The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 310: Chapter 287: Might is Right (Part 2)

Even if everything Lin Yi analyzed was sound, the biggest hole in the theory was this: did Lin Yu really possess such profound cunning?

He would have been laying the groundwork, playing a long game, from the moment he joined Blood Drop—or perhaps even before.

A man with that level of cunning would be terrifying.

However, based on what they knew about Lin Yu before...

He was capable of petty calculations and minor schemes.

But he’d always directed them at Lin Yi, slowly marginalizing him within their family.

He’d turned Lin Dazhi against his own son in every conceivable way.

And that was about the extent of it...

If he truly had such profound cunning, why would he have bothered with such petty tricks?

He could have gotten anything he wanted with ease.

Far more than what he could ever squeeze out of Lin Dazhi.

This was the point that made Wei Nan skeptical.

After hearing this, Lin Yi also realized there did seem to be some holes in his theory.

”Besides, there’s another suspicious point!”

”Even if Lin Yu wanted revenge on you, why on earth would he go after people from the Martial Arts Hall?”

”And why would he act like a total moron, going around telling everyone, ’I’m Lin Yi’s brother, and I’m beating you up to get back at him’? How idiotic is that?”

”Beating them up is supposed to be revenge on you? The logic makes no sense whatsoever!”

”Maybe Lin Yu does hate you. He sees you’ve gone to the New District and are living the kind of life everyone dreams of!”

”As the district’s Martial Arts Examination Champion Scholar, no less. It’s understandable that he’d be green with envy!”

”And I could even see him going after people you were once close to—classmates, friends, anyone connected to you!”

”But I refuse to believe anyone is stupid enough to go around announcing who they are and why they’re beating people up!”

Wei Nan’s words were blunt, but his reasoning was sound.

Indeed, upon careful consideration, the logic was full of massive holes.

Lin Yu might be arrogant, but he would never do something so childish.

So, there were only two possibilities now.

Either it was just as Li Xuewen said, and Lin Yu had really become an idiot.

Perhaps some perverse technique he’d been practicing had fried his brain.

Or Li Xuewen was lying.

As for why he would lie, Lin Yi had no idea.

One thing was certain, however: the Li Xuewen of today was no longer the person they once knew.

Without a word, Lin Yi took out his phone.

He found Yang Yong’s number and dialed.

After a long ring, the call connected.

Yang Yong sounded a little surprised. ”Hello? Xiaoyi? What made you think to give me a call?”

Lin Yi gave an awkward laugh. ”Coach Yang, I hope I’m not bothering you. I just got to the New District a little while ago and haven’t had a chance to contact you...”

”Hahaha, don’t worry about it! I was just teasing. The New District is nothing like the Old District. It’s a complicated environment, and people’s hearts are restless!”

”When you get to a completely new place, you really do need time to adjust!”

”You’re not just calling to tell me you’re doing okay, are you? If something’s on your mind, just spit it out!”

Lin Yi nodded. ”Coach Yang, I wanted to ask you about Li Xuewen.”

”Who? Li Xuewen?”

”What, have you been in contact with him?” Yang Yong’s tone shifted slightly.

It went from surprise to a slow, deliberate calm.

The shift only took a few seconds.

But it was enough for Lin Yi to detect something unusual in his voice.

Lin Yi continued, ”Yes, we just spoke with him.”

”It seems like something happened to him? He couldn’t go to university, and you helped him get a job at the Martial Arts Police Station instead?”

Yang Yong was silent for a few seconds.

Then he continued, ”Yes, I was the one who recommended him for the position.”

”Everyone has their own destiny. Maybe university just wasn’t in the cards for him.”

”You can’t force fate, and it isn’t easy to change it. Now that you’re in the New District, you have to cherish the opportunities you have!”

”I’ve always had high hopes for you. I believe you can go far on the path of Martial Arts.”

”Don’t worry about what happens in the Old District!”

”The very air here is foul. Stay too long, and it will corrupt your heart.”

”Alright, I have to get back to teaching. We can talk again when we have time... Lin Yi, remember what I said. Don’t overthink things. Just do well in the New District and focus on your university studies.”

”You finally managed to leave, so just forget the Old District.”

”There’s nothing here worth holding onto. Look forward, don’t look back. Just walk your own path.”

After Yang Yong finished speaking, Lin Yi was lost in thought for several seconds.

A moment later, he nodded. ”Coach Yang, I will.”

He hung up the phone.

Wei Nan quickly asked, ”Well? What did your coach say?”

Lin Yi smiled and shook his head. ”He told me to mind my own business and just focus on my training here in the New District...”

”See? Even your coach is telling you. Whatever’s happening in the Old District—whether it’s Lin Yu causing trouble or Li Xuewen lying—what does it have to do with us?”

”Coming to the New District means we’re in a different world from them now!”

”As long as it doesn’t affect us, they can do whatever crazy things they want.”

”Besides, ever since I got to the New District and saw the local students here...”

”I’ve come to understand something!”

A glint of wisdom flashed in Wei Nan’s eyes.

Lin Yi glanced at him with a smile. ”And what’s that?”

”Might makes right!”

”It doesn’t matter if you’re from the damn Old District or a local student. As long as your fists are hard enough, you’re the one who’s right!”

”Just now, after your fight with Xu Tai, when you walked out of the Weapon Hall!”

”Didn’t you see the way those local students were looking at you? It was practically hero worship!”
