The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 308: Chapter 286: The Newborn Cult, Lin Yu’s Revenge

Upon hearing this news, Lin Yi and the others were all utterly shocked.

The New Star Martial Arts Hall was quite famous in the Old District.

Especially since this year’s Martial Arts Examination had produced a Champion Scholar like Lin Yi.

It was only natural that its reputation would soar.

The best way for a Martial Arts Hall to promote itself was through the rankings of the Martial Arts Examination.

And in this examination, they hadn’t just produced a Champion Scholar.

Over a dozen other students had also successfully tested into the New District.

More importantly, as far as Lin Yi and the others knew, the Martial Arts Hall had no enemies.

As for sabotage by a rival, that was even more unlikely.

They wouldn’t have the guts. The Martial Arts Hall had Coach Yang and several other instructors.

Among the coaches in the Old District’s Martial Arts Halls, they were considered top-tier.

Besides, behind the New Star Martial Arts Hall stood the behemoth that was the Martial Arts Alliance.

Unless the other Martial Arts Halls wanted to be put out of business.

Otherwise, they would never dare do something like this.

Lin Yi: Then why didn’t you come to the New District for university? Even if you were attacked, it shouldn’t be so bad that...

Li Xuewen: *wry smile* Senior Brother Lin, one of my legs is crippled. My cultivation level has dropped. Even if I went to the New District, the universities wouldn’t accept me anymore. Luckily, Coach Yang pulled some strings and got me into the Martial Arts Police Station. I think it’s not bad this way. I have a stable life and can start earning a salary early.

After reading Li Xuewen’s message, Lin Yi, Zhou Qi, and Sun Tao all fell silent.

They never would have imagined that so much could have happened in just over a month.

Li Xuewen’s future was ruined. Losing a leg was equivalent to having his Martial Arts career completely destroyed.

In this lifetime, he had no hope of ever coming to the New District.

As for whether they would ever have a chance to meet again, that would depend on the future.

It depended on whether Lin Yi and the others could obtain a travel pass.

If they could get a pass for both districts, they could return to the Old District to see their old friends and brothers-in-arms.

If they couldn’t...

The group chat fell silent again.

A heavy mood descended upon everyone.

Life is unpredictable; no one ever knows what tomorrow will bring.

It wasn’t long ago that they were all sitting in a hot pot restaurant, dreaming aloud about their futures.

Li Xuewen had even been envious that they had received multiple acceptance letters while complaining that he only had one.

But now, that single acceptance letter had become nothing more than proof of a dream.

At least it proved that Li Xuewen once had a dream of going to the New District.

For a long time, no one spoke.

Li Xuewen: What’s wrong? Don’t feel sad for me. Staying in the Old District isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Maybe the New District wasn’t a good fit for me anyway!

Li Xuewen: I’ve already come to terms with it. And at the Martial Arts Police Station, Captain Tang is very good to me. He really looks out for me. Life is pretty good now!

Li Xuewen: By the way, how are you guys doing in the New District? Is the environment there good? Are there any demon beasts or anything?

Li Xuewen: How much have your cultivation levels improved? Have you reached 2-star? With Senior Brother Lin’s talent, he must be 4-star by now, right?

Seeing that Li Xuewen was the only one sending messages in the chat, Zhou Qi, Sun Tao, and Wei Nan felt their vision blur.

They couldn’t see the words on the screen clearly anymore.

After a long moment, Wei Nan wiped his eyes.

He quickly typed out a few words on his phone.

Wei Nan: Lin Yi is a monster. He broke through to 4-star a long time ago. If I’m not mistaken, he’s probably already 5-star by now, right?

Wei Nan: Xuewen, don’t be discouraged! There are a lot of medicines in the New District, with effects you can’t even imagine. We can definitely find a medicine to heal your leg. Just wait for us to come back!

Li Xuewen: *laughing* Don’t bother looking. I have a prosthetic leg now, so I don’t need any medicine!

As soon as he said that, the group was shocked once again.

’So when Li Xuewen said his leg was crippled... he meant it was gone?’

This made Wei Nan, who had just been about to type, freeze.

Li Xuewen: It’s okay, don’t you all worry about me. I have a mission, so I have to go. We’ll talk again when we have time!

Wei Nan: Okay!

Zhou Qi: Stay safe.

Sun Tao: Take care of yourself! Wait for us to come back and get together!

When they all put down their phones, the atmosphere grew even heavier. Li Xuewen’s fate was something none of them had anticipated.

They never imagined any of this would happen.

Just then, Lin Yi’s phone vibrated.

He picked it up and saw it was a private message from Li Xuewen.

[Li Xuewen: Senior Brother Lin, I’ve been thinking about this for a long time, wondering whether I should tell you. I was going to say it in the group chat just now, but I decided against it. It’s your private business, so I decided to tell you like this instead!]

[Lin Yi: What is it?]

[Li Xuewen: The person who attacked the Martial Arts Hall... I think it was your younger brother, Lin Yu!]

[Lin Yi: Who? Lin Yu? Are you sure it was him?]

[Li Xuewen: He admitted it himself. He attacked the students at the Martial Arts Hall to get revenge on you. It seems he’s started a cult now, called ”New Life.” And its followers grew to tens of thousands overnight!]

[Li Xuewen: The followers are all people who failed the Martial Arts Examination or are otherwise unhappy with their lives. They were quickly recruited by this ”New Life” cult!]

[Li Xuewen: Now ”New Life” is causing trouble everywhere—burning, killing, looting, they do it all. And your brother...]

[Lin Yi: It’s fine. Just say it. Don’t hold back.]

[Li Xuewen: He also seems to be practicing some kind of evil art. He’s not human, not ghost... anyway, he doesn’t look human anymore!]

These messages from Li Xuewen made Lin Yi’s heart sink.

It wasn’t because of the so-called ”New Life” cult that Lin Yu had established.

Nor was it because he was practicing some evil art.

None of that had anything to do with Lin Yi.

They weren’t blood-related in the first place, so what did it matter if he lived or died?

But as Li Xuewen revealed all this, memories of things that had happened in the past began flashing through Lin Yi’s mind.

A blaze of fury shot through him.

The very next moment, Lin Yi slammed his palm down on the table.

BAM—

Scared, Wei Nan, Zhou Qi, and the others all looked over at Lin Yi in surprise.
