The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 333: Chapter 295: You Are the Professionals at Demon Hunting

Lin Yi, Wei Shang, and Feng Lei returned to fight in the desert scene.

Especially for Wei Shang.

This was his chance to redeem himself.

The last time they came to the desert map,

they were almost killed by the Worm-like Creatures.

The long hospital stay had left him feeling frustrated for just as long.

Especially after his cultivation realm was unsealed.

He had been holding his breath, eager to return to the desert map.

However, the maps inside Jail City changed randomly every day.

There was no discernible pattern at all.

One day it might be the desert map, the next it could be an ocean map.

Later, it might even change back to the desert...

If he wanted to come to the desert map and redeem himself,

it wasn’t going to be easy.

But Wei Shang never expected his luck to be this good.

After returning to duty and coming back to Jail City, he was met with the desert map again.

His desire for revenge burned like an exploding cosmos.

In this desert, he went on a rampage.

Any demonic or exotic beast he encountered, regardless of its realm, was utterly crushed by him.

He was a 6-star Martial Artist and a member of the Town Martial Department.

His combat experience was also extremely rich. In this desert,

he was an unstoppable force, steamrolling everything in his path. No one could stand in his way...

However, outside of Jail City,

in the other cities of the New District, departments like the Public Security Bureau, the Demon Hunting Bureau, and the Town Martial Department

were all buzzing with activity.

Almost as soon as night fell, reports of demonic and exotic beasts attacking people came in from all over.

This plunged the entire New District into a state of panic.

A heavy sense of crisis loomed over everything.

In Songshan City, beneath a large bridge.

Chu Zhengxiong, along with Mo Yanfeng, Qin Zhaoxue, Chen Shuang, and the other interns, had all rushed here the moment they got the news.

By the time they arrived, the Public Security Bureau had already cordoned off the area with caution tape.

Shan Kui of the Left Guard and his men were already under the bridge pier.

”Old Shan, what’s the situation?”

Chu Zhengxiong hurried down from above with his squad.

Seeing Shan Kui and the members of the Left Guard from a distance, he shouted.

Shan Kui glanced back at them.

He walked over to meet Chu Zhengxiong, and as he drew near,

Shan Kui’s brow was deeply furrowed. ”Three people are dead. They were all ordinary residents. Two weren’t even Martial Artists, and the other was a 1-star. All of them were devoured by demonic beasts!”

”How many? Three dead?”

Chu Zhengxiong’s expression changed drastically.

Shan Kui nodded. ”According to our on-site investigation, we found that all three were dragged here before being killed!”

”And they were eaten while they were still alive...”

After Shan Kui finished speaking,

the faces of Chu Zhengxiong, Mo Yanfeng, and the others all changed.

Especially the three girls, Qin Zhaoxue, Cui Ya, and Xia Shiyu.

They were particularly horrified.

Ordinarily, even if demonic beasts hunted and ate humans,

they would do so only after killing them.

But these three people were eaten by demonic beasts while still alive.

One can only imagine the immense pain they suffered before they died.

”Those bastards... No, have you figured out what kind of demonic beast did this?”

”Why do I feel like there have been more demonic beasts in the New District lately than usual?”

”Even if demonic beasts managed to sneak into the city before, it was only an occasional occurrence!”

”In a single year, the number of incidents of demonic beasts infiltrating cities would never exceed double digits!”

”What’s going on? In just one month, there have been frequent incidents of demonic beasts killing people... Old Shan, has your Town Martial Department looked into whether something has gone wrong at the Restricted Area Battlefield?”

After Chu Zhengxiong said this,

Shan Kui whipped his head around to look at him. ”Old Chu, you’re a captain, for crying out loud!”

”How can you say something like that so carelessly? If word gets out, can you handle the consequences?”

Hearing this, Chu Zhengxiong scratched his head and said with a laugh, ”Yeah, but it’s just the two of us here, right?”

”Even so, you shouldn’t speak nonsense. The affairs of the Restricted Area Battlefield are not for us to interfere with!”

”Our duty is to protect our own jurisdiction!”

”But... I can give you a little inside information!”

”Tonight, multiple cases of demonic beasts harming people have already occurred throughout the New District!”

”It’s not just our Songshan City; many other cities have had similar incidents... It’s even been reported that in Beiruan City, several demonic beasts of 5-star and above are running rampant, causing considerable chaos!”

”Right now, the Demon Hunting Bureaus and Town Martial Departments of Beiruan City, Dongping City, and Da Liu City are all patrolling the streets overnight!”

”Just before I left, I heard that our Songshan City is also about to issue a level-three alert!”

After Shan Kui finished speaking, Chu Zhengxiong looked at him in surprise.

”Is it that serious?”

”It’s just a rumor, its authenticity is debatable, but tonight’s situation is definitely not that simple!”

”As for whether it’s as you said... that’s top secret!”

”It’s not our place to worry about it anyway. Just wait and see. If the higher-ups from the Martial Arts Alliance, the Town Martial Department, and the Demon Hunting Bureau get together for a meeting in the next couple of days, things might really be getting serious!”

”If not, and it’s just small meetings within each department, it means the problem isn’t a big deal!”

Shan Kui and Chu Zhengxiong exchanged a look.

They both understood without needing to say a word.

Although the matter of the Restricted Area Battlefield couldn’t be spoken of publicly,

they both had their suspicions.

Especially with tonight’s events, where cities all over the New District had outbreaks of demonic and exotic beasts attacking people.

That alone spoke volumes.

If things went as expected, the Demon Hunting Bureau, the Town Martial Department, and the Martial Arts Alliance would all order the cities to eliminate these demonic beasts.

If the problem wasn’t serious, it would probably just be the various departments recalling their city captains to headquarters.

They would hold an internal meeting to lay out the mission requirements.

If the problem blew up... then it would likely be a high-level meeting between the Demon Hunting Bureau, the Martial Arts Alliance, and the Town Martial Department.

Once the leaders of these three organizations all sat down together,

it would be enough to prove that something had gone wrong at the Restricted Area Battlefield.

And that would mean things were getting serious.

The Restricted Area Battlefield had always been defended by the military.

For so many years, there had never been a major issue.

Even if demonic or exotic beasts occasionally slipped out, it wasn’t considered a big problem.

They would be quickly quelled by the Demon Hunting Bureau and the Town Martial Department.

They were either captured and thrown into Jail City, or killed on the spot.

To maintain the balance in Jail City, the army defending the Restricted Area would even personally capture demonic beasts from the Restricted Area and transport them to Jail City to be used as cultivation resources for the students.

But now, so many demonic beasts had appeared overnight.

It wasn’t that the Restricted Area Battlefield had fallen,

but an imbalance had definitely occurred.

They were on the verge of losing control...

Chu Zhengxiong clapped Shan Kui on the shoulder and nodded with tacit understanding.

”Come on, let’s get to work!”

He led the Demon Hunting Squad over to the bodies.

He lifted the white sheet covering them.

Three corpses lay there, two male and one female.

However, their faces were unrecognizable, mangled and bloody from being chewed on.

Their internal organs had also been completely hollowed out, leaving a terrifying, bloody cavity...

The pervasive smell of blood made Cao Gang, Chen Shuang, and the others feel sick to their stomachs.

Cui Ya and Xia Shiyu’s faces turned pale.

They immediately ran to the side and began to vomit violently.

Chu Zhengxiong glanced back at them but didn’t say anything.

They were still just students, and they lived in the New District.

Where would they have seen such a gruesome scene?

He remembered back in the Old District, the first time he took Lin Yi to kill those people from Blood Drop.

After the great battle ended,

Lin Yi had also thrown up everything he’d eaten...

It was a normal physiological reaction.

They would get used to it slowly over time.

Chu Zhengxiong covered the three bodies with the white sheet again.

You couldn’t really call it a white sheet anymore, as it was completely stained red with blood.

”The matter of Demon Hunting should be left to you from the Demon Hunting Bureau. Let the professionals handle their business!”

”We, the Left Guard and the Public Security Bureau, will be responsible for patrolling the city!”

Seeing that Chu Zhengxiong had finished examining the bodies, Shan Kui quickly added.

Their respective departments had different responsibilities.

The Town Martial Department was primarily responsible for suppressing rogue Martial Artists.

The Demon Hunting Bureau, on the other hand, was mainly in charge of hunting and killing demonic beasts that were causing trouble.

When it came to hunting demonic beasts, Chu Zhengxiong and his team were the professionals.

When it came to suppressing Martial Artists, the Town Martial Department was the professional.

Chu Zhengxiong nodded.

Before he could speak, the phone in his pocket rang.

He took it out and glanced at the screen. It was a call from the Songshan City Demon Hunting Institute.

”Hello?”

Chu Zhengxiong answered the phone with a frown.

He had a bad feeling in his gut.

The next moment, a woman’s voice came from the other end of the line.

”Captain Chu, a case has been reported... a homicide on Songping Avenue. It seems someone was attacked and killed by a demonic beast!”

”What?”

Chu Zhengxiong’s expression changed. Just as he hung up the phone,

Shan Kui also walked over, holding a phone in his hand as well.

They looked at each other and understood everything.

”Let’s go! To Songping Avenue!”

The group hurriedly headed back up.

They left the scene here for the Public Security Bureau to handle. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

The two teams got into their respective vehicles and sped off toward Songping Avenue.

「That night.」

The cities of the New District were not at peace.

The earlier confusion gradually turned into tension.

By the second half of the night, the Demon Hunting Institutes and Town Martial Departments in every city had descended into panic.

The phones rang all night with new case reports.

Incidents of demonic beast attacks occurred one after another.

Every department was so busy they didn’t know whether they were coming or going.

「As dawn broke,」

the first light of morning pierced through the darkness.

The gates of Jail City slowly opened.

Lin Yi, Wei Shang, and Feng Lei walked out of the gates.

They had fought to their hearts’ content all night.

Especially Wei Shang. It had been a long time since he’d felt so exhilarated.

The number of demonic beasts that had died at his hands was countless.

Lin Yi had even encountered three exiled prisoners on the desert map.

He was almost deceived, but fortunately, he spotted a flaw in their story.

He turned the tables and killed them all...

But as they walked out of the city gates and onto the main street of Jail City,

they discovered the area had descended into chaos.

The ground was a complete mess, and many stalls looked as if they had been smashed and looted.

Looking at the scene before them,

the three of them were completely stunned. ”What happened here? Did this place get raided?”
