The Martial Unity

Chapter 3741: The Political Ramifications

Even as the news of the death of the Emperor of Harmony spread across the continent and the world, the war came to a rapid close.

It began with NOVA withdrawing the forces of Greater Tekvoria from various battlefields in the true world, most of them in the Northern battlefront outside Kandria.

That served as a signal to all anti-Panama alliance members.

The war was over.

NOVA had initiated the world war and had mobilized allies to support its effort against the Kandrian Empire.

If she withdrew her forces, then it meant that she had ultimately failed in her stated goal of returning the sea monsters to the Great Nam Ocean. The Panamic Alliance and its allies had managed to protect its continent, or the Kandrian Empire, rather, without the sea monsters.

Even if there were various forces in the true world that still had reason to fight the Panamic Alliance, largely centered around the negatron mines, they still withdrew their forces from their various attacks.

The giants had already withdrawn with an order from none other than the Suneater, an event that had shaken the entire world, both literally and metaphorically.

With the tekvores gone, the anti-Panama side had no chance of winning. It would free up so many forces and Panama’s allies that they could redirect all that war potential towards those who dared to continue to fight.

The Evolutionary Army withdrew its forces almost immediately after the giants had withdrawn, after only NOVA, while the portion of the therianthropes and the dwarves who had sided with NOVA had halted their attack.

The anti-Panama forces all withdrew, silently or with declarations and statements, causing even the Panamic allies to withdraw. The elves returned their deployed flora power back to their continent and closed their highly energy-consuming portals.

The dwarves withdrew their deployed mechs, returning to Sirinwel as the world grew silent.

The war had come to an end.

Moreover, there was a clear winner and loser, this time. The military objectives of the Panamic Alliance had been fulfilled; they had managed to preserve their absolute control over the negatron mines. NOVA’s stated objective was to force them to relinquish control, and that had completely failed, as not a single sea monster had returned.

Not a single person in the know could control their surprise at how NOVA and Greater Tekvoria went from achieving absolute victory to completely failing.

NOVA went from having two top-ten powerhouses loom over the Kandrian Empire, all but ready to completely annihilate it, to completely losing and falling back entirely.

Of course, she had managed to crush a part of the Kandrian Empire and also assassinate one of the greatest assets of the Panama Continent. But Greater Tekvoria had also suffered some destruction when Rui teleported one of NOVA’s own attacks into the Continent of Acherialis.

The sudden shift in who had the advantage and who was winning was quite jarring.

It was marked by the return of the Dawnbringer; everybody knew. Satellite and long-range surveillance showed how he pushed back or lured away the powerhouses away from the Kandrian Empire and then defeated them.

They marveled at how he dismantled the black MECHA before somehow persuading the Suneater to return to Samarkha. They were stunned by how he completely dismantled Sentinel Prime, incapacitating him, before teleporting away for some reason.

The Martial forces of the Alliance returned home in jubilation and triumph, before they learned of the news.

”His Majesty... is dead?” Sage Sayfeel’s voice shook.

His expression was shattered with shock and grief.

THUD

He collapsed to his knees, staring at the ground with a lost expression.

”This...” Sage Zentra’s expression crumpled with grave severity. ”This is... deeply tragic.”

”Rui’s dad is dead...” Kane’s expression grew saddened. ”I need to get to Rui immediately. I can only imagine how bad and guilty he must feel.”

”He was a good emperor and a good friend...” The Flickering Elder heaved a sigh as she simply plopped her exhausted little body to the ground. ”I’ve known him for centuries, ever since he was a young man and approached us, the original Martial Masters of the Kandrian Empire, to support him for the throne.”

”His Majesty... was probably the best ruler we could have ever asked for.” Sage Sera’s eyes were laden with darkness. ”Now... it feels like the Kandrian Empire is unanchored.”

Her words summed up the sentiments of the many gathered Martial Sages. Their expressions grew grim and uncertain about the future of their nation and the future of Panama without the powerful and potent leadership of the Emperor of Harmony.

Just what would fill the void that he left behind?

There was only one man who could fill it, but everybody knew he would never do so, having seen what he did in the last throne war. The darkness of the air seemed to grow stronger despite the bright ceiling lights of the World Bridge dispatch facility that brought them back.

They only sensed an impending storm.

They only felt the boiling peril in the air.

At the moment, the Kandrian Empire contained ninety percent of all Martial Artists in the world, concentrated within its territory. After all, they had all been deployed by their respective nations to the Kandrian Empire to protect it.

The Martial Sages weren’t exactly political whizzes, but they understood that this was a political bomb waiting to explode.

The entirety of the Martial world of the Panama Continent was gathered in the most powerful nation in the world, whose leader, the most powerful leader in the continent, had just passed away, leaving behind an enormous void of power waiting to be filled by somebody or the other.

It was an extremely dangerous situation.

In the worst-case scenario, the Kandrian Empire could be completely destroyed and torn apart by all these external parties. While they wouldn’t go as far as to literally annex land, largely because they feared the Dawnbringer, they could begin offering support to various princes and princesses.

The princes and princesses wouldn’t hesitate to accept their support in exchange for massive concessions. All nations in the world would begin actively partaking in the new Kandrian Throne War to install a new leader who would be more favorable to them or have an ideology more consistent with whoever they supported.

The Kandrian political establishment would become infested with foreign powers.
