The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 288: Chapter 280: Still Wanting More, Just Do It

”Captain Chu, you can’t speak so recklessly!”

”The Restricted Area Battlefield is out of balance? That’s no small matter!”

”If the Defenders from the Martial Arts Alliance were to hear this, would they stand for it?”

A captain suddenly spoke up in a hurry.

The others all nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Meng Yuan, seated in the center, remained silent.

He looked as though he were lost in deep thought.

Chu Zhengxiong smiled. ”Whether I’m speaking recklessly or not, everyone here knows the real score!”

”You’re all captains of your respective cities, and you’re all very experienced!”

”So many demon beasts and strange beasts appearing in the New District overnight... I don’t need to spell out what that means, do I?”

”There have been rumors for a while now that the Restricted Area Battlefield is on the verge of losing its balance!”

”The demon beasts and strange beasts within have become difficult to contain, and powerful auras have even begun to emerge from their ranks!”

”These are all dangerous signs. Burying our heads in the sand is not an option; we have to face reality!”

”Captain Meng, I suggest we meet with the Martial Arts Alliance and the Town Martial Department immediately!”

”If the Restricted Area Battlefield really is out of balance and there’s a problem, then we must take action at once!”

”If we wait until the situation becomes irreversible, it’ll be too late!”

When Chu Zhengxiong had finished,

another dozen or so captains immediately nodded in agreement.

An imbalance in the Restricted Area Battlefield was no laughing matter.

It would be one thing if a Martial God were there to keep things under control.

But it had been hundreds of years since the last Martial God departed,

and now powerful beastly auras were once again appearing in the Restricted Area.

This, coupled with the recent invasion of strange beasts into the city,

were all signs that the Restricted Area Battlefield was on the brink of imbalance.

If they didn’t take it seriously, it would be too late by the time disaster struck.

As the Head Captain of the Demon Hunting Bureau, Meng Yuan naturally understood this as well.

In fact, even before Chu Zhengxiong had spoken up, the Bureau had already held meetings to discuss these very issues.

The conclusion they had reached was nearly identical to what Chu Zhengxiong had just said.

They simply hadn’t wanted to be the ones to leak this information.

They just wanted to find someone to say it for them.

And Chu Zhengxiong was the most suitable candidate. Among all the captains of the Demon Hunting Teams in the Demon Hunting Bureau, he was one of the most well-liked, and also the one most willing to speak his mind.

Having him be the one to voice these concerns was clearly the most appropriate choice.

For a moment, the vast conference room

was filled with the discussions of dozens of Demon Hunting Team captains.

Half of them believed Chu Zhengxiong was just being an alarmist.

The Restricted Area Battlefield was guarded by elite troops.

How could it fall out of balance so easily? Even if a powerful beast were to emerge,

it wouldn’t be able to breach the defensive lines that easily.

Besides, even if the defensive lines were on the verge of being breached, wouldn’t they report it to the Martial Arts Alliance?

Would the seven great Defenders of the Martial Arts Alliance just sit idly by in their homes?

However, another faction agreed with Chu Zhengxiong.

The New District had never had demon beasts or strange beasts before.

Now that these beasts had appeared, and people had lost their lives,

the problem must lie with the Restricted Area Battlefield.

Perhaps these beasts had escaped from there.

The very fact that these beasts could escape from the heavily guarded Restricted Area Battlefield was proof enough that something was wrong.

Just as the captains were arguing, each sticking to their own view,

Head Captain Meng Yuan shot them a dark glance.

”Enough...”

His low voice immediately silenced the conference room.

All eyes focused on Meng Yuan.

”Captain Chu’s theory is just that—a theory. It cannot be taken as conclusive!”

”The Bureau will verify whether there is a problem with the Restricted Area Battlefield. You don’t need to worry about it.”

”However, the cities under your jurisdictions have been invaded by demon beasts and strange beasts!”

”I want you to eliminate these threats in the short term. Those cities that have not been invaded by demon beasts or strange beasts must also strengthen their preventive measures!”

”And you are to coordinate closely with your local Town Martial Departments and the Martial Arts Alliance!”

”There can be no friction between you. Your duty is to protect your cities with all your strength. Do you understand?”

When the Head Captain had finished,

the captains in the conference room all replied in unison, ”Yes, understood!”

”Good. Now that you understand, go back.”

”Return to your posts and guard the cities you’re responsible for!”

”During this period, I will not allow any more deaths. If trouble arises again in any of your cities, you will answer to the Bureau yourselves!”

”Go...”

After the Head Captain finished speaking,

the captains who had been present all filed out of the room.

However, a few people remained seated.

They were Chu Zhengxiong, Han Bin, and Mo Ya.

After the other captains had dispersed, Meng Yuan noticed they were still there.

He frowned. ”What is it? Do you have something else to discuss?”

The few of them exchanged a glance and moved closer with smiles on their faces.

”Captain Meng, ever since the Battle of Wushan, our teams have suffered heavy losses!”

”Can we get approval to recruit a few interns from Xingwu University for our teams?”

Han Bin said with a grin.

Meng Yuan glanced at him. ”Didn’t I already approve that last time? What, Principal Tang didn’t agree?”

The expressions of both Han Bin and Mo Ya changed slightly.

”It was approved, yes, but there’s one more person we want!” Han Bin said with a laugh.

At this, Chu Zhengxiong shot him a glare. ”Impossible! Forget Principal Tang and Xingwu University—*I* won’t allow it!”

”Old Han, how many times have I told you? Why are you so fixated on Lin Yi?”

The words were out.
