The Golem Mage

Chapter 516 516: Memories.

Alec observed as the eyes of the astral projection underwent a transformation, in that moment, he felt a peculiar pressure emanating from the figure before him.

It wasnʼt the typical pressure that stemmed from someone being stronger; it was a deeper sense of power that made Alec feel insignificant, like a mere speck of dust that could be easily brushed away if he wasnʼt cautious.

”You punk, this is the second time youʼve awakened a sliver of my consciousness, how are you able to summon me to this space?” Solara questioned, his words throwing Alec off guard, this wasnʼt following the script that Alec had anticipated.

According to the plan, the astral projection of the mage was supposed to introduce himself and proceed with demonstrating the Fire Wheel spell, imprinting every muscle movement and detail into Alecʼs memory to help him grasp the spell completely.

However, no matter how Alec tried to explain the situation, it felt as if the real creator of the spell had taken over the astral projection.

”Donʼt just stand there, punk! Tell me, are you a student of the War God Academy?” Solara pressed further, his expression growing fierce. In that moment,

Alec sensed that answering incorrectly might result in harm befalling him in an instant, with caution, Alec lightly nodded his head, preparing himself for whatever might transpire. However, he noticed the mageʼs body relaxing as he glanced down.

Following the mageʼs gaze, Alec realized he was staring at his navy-coloured student badge engraved with the words ”Captain Rank.”

”Would you look at that! You must be a genius, entering the captain rank at the Tier 4 Mage realm,” Solara exclaimed, but Alec had no interest in correcting him and revealing that he had actually achieved the captain rank while he was still in the Tier 3 Mage Realm, since he had noticed that the mage in front of him had a tendency to shift moods abruptly without warning.

”Well, since you are a disciple of the War God Academy, that would explain how you were able to get your hands on two of my handwritten spells, but itʼs still a bit disappointing to think that you have been rewarded with two of my spells, it makes me feel like Iʼm not so special after all,” Solara continued to blabber on as Alec simply stared at him, showing no interest in interrupting.

Alec was aware that there was a time limit to their synchronizing but he didnʼt dare to complain in front of the Mage, even if the mage before him didnʼt intend it, Alec still felt the weight of the pressure on him, as It seemed that the moment the mage possessed the astral projection changed everything.

”Who is your instructor?” Mad Dog suddenly questioned, taking Alec by surprise.

Alec looked at him with a perplexed expression, but seeing Solara raise his eyebrows, Alec spoke without waiting for him to repeat the question.

”Well, itʼs Terran, Terran Dunce!” Alecʼs voice seemed to thin out towards the end of the sentence as he mentioned his masterʼs name, he was well aware that Terran wasnʼt exactly the type of role model one could be proud of mentioning outside.

As Terran had managed to make enemies out of almost every instructor in the academy; he likely only had drinking buddies and acquaintances from the punishment halls.

Alec had been cautious when revealing Terranʼs name, unsure if Terran had made an enemy of the man standing before him, however, the moment he mentioned Terran, the immense pressure Alec had been feeling magically disappeared.

”Ha ha, that other punk finally got himself a disciple who wonʼt die! That means if you are that punkʼs disciple, then you are my grand disciple!” Solara words left Alec thoroughly confused, as he recalled that his masterʼs master had always been referred to as Mad Dog, but seeing the genuine, gentle smile on the mageʼs face, Alec couldnʼt quite reconcile the name with the face before him.

”Well, judging from your expression, I suppose you only know me by my title name, Mad Dog of the War God Mage Academy, donʼt be too surprised—itʼs really me. I earned that name due to a certain aspect of my abilities being related to dogs,” Mad Dog explained.

”As much as I canʼt comprehend how youʼve managed to summon a part of my consciousness here twice, I do believe there is some higher power at work, trying to urge me to teach you the Fire Wheels spell,” Mad Dog continued, and Alec realized he might be referring to the system.

Alec could already imagine that the system wasnʼt pleased with someone intruding on the guidance it was supposed to provide to Alec.

”But donʼt worry, I think Iʼve found a way around this higher powerʼs loophole, as long as I teach you the spell, nothing will happen, however, I must confess, although I wrote the spell, it was not created by me,” Mad Dog admitted.

”Then who did?” Alec questioned.

” I canʼt just tell you like that, but he executed the move in front of me, and from what I remember, I wrote about it and created many sub-spell based on my understanding of his technique, but as your grand master, I want to give you a gift.

I wonʼt teach you my version, but rather, Iʼll allow you to experience the main version that I witnessed yourself,” Mad Dog said, extending his index and middle fingers to touch Alecʼs forehead.

As soon as their fingers made contact, Alec felt his head on the verge of bursting, his eyes rolled to the back, and he trembled uncontrollably, when the trembling ceased, he realized he had been transported somewhere else, and both he and Mad Dog were levitating.

Below him, he saw a battlefield, and ahead of him was a mage who bore a striking resemblance to Mad Dog just a bit younger, and this younger version was leading other mages, all clad in the uniform of the War God Mage Academy, but they appeared defeated, with some missing limbs, and hovering above them was a dragoniac with an elongated tail.

Alecʼs mind was flooded with memories of the Dragoniac race, the same race that Hadriel, the blindfolded genius, belonged to, as he remembered how a deep an impression Hadriel left on him.

However, the Dragoniac flying above the mages below emitted an aura indicating the peak of the Tier 9 realm, it was incredibly intimidating, and its seemingly impenetrable golden scales added to the effect, as the air around him seems to be breaking down from pure force.

”This is one of my memories from the past. Just watch, it was supposed to be an impossible mission to stop a royal Dragoniac from wreaking havoc on a city close to the capital till reinforcement came!” Mad Dog mentioned, prompting Alec to look up and notice that the moon above was a pure shade of red, and It dawned on him that this memory must have occurred during a blood moon war.

Alec wondered about the tremendous strength of the Dragoniac, who had ventured out alone from a space gate and managed to slaughter countless mages, leaving only the War God Academy mages as the last line of defense, as they were lead by Mad Dogʼs resilience attitude,

Alecʼs attention was abruptly diverted as he witnessed a tunnel of red and black flames igniting in the air, slowly, someone emerged from the flame portal, initially presenting only his legs before the rest of his body materialized.

This figure possessed fiery red hair and sported a long black Changdao fastened at his waist, and a white short blade accompanied it, suggesting a parallel story that harmonized with the Changdao.

The figure was cladded in Red coloured Spirit Equipment armor set, his back displayed two flaming wings—one blazing a bright red, while the other appeared hauntingly black.

Alec felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity wash over him upon seeing this man back, he couldnʼt quite pinpoint its origin, but the moment the man appeared, Alec found himself feeling oddly secure, even though he hadnʼt been in any immediate danger before.

After all, he was merely experiencing Mad Dogʼs memories.

Yet, the instant Alec caught sight of the emblem adorning the manʼs chest, everything clicked into place, he realized the clan to which this man belonged.

”I present to you Rae Blaze, the one who created this spell,” Mad Dog announced, leaving Alec rooted in the air, Finally, he understood the reason for the overwhelming sense of familiarity.

As Rae gradually unsheathed his Black Changdao, his face coming into view, Alec couldnʼt help but perceive a remarkable resemblance, It almost felt as if he were beholding an elder version of himself, it was also his first glimpse at his fatherʼs face.
