Three Towers Game

Chapter 1324: Chapter 420: He Comes from the Evil Land

The classroom was extremely quiet.

The rustling of all the ”classmates” writing had stopped, even the teacher was frozen.

Soon, the surroundings began to twist, and a bonfire appeared out of nowhere.

Wen Xishu saw an utterly exaggerated scene, as if heaven and earth had been lifted up.

Or rather, it was like pages being turned in a book, and the page that belonged to the eerie classroom had been flipped over.

In its place was another page.

When the new environment generated, what Wen Xishu saw was a gigantic library, boundless, just like what he’d gone through in the second painting.

But Reid—was gone.

At this moment, Reid was on an England-style street, continuing his trial.

[Reid, you’re a reliable partner. Even though you’re not the one I’m screening for, you’ve performed very well. But unfortunately, the rules of Pen Town can’t be changed at will, not even by me who set them.]

[Your partner got full marks, but you haven’t reached sixty points yet. You still need to grind a bit more in the other horror scenes of Pen Town. Here’s a hint: this round is simple—hide, and don’t get found. Ever played hide-and-seek?]

[But you’d better not try to be too creative. After all, the clown and Jack the Ripper are famous for making surprises. This is a dead city that belongs only to the two of them.]

Reid’s current score was fifty-five points, which was quite high. You could say betting on Wen Xishu had paid off.

But he really hadn’t expected that he and Wen Xishu would be forcibly separated.

There were many buildings along the street, and sewers underground.

Reid carefully observed, searching for a good spot to hide.

This game didn’t seem as hard as he’d imagined. After all...the street covered a large area.

But very soon, Reid started swearing.

”Fuck! How is this even allowed?!”

Reid was at the edge of the street. At the moment, Jack the Ripper and the clown were patrolling the road, so he was safe.

But at the edge, he saw a strange barrier.

At the same time, a voice prompt sounded in his head.

[You’ve discovered this strange barrier. We call it ”the circle”. You can’t hide outside the circle. Outside the circle you’ll die instantly. Trust me, when it comes to life and death, in Pen Town I have the final say.]

[Oh, and here’s a friendly reminder—the circle will shrink, and in the end it will shrink down to a very, very small area.]

Reid had still underestimated how vicious Pen Town was.

When the circle shrank to just a few square meters, in a space that small, there was no way Jack the Ripper wouldn’t find someone.

But the process would take time.

And during this time—

Wen Xishu had already met the owner of this town.

...

...

Inside the library.

In the space between the massive bookshelves, there was a square table. On the table lay a pen with three colors—red, white, and black—forming a three-phase spiral.

The Master of the Pen was wearing glasses, and he looked like a Longxia People man, probably in his early thirties, with a square face and a hairline in danger, and heavy dark circles under his eyes like smoky eye makeup from staying up too many nights.

His appearance was utterly average, the kind you wouldn’t give a second glance if you passed him on the street.

And yet this was the man who controlled all of Pen Town, and also held a crucial secret in his hands.

”I didn’t expect that the one I was waiting for would actually be you.” The Master of the Pen spoke first.

Wen Xishu slowly walked to the opposite side of the square table.

”You’re the owner of Pen Town?”

”That’s me. You can call me Mosen. Or maybe you’ve already figured out who I am.” the Master of the Pen said.

As Mosen spoke, he quickly found a sheet of paper on the table and wrote: ”The square table in the library turns into a coffee table. On it are fruits for the visitor, cigarettes, an ashtray, and bottled water—the brand doesn’t matter, as long as it’s the high-end stuff in this world. On the other side of the coffee table is a comfortable sofa.”

After he finished writing, Wen Xishu saw something like a page-turning scene.

This part of the library instantly turned into what the Master of the Pen had described.

Fresh fruit, cigarettes, water.

The Master of the Pen casually took out a cigarette and lit one.

”A glass of water, a pack of smokes, four thousand words a day. That used to be my life.”

”Don’t be shy, have one? Or something to eat? How about some Michelin-starred cuisine? You might have the attributes of not getting tired, hungry, thirsty, or suicidal now, but you still have desires.”

Wen Xishu had to admit, this was a trick he’d love to learn.

”Seeing you—does that mean I’ve cleared the instance?”

The Master of the Pen shook his head:

”There’s still one last round. But before that starts, I can answer a few of your questions. Normally, if you followed the full process, you wouldn’t be seeing me yet. You’d still have to rack your brains in the amusement park, play hide-and-seek on Baker Street, and escape from the zoo...ah, I designed quite a lot of content.”

”Points don’t mean much. Points only matter in that if you fall below a certain threshold, you die; if you go above a certain threshold, you can exchange them for some things.”

”Still, I really didn’t expect that you’d only need a few scenes to figure out my situation.”

”Excellent. I’ve written before that someone like me would find me. I paid a price for that sentence, but it was worth it.”

Wen Xishu’s heartbeat sped up slightly.

He sensed that the Master of the Pen was likely a very key figure.

He asked a question of his own:

”You...where are you from?”

The Master of the Pen replied calmly:

”Say those two words. Go on, don’t hold back. We’re already face to face, and this place is absolutely safe. All these years, whether it’s the constellations or the Outer Gods, I’ve set up a Barrier. Only their underlings, the weaker ones, can make it here. They themselves will never be able to find me.”
