apple tree, you can also check the nearby alleys.]

[Note 2: Be aware, the apple blossoms are quite dangerous, prepare for battle when facing them.]

A quest emerged upon arrival.

Gu Xi felt pleased with the quest; it was quite decent, a skill level +1, which was definitely better than the long-term quest from the Tree of Wisdom.

The Tree of Wisdom’s long-term quest targeted professional skills, whereas this quest could improve all skills.

This meant that the Undead Knowledge and Magic Knowledge, which Gu Xi hadn’t upgraded, as well as the Soul Summoning Skill affecting Undead Domination, were within the upgrade range.

This was really good news for Gu Xi.

It’s worth noting that the prerequisite for activating the talent includes upgrading Undead Knowledge and Magic Knowledge to level 6, alongside eight professional skills to level 4.

Professional skills could be enhanced through various means, but Undead Knowledge and Magic Knowledge must be self-taught or improved through luck.

The task reward before him was quite desirable for Gu Xi.

So, Gu Xi accepted the task immediately.

After Gu Xi took on the task, the Grand Knight handed him a pass allowing him free access around Westminster Cathedral.

As long as he steered clear of the Holy Knight’s defensive line, he could move freely.

Glancing at the map, Gu Xi saw the areas he could explore; the streets and alleys outside Westminster Cathedral were open to him.

He could approach halfway to the grand square in front of Westminster Cathedral but no further because beyond lay the Holy Knight’s defense line, and anyone approaching would be attacked as an enemy.

Beyond the Holy Knight’s line, several other defense lines surrounded Westminster Cathedral.

According to the map, the largest of these was from the British Royal Guard, followed by the Church’s Holy Light Priest Corps, and then the mage-dominant Merlin Knights, as well as the warrior-dominant Highlander Legion.

About a hundred Gryphons circled in the sky.

Though these forces did not house individuals beyond level 20.

Gu Xi didn’t doubt their strength; it was merely because the dungeon’s level cap limited the presence of level 20 legendary lords in this scene.

Therefore, Gu Xi did not rush forward to make contact. He planned to complete the [Black Apple Blossoms] dungeon quest first.

However, before setting out to find the black apple blossoms, Gu Xi had one more thing to do.

He turned and walked to the Route 19 bus stop. As he set foot on the platform, a line of text appeared before him.

[Dungeon Exit Found. Do you wish to exit the dungeon?]

[Please note the exit direction prompt. Would you like to return the way you came or enter Victoria City?]
